Sure it matters! If we are alive at the third coming of Jesus, we will not have to undergo death. As St Paul says we will not all die, but we will all be changed. Personally I can’t think of many fun ways to die, so I kind of wish it would be soon. But if I had to guess, all the poll estimates are way too soon. I would think in about 25 to 50 thousand more years to go.
 
In the end, even the elect will be deceived…pray that we do not fall into this…:eek:

Oh yes, we are ALL nearing the end. Some of us are just a tad closer than the rest. Let’s see… considering my age, and the genes I inherited… I would predict an other 20-25 years before the end arrives for me.:dancing:
 
i don’t so much have an opinion on the end times, but i am glad to see i am far from being the only person that looks forward to the end, personal or otherwise. frankly, i can’t wait to see the end of this life.

As Catholics, we could take the end of times as a very personal thing. Individually, it could be at any time whenever God decides to take us out of this world. St John 5,14 Sin no more, lest something worse befall thee.

I suppose when the Tartars decimated their country, and killed of more than 2/3rd of the population, the Hungarians must have thought the end was upon them. And so it was. That was close to a thousand years ago. So what we observe today is not worse than before; be it wars, natural disasters or certain people starving to death.
 
We may not know the day or the hour but can we know the year?
All of Elijah’s deciples knew of the time that he would go to heaven. All his replacement Elisha would say to them when they would mention it was " Keep your peace".
When writting my book “The King’s Highway” it became clear to me that not only every great moment that has happen is wriiten on the highways from Indianapolis to Lansing to Columbus but also every great event that will happen as well.
To get out of the left foot of Indiana to the right hand of Michigan you need a upper room experiance that is why you cross 120 on highway 69 but you also need to leave the darkness behind you that is why you go 12 miles to get to highway 12 but the new 12 of Acts see the light in them that is why it is another 12 miles to 60 “Rise and shine for your light has come and the glory of the Lord has risen on you”. You have to leave the 12 hours of darkness to be covered in the river of time and have 12 stones of light on the side of the promised land to reciece your inheritance. Jesus said, are there not 12 hours in the day so when you have the light walk in the light so you may become children of the light.
This symbolic journey on highway 69 on the way to Lansing crosses 94 because the time line in the St. Joseph Bible put the passing of the tourch to the Church 94 years before the end of the 4th millenia of Adams decendents. Then in Lansing we can sing because the revealtion of Christ symbolized by highway 27 joined to 69 give you the number 96 and highway 96 is the opposite of 69. We are all children of 69 “The first man and woman” but by adoption we have become children of the New Eve and Adam “Mary and Jesus” 96.
The reason why the land sing in lansing is then that this New Adam was Born of Mary 127 years before the end of the 4th millenia according to the St. Joseph Bible time line. Using this same paradine the highway 27 also in Lansing could foretell the next coming, 27 years before the end of the 2nd millenia of the Church age 2033 AD. The first Noah, who’s name ment rest, day’s were complete 2006 years after Adam, and this would be 2006 years after the Second Adam “Jesus” if He came then to give us rest by chaining Satan for one thousand years “Revelation 20”. You are absolutely right Highwayman. My simple mind could not possibly comprehend your wisdom.🙂
 
I was tempted to say that we were within the last few years, (any day now).

But a quick read through history texts convinced me otherwise.
My read of history has convinced me that the idea that we are in the end-times based on the current situation is false.
Were that the case, it would be the same for any person living in any era. My read of history tells me that every period of history is just as screwed up as the next or the one before.

I consider the question irrelevent.
We all know God wins out, it is our job to stay within his good graces. Perhaps if we did, the next generation would not look as bad.

But for those that need some kind of end-times crutch, consider…
At your own moment of death, God has come, for you, in a very personnel way. And any or all end-times prophecy (since they can arguably be applied to almost any time period) will have been fulfilled, for you.

I don’t much look forward to death either. But as C.S. Lewis says somewhere, all the best people have died. More have died than are alive (I think.) We’ll be in good company.
 
You want to know when the end of time will be?

Well, apparently there are at least 45 end time signs. If these signs are all happening lots the end must be soon. And one man has compiled a “Rapture Index” which calculates a figure from the day to day occurrences of these signs to tell whether “Rapture” is likely any time soon.

Apparently the rapture index as of 4th October was 155 which means “Fasten Your Seat Belts”.

Of course you may not want to take this index completely seriously (or the concept of a pretribulation rapture, planes crashing etc). And his view of the catholic church is that catholics are Christians with lots of errors so you might not want to take that seriously either. But at least he says the Pope probably isn’t the antichrist and Babylon is not the Catholic Church. So that’s something anyway.

As for me I just believe the end will come. Jesus will return. One day. And that the biblical prophecies can be and have been used to prove all sorts of whacky times and ways for the end to come. And that some people have a very unhealthy end times obsession.

Jesus told us not to speculate on this, and that we can’t know anything about it anyway. What I do know for certain is that either Jesus will return, or I will die and go to Him for judgement. The “Imitation of Christ” says that if we are alive in the morning, we are not guaranteed to be still alive by sunset, and if we go to bed at night, there is no guarantee we will wake up alive in the morning. The best bet, therefore, is to live each moment as near as possible in a state of grace, prayer, repentence, and service, so that when the Master returns (or we are called to Him), we will be found prepared.
 
To answer “Still, it just doesn’t matter. Christ already has the Victory!” as I have done, mean that Christ may return to morrow, in 20 years, in 500 ot milliards of years.

There are signs in the world that may be we have started at the “end of the endtimes”. I don’t think of all the wars and othe signs, because they have been there for people all over the centuries. It’s the tendency to apostcy from Church that I think of as the signs.

But how long that period will be, we don’t know. God decides when he want to come back to close time.

What matter, is that we are safe if we live in a way that please God!

So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring worries of its own. Today’s trouble is enough for today. (Mat 6:34)

Like that George Michael song says “Maybe we should all be praying for time.” Praying for more time for people who need to repent and return to the Lord. I know I would have been in a world of hurt if the Lord returned last year, when I was away from the Church. I hope and pray that it’s far in the future so they we can save as many souls as possible!
