Disagreement is one thing, but saying things like Pope Francis is turning the CC into an apostate church is appalling.
Well, I personally have never said that and I would be wary of priests who speak like this. We ought to respect the Pope no matter what.

It’s easy to quote Jesus on mercy, but His words on marriage are crystal clear. “A man who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery.”
So for one mistake in life, that cannot be undone, your basically screwed for life? I’m sorry, but Jesus death on the cross forgives that.

You’re not “screwed for life”. Everyone has choices. it is ok to separate from a spouse for serious reason, but until an annulment is granted the marriage is presumed valid. So you can’t remarry unless this is the case.

Marriage is a sacred sacrament that is binding until death. Jesus instituted this and commanded it so I don’t see a contradiction with His other teachings.

Yes, the sin can be forgiven through His sacrifice on the cross. But it can only be done if there is the desire to move away from the sin being committed.

I find this all quite disturbing. Without exception, so far as I’ve seen, the current Pope has made it has strong policy to open the Church to ALL people who want God in their lives, whatever their backgrounds and whatever their sins.

I wonder what Jesus would have said? 1) “They dug their own graves. Let them burn for their sins.” 2) Forgive them, encourage them, and let the Lord God judge them for their minds and hearts."

I very much believe the latter to be the case, and I very much believe the Pope is an almost perfect expression of that view. Thanks to him, people are coming BACK to the Church, or showing an interest in it for the first time, who otherwise would not have.

Beware obsessing about the letter of the law when your spiritual betters are promoting the spirit of the law, because surely obstructing the spread of kindness, forgiveness and generosity is only a very small step away from being an enemy of the true Christ.

He is my Pope. I love him and I pray for him. Yes, there are things that I may personally disagree with him, but I seek to understand his mind and what he is trying to say. The bad reporting and publicity by the secular media do not help but these are the enemies of the Church, so we can expect as much. We always need to cautiously study what is being reported. It is better to read in full the letters or encyclicals by the Pope so that we can see the whole picture.

Popes are gifts from God to be our shepherds on earth and we are to be grateful to them and to accord our respect for them.

Your like the men who want to stone this women. Even Jesus forgives adultery. So should the church.
Ad Hominem attacks won’t help your point.

The passage you posted just proves my point. Jesus wasn’t going to bar the woman from being in a relationship with the Lord, but He does give the command to not sin anymore.

He didn’t say “Go now and go back to the man you were committing adultery with.”

If someone is repentant and wants forgiveness they won’t be turned away. but the condition is that they will make a movement to cut the sin out of their lives. This is written as well in Amoris Laetitia.

It’s the same with all sins, the condition for forgiveness is that we will not continue to sin in this way.

It should be noted that obedience to the Holy Father does not necessarily mean you agree with each and every single thing that he does or says as his opinion, but, as someone mentioned earlier, give him the benefit of the doubt and do as he asks. Criticism is not always a bad thing: St. Catherine of Sienna was critical of the Pope remaining in Avignon and wrote him saying as much!

I wish, for example, the Pope could be more clear in his words and meddle more with his bishops (most notably in recent times, the German bishops 😫)!

There was that one time that they let an atheist reporter do an interview and then claimed that hell didn’t exist. Not to mention that the reporter is old, didn’t make notes, and also had a past history of distorting things. The news causes all sorts of problems. However it should motivate us to pray for the sovereign pontiff.

Remembering also that Peter and Paul had a disagreement or two! And the 12 argued over who was the greatest, while James and John wanted to sit at our Lord’s left and right hands.

They’re human!

Thankfully the Holy Father is thick-skinned .

There are those cafeteria Catholics who have refused to accept any Pope as valid since Pope Pius XII , so they will say all sorts of wrong things about Pope Francis .

Maybe some who criticize the Holy Father do so for political reasons .

Maybe some dislike the Holy Father because he reminds us of some of the teachings of Jesus which challenge us in our comfort zone .

My hunch is that the criticism aimed at the Holy Father is an indication that he is doing things right , for Jesus said , " “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account ."

Every so often I venture to a couple ultra conservative sites where the criticism of Pope Francis can be vicious, including those who believe he is the anti-pope (whatever that is). I get out of there quickly.
I remember that St. Catherine of Siena was tasked by God to bring the very weak pope, a tool of the French government at the time, back from France to Rome. He had to be cajoled. Yet she insisted he never be criticized or called anything but “God’s sweet representative on Earth.”
In his time even Pope John Paul II was heavily criticized by some. You can’t win this battle!

Yes , @Limoncello4021 , I have come across sites like that .

There was a Catholic forum which I used to use , and I had to leave it alone because of some of the nasty stuff which used to be posted about Pope Francis .

Like you say , you can’t win this battle .

The truth is as far as I know every Pope has been heavily criticized . There are some Catholics who do not like submitting to the Magisterium .

Welcome to the Catholic Answers Forums.
It wasn’t here on CAF that I saw these vicious attacks on our Blessed Pope Francis, but on other sites. The moderators do a good job here of not allowing any attacks on the magistrates thankfully.

CAF is a really great forum and has helped me tremendously come back home to my mother Catholic Church.
