That has no meaning. The Christians are also leaving the church business. It is a two way traffic, not one way.
Well, this is the first sensible thing you have said.
Look. Muslim Woman’s argument seems to be that the Qur’an’s ability to be memorized by Muslims is a miracle, so the Qur’an’s message must be true. I challenge that claim. Here is what you posted in #199:
- Think of his [Mohammed’s] ways. He told the scribes to write down the revealed verses of the Qur’an. There were more than one scribe.
- He informed all his friends about the new revelations and they learnt the words of the Qur’an by heart (in memory).
- Daily prayers were ordained for the Msulims to pray to the Only One God (Allah). During those prayers, Qur’an was loudly recited and every one heard the words. If there was any mistake, it was challenged there and then.
- The prophet Muhammad (The Messenger of Allah) used to lead the prayers himself too. He also recited the Qur’an and every one listened to the words carefully. There was a check and recheck going on constantly. There could be no mistake. Can you see that?
- The scribes were writing and the prophet listened to what they had written. If it was not what he had dictated, he would correct it at once. He did not read and write. Yet there was no problem, no mistake.
So here you have admitted that even the
original eyewitness followers of Mohammed could make an error in their memory. What makes you think the memories of Muslims today are any better?
The Iliad is an ancient Greek epic poem about the Trojan War. It is much, much longer than the Qur’an and had been handed down orally
from memory by the poets long before it was written down. Did the poets’ mere memorization of
The Iliad make the Trojan War a true historical event?
No! But according to the Islamic memorization claim, it would be, even though to historians it is still an open question.
However, I will state that the ability to memorize is
a miracle of God’s creation, but mere memorization is not knowledge. Plus, everyone has the ability to memorize to some extent. The ability of the human mind
to know something is the
real miracle.
I have said many times here that mere memorization of a text doesn’t make its message true. Truth is knowledge; mere memorization is not.
