Are US cities seeing a surge in violent crime as Trump claims?

Is violent crime surging in Asian communities?
Is crime surging anywhere? That has not been established, at least beyond what might be statistical outliers. And blaming those situations on blacks, well, that would be blatant racist, so I am sure no one here will do that.

Could it be that some people are saying that violent crime is caused by racial division, a bad economy, and hot weather? It seems to me like there are posts in this very thread claiming that that is the case.

BLM is currently engaging in extortion, and that is a free choice, not the result of remote social and non-social forces.

By the way, does BLM represent the black community?

And how about the Black Panthers, do they speak for the black community?

My Grandpa was raised on the southside of Chicago. This is going to sound rude, but that whole city seems to be a lost cause. You can’t save a sinking ship.

As the are decentralized, diverse, and disorganized, they represent nothing but an idea. BLM is no more “engaged in distortion” than Trump supporters are engaged in killing people of color. I am sure you would agree the later is outrageous based on a couple of incidents of his supporters. Yet you have done the same about BLM. We must follow the Golden Rule to avoid hypocrisy.

President Trump is not in charge of nor responsible for the policing of States, Counties and Cities around the nation … Federal Law Enforcement is responsible for the protection of federal buildings, federal military installations and the personnel who work within them and those functions related to the sovereignty of the Country [border protection, immigration and air travel] and federal laws like Alcohol, Tobacco and Fire Arms, FBI [major crimes - like civil rights anti-trust etc]

Also, I dont believe Trump has his name on many federal buildings if any … The Federal Courthouse in Portland Oregon is named for Senator Mark Hatfield and was commissioned during the Clinton Administration - thus the plaque on the exterior of the building states “United States of America 1997 William Jefferson Clinton President”

The President should admonish those local leaders who are letting violent rioters and looters run their respective public streets creating murder, mayhem, personal and public property destruction and theft. He does have an obligation to protect federal property from illegal activities: defacement, damage and arson. He does have a duty and right to protect the federal work force from assault.

Those Mayors and Governors also have a duty to protect those same citizens and federal property from destruction and assault - instead - they are abdicating that responsibility for political reasons … they have calculated that it is better for their re-election to blame the President and federal employees rather than due their duty … its sad and actually places every federal building and employee in greater jeopardy from the loony extremes on both sides of the spectrum - who hate the government.

While currently most of the hate is directed at federal [and local law enforcement] demonizing of the federal work force will lead to harm and even possible death to federal employees ad destruction of federal facilities. It is a fact that federal institutions are always a target - this is only making it worse.

I was reading a description from a guy in South America in the midst of a Marxist coup in his country.

He said once the Marxists were in power the only way to obtain police help was to privately pay them (in addition to their public salary).

So the wealthy could get law enforcement help when needed.
But your average joe could not.

But they’re occurring under his watch, something that he stated about Bush and 9/11.

BLM is engaging in extortion as discussed in the video in post #19. The Black Panthers, sensing criminal opportunity, have now begun to appear at these demonstrations as well:

David Horowitz, originally affiliated with the Panthers, describes in Radical Son how the murder by the Panthers of an associate, Betty Van Patten, eventually awakened him to the violent criminal activity that had been occurring right in front of his nose.

For many people, a thin veneer of politics is often sufficient to mask violent criminality completely, to the point of making it virtually invisible.

Communism, and its associated criminality, must be seen for the evil that they are, no matter what guise they appear under:

9/11 was an attack on America by foreign agents … much different than what is occurring here and the two situations do not equate …

Trumps “watch” does not include the local policing actions of local jurisdictions and their lack of responsibility. It would have been bad for him to abandon the Hatfield Building to the rioters and allow them to destroy or do major damage to it - that would have been Trumps dereliction of duty. We saw what happened in Minneapolis and Seattle where the police/Mayor abdicated their responsibility to protect public property - one where precinct was looted and then burned to the ground and one taken over by hostile anarchists - where the building damaged, crimes including assault, rape, theft, coercion and two murders …

"An employee at a Chicago Dunkin’ location was arrested Friday, one day after an Illinois state trooper discovered saliva inside a cup of coffee, state police said. Vincent Sessler, 25, was charged with disorderly conduct, reckless conduct and battery.

As punishment, the defendant was ordered to go back to work at Dunkin Donuts."

Is there a source for this? The first part checks out. (I had to check out the location. Not too far from Midway Airport.)

The lockdowns have probably quelled some crime but violent crime has likely surged since Memorial Day. So, it is a two way street.

You always make me laugh, love your sense of humor! 🤣 😂 🤣

I question your motives here.

Why are you hellbent on trying to downplay such increases in murders in so many American cities by trying to tie in possible decreases in theft?

Are you that desperate to ride along on the manipulative “mostly peaceful” bandwagon? I mean, during WW2, planet earth was “mostly peaceful”… only conflict was in Europe and West Asia, right? Of course, Saying as such downplays the intensity of the violence, which is what such a phrase is designed to do by our resident media activists.

But, why are you not alarmed by such increases?
