Sam_777, I do not have to consult any Arab on these matters. I know there are all sorts of people amongst the Muslims as there are 101 branches, sects, off-shoots in the christians. There are Muslims who do not give any importance to Hadith (Quranis). There are others who say that Hadith is more important than Quran.I suggest before accusing me of being wrong is to consult an Arabic cleric.
In your previous post (#76) you had accused two groups as heretical and disbelievers in Hadith. You were wrong there. I had given you the right guidline but you did not avail anything from that.
So, I am sure that the right principle is :
Quran is number 1.
Sunnat is number two (2).
Hadith is number three (3).
That is the way of importance in that order. I know, some Ahle Hadith people (mostly called Wahhabis) have divergent beliefs, telling every one that Muslims learnt prayer from the books of Hadith ( like you are doing here now). That is all wrong.
You have in your next para advised me to see the two important books of Hadith which are teaching the way to pray.
That is not correct. That is only supporting that the way the Muslims pray is correct. They are proving the prayers of the Muslims, not teaching how to do Ablutions (Wudhu) and prayer…
Here are two complete books by Bukhari teaching how to perform prayer and ablution:
Sahih Bukhari, Book 12:
Characteristics of Prayer
I have replied to all that in my paras above. The books mentioned are telling how the Prophet and his companions did the Wudhu, how they prayed, how many times… etc. That is not teaching us. The books of Hadith were written about 200 years after the prophet. Do you think that during all that time, the Muslims did not know how to do Wudhu? Or they did not know how to do Hajj? or how to pray? You feel that Muslims only came to know about Wudhu and prayers and Hajj after books of Hadith came on the scene?Sahih Bukhari, Book 4:
Ablutions (Wudu’)
That is a grave mistake to think like that. hadith are very useful as a supportive matter. Moreover, they describe some very useful words from the Prophet. There is great guidance in the words of the prophet. Hadith are needed. But the more important is the practice of the Muslims which is continued from day One. That is a non-broken (chain) actual observed way of doing things, i.e. called Sunnat. i.e. the actual practice of the prophet. It may have been recorded in the books of Hadih or not. But the practice is continued from generation to generation, in very large number of people.
The Hadith may have been known to a few individuals only, and quoted from person to another person over a very long time. Then coded and compiled and written (recorded with great care.)
Our Hadith is just like your bible. Please understand. It is the work of the people. It was an effort on the part of some learned persons to collect the sayings of the prophet and his deeds so as to be useful.
The prophet Muhammad had translated the whole Quran by his practice from day one. Everybody saw and knew about his way of life. Nobody needed any book to know about the prophet Muhammad.
Thanks for your interest in these matters. Any one who disregards the importance of the Hadith is a misguided heretical person. But There are rules. Hadith cannot be allowed to take charge of the Quran. It cannot go against any verse of the Quran. It cannot go against well known authentic Hadith. Such Hadith will be rejected. The Hadith should also not be against the well known practice of the prophet i.e. his Sunnah.
Hadith should serve the Quran and the Sunnah. Not to take charge of them.
