Ah. Ok. But I contend atheism is no more a foolish position than a theist postion. Unless you want to play the Pascal wage card, which is dishonest at best and cynical that worst.
I wrote that it doesn’t matter to me that some Protestants “ordain” women, and it doesn’t. They can’t “ordain” at all. They lack the authority to ordain. What matters to me is that that all non-Catholic organizations wound the Body of Christ by the fact that they exist – period.I have a problem with those who say “It doesn’t matter to me because I’m not Protestant, and it doesn’t matter what they do.”
Baptized Protestants are Christians, and therefore, are our brothers and sisters in Christ. So what they do DOES matter to Catholics. It affects the Church Universal (the holy catholic church).
Well maybe in the eyes of your church, but if we believed that the Catholic church had any special authority in that matter that we Protestants do not, we would become Catholics! In other words, we don’t care what the Catholic church says. Sorry if that sounds harsh, its not meant to be, but rather a statement about the reality of the situation.I wrote that it doesn’t matter to me that some Protestants “ordain” women, and it doesn’t. Ex-Protestant, ex-agnostic, ex-atheist, ecstatic to be Catholic!
Yes, it freaks me out, but the Anglican Church has gone farther astray than just appointing women as “priests.” The Anglican Church has basically denied the Bible as revealed truth! I think that’s a larger problem, although the female clergy reflects the problem in a smaller way. It all relates, the appointment of practicing homosexuals, the marriage of homosexuals, as being just fine with God. That is where the denial of Biblical truth comes into it. Well, I expect it from them but I get frustrated when some Catholic elements start agitating for a female priesthood. God forbid!I wasn’t sure where to put this topic but it seemed to fit here I guess.
Anyway, I was walking through the shopping mall recently and saw a woman wearing a Roman collar and walking with a Bible and I remembered that my local Anglican church has a female Vicar (think thats what they call her, maybe Reverend). I must admit, I was taken aback and felt… odd. It made me feel odd because, well, the Priesthood is what it is and a woman attempting to fill that role is unnatural. I don’t know if that makes sense.
This is besides those female clergy who are openly lesbian and have partners. I remember watching an American show with 2 female vicars who were married lesbians and one shot of them had them up on the altar with bread and wine and it gave me the chills.
Only the infinite could create the finite. The finite cannot create. Therefore, if the universe had a beginning, it had to be created by something infinite, not finite. If it is infinite, it is by definition, God, for only God can be infinite. Matter cannot be infinite. Moreover, if he is infinite and he made us, then we owe him our allegiance.No. I never said that. I cannot prove a negative and you sound like a smart cookie so I guess you know that already. But I have just been called a fool for saying there is no god. So I ask the poster they know there IS one?
If they know this, Id like to see their proof.
Friend I apologize for being offensive. “They” in my post are brothers and sisters who start with ordaining female Ministers and take it to the extreme with political agendas and so on. I did not make this story up though. Let me find the link to that homosexual female Minister’s website. This is a pretty ridiculous rant. Who is “They?” no one is making a fool of God. This is just another example of the “I’m part of the Conservative Orthodoxy no one else practices the true faith.” It’s a continual never ending illogical shield that people hide behind. This whole thread approaches the ridiculous. Perhaps I’ll start a thread called "Are you offended by misogynistic practices and interpretation of the bible which the Roman Church uses? How would you guys react to that?
We do not have all the answers but we are learning more and more about the origins of the universe, and the more we learn, the more we realise there’s no creator, no plan, no divine intervention. If it is infinite, it is bt definition God - well thats a big if, and it dooesnt logically follow either.Only the infinite could create the finite. The finite cannot create. Nope the Catholic Church is not poorer. Your church is poorer for having gone against Christ’s wishes.
I would question the holiness factor as well considering that she is going against Christ’s wishes.
So on both counts, thank goodness for the Catholic Church.
This is where people get it so wrong. They somehow think that the priesthood is a right. It isn’t. It is God’s choice and it was God’s choice to call only men. To my mind this is nothing more than pride and disobedience.
The first time I saw a priestess I felt ill.
Amen!
Who is “we”? It seems to me that the more we learn, the more we can see intelligent design behind most everything. Have you ever looked into the eyes of a child? Do you think this person came about as a result of chaos; a chance meeting of just the right molecules and chemical balances? We do not have all the answers but we are learning more and more about the origins of the universe, and the more we learn, the more we realise there’s no creator, no plan, no divine intervention. We evolved, we werent made! We’re primates - mammals - no more no less. And noone can provide proof, or anything like proof, to the contrary.
Just because you “do not care” doesn’t make it right. It is our problem because it goes against the Church’s teaching. Some non-catholics believe in abortion and this goes against our teachings so you see, we do have a problem with it.Has it occurred to anyone that non-Catholics do not care whether Catholics approve of women clergy in their denominations? Women non-Catholic clergy are doing very well, thank you, without any concern from the Catholics. Let the Catholics stick to their own problems.
I must assume that you never served in the military then. You enjoy the freedoms of this country because brave men were willing to endure hardship and death to attain and defend those freedoms. For that sacrifice they are entitled to thanks and respect. We have been to a place where you will never go and we share a bond that lesser men will never know. You sleep safe in your bed at night because of us and those like us. You have never have the honor and privilege of being in harm’s way in the service of your country. Lesser men have no idea. No, Im no respecter of rank or uniform or status. Like I said, if your names jack, I call you jack. And no, I wouldnt stand to let a vet sit down. I might stand if someone is old or frail, but never because they wear or once wore a uniform. Never. And no, I dont care is someone was in a war. They get no more respect from me for it. Just because someone wore a uniform once doesnt mean they are any better or worse than anyone else. They dont automatically get respect from me for that - if theyre a nice person as I find them, then we go from there.
