On this glorious day of Pentecost, by the grace of God, we celebrate our Assyrian brothers and sisters joining the Catholic Church. This day will echo the workings of the Holy Spirit through the ages and serve as a great triumph of unity within the Church. For more information visit www.kaldu.org for all the latest developments. Praise be to God always.
Pentecost Sunday Basilica Hymn
The Lord will send his grace and his truth
Before the Lord God, the Lord of all the earth
The Holy Spirit; he whom God gives to those who believe in him, and all are filled with the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit who was sent from God, the Father of Truth, to the assembly of Apostles by a graceful gift strengthened them, encouraged their minds in his Gospel and instructed their simplicity by his teaching through a multiplicity of tongues, that they may henceforth become ambassadors among all peoples, proclaimers of the kingdom of heaven, evangelists, and preachers of the Trinity

Is the Assyrian community in Seattle part of this group?

Peace and God bless!

There is celebration in Heaven!

John 17:20-22 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one”

Amen! Alleluia!

Yes! 🙂

Dear Ghosty, have you had a chance yet to stop by and visit that church yet?
Unfortunately my work schedule has been quite hectic and I haven’t been able to make it over during a time when people are there.

This update certainly gives a push to do so quickly, however!

Peace and God bless!

There is an Assyrian Church here in Phoenix. Are they part of the Unity Movement as well?

There is already a Catholic Chaldean church. If so, will the Assyrian parish continue as a separate congregation?

Dear Bpbasilphx,

The Assyrian congregation in Phoenix is not part of this movement. Those within the congregation who support this movement will be going to the Chaldean Church there.

Peace,
Anthony

Dear all,

For those who want to see some videos of the events, there are some now posted on: kaldu.org/WeeklyNews.html

I was there and one thing that was unexpected and yet I enjoyed very very much {in my simple joys} was the presence of the Knights of Columbus there. God bless them!

🙂
Peace,

Why do they wear Latin vestments?

U-C
They seem to be going through a lot of latinizations that they can’t seem to shake off. I’m still confused that they use the term “Mass” instead of “Qurbana.”

I am overjoyed that this union occured though!👍

Al-Masih Qam!

What latin vestments? The mitres? Those are probably latinizations, but the East syriac “chausable” is similar to a latin cope. Western syriacs call it a “Phiano” but I do not know what the assyro-chaldean name for it is. I guess the cassocks here are western too…I have heard that there are a lot of latinizations in the Chaldean church.

Speaking of latinizations, do some Eastern rites have the iconostasis and others have an arrangement similar to the Tridentine Mass? I was just looking at the pictures provided and wondered…

The iconostasis is a Byzantine tradition. Not all Eastern christians are byzantine. They all generally have something analogous to it. Armenians have a curtain , for example.

Yeah the parish looks pretty NO, but I have seen other Chaldean parishes that appeared pretty NO as well . Latinization really isn’t a fair word in this case… more like modernization.
