It seems the chap claims to know the mind of God too.It seems that the chap actually believes in God.

I think saying he “voiced his opinion on gay marriage” rather underplays what he actually said. His comments were directed at persons who engage in homosexual acts and he expressed a view on the fate awaiting them (hell). He was dropped from the Australian international rugby team for voicing his opinion on gay marriage.
I like the guy but I don’t agree with the comments he made here.
Did I say “voiced his opinion” I meant preaching the gospel.I think saying he “voiced his opinion on gay marriage” rather underplays what he actually said. His comments were directed at persons who engage in homosexual acts and he expressed a view on the fate awaiting them (hell).
In engineering no employer would care as it has nothing to do with our workHow many employers do you know who would except his behaviour?
In your opinion national sportsmen cannot paraphrase the bible on instagram, cannot give a sermon at their local parish and cannot express themselves on social media… They must be social justice warriors. But as a national sports person who’s paid to be professional. He crossed the line sorry.
So your job is more important to you than God’s word.As a professional in any employment you can’t go around saying these things.
The post was crass. It’s not a model we should follow. Our Bishops and priests don’t follow that example of preaching the gospel. As to whether he should have been sacked - I’ve not commented on that. The post that got him sacked was directed at everyone not only gay people and even if it was he shouldn’t be sacked.
Then level this criticism at the Pope, Bishops and Priests who do not preach in the crass manner of Israel Folau. The idea is to change hearts for the better - not to harden them. This is typical of Catholics, happy to sit quietly and watch society fall into sin.
Ur basically saying the word of God is unintelligent and insensitive as the post paraphrases Paul’s words in Galatians 5: 19-21The post was crass
My criticism is directed at all Catholics, especially the clergy. Im not talking about the hearts of individuals but the mentality of society. When the topic of gay marriage, abortion, etc comes up I hear nothing from the church when they should be speaking up against legalizing any sinful acts. Then level this criticism at the Pope, Bishops and Priests who do not preach in the crass manner of Israel Folau. I’m addressing Folau’s comments including the manner and context in which he said them. He did more harm than good.Ur basically saying the word of God is unintelligent and insensitive as the post paraphrases Paul’s words in Galatians 5: 19-21
Then you must be deaf. Of course the Church spoke up and argued against gay marriage. Are you suggesting we should have a law making illegal pre-marital sex? That’s a sinful act. Homosexual acts used to be illegal. Do you think the good would be served by making them illegal? I doubt you’ve thought this through. When the topic of gay marriage, abortion, etc comes up I hear nothing from the church when they should be speaking up against legalizing any sinful acts.
I’ve not said or implied any of that. Those are all your words. Why should we be more sensitive to gay people than to other sinners anyway?
Why do they deserve to be regarded so highly that no one can disagree with them?
I must be deaf cos I heard nothing from the church here. Then you must be deaf. Of course the Church spoke up and argued against gay marriage
Perhaps u can help me think it through…Homosexual acts used to be illegal. Do you think the good would be served by making them illegal? I doubt you’ve thought this through.
I never said anything about sermon… I know many wise priests who love God with all their hearts. In your opinion national sportsmen cannot paraphrase the bible on instagram, cannot give a sermon at their local parish and cannot express themselves on social media… They must be social justice warriors.
I neither support it nor defend it - you just made that up. That’s twice now you’ve done that.Did that even cross your mind before u started defending and supporting gay sex?
That’s not what I meant but I can see how you got that interpretation. Just replace the term “sinful acts” with “homosexual acts”You expressed a preference for sinful acts to be illegal (advocating the church should advocate accordingly). I asked earlier - does this include pre-marital sex ?
Misunderstandings from both of us I guess.I neither support it nor defend it - you just made that up. That’s twice now you’ve done that.
So I asked you to help me think it through. I’ve explained why it should be illegal.Homosexual acts used to be illegal. Do you think the good would be served by making them illegal? I doubt you’ve thought this through.
They are legal. Private personal actions involving consenting adults are ordinarily not opposed by free (secular) societies. A relevant question would be: would there be merit (in the present times) in making them illegal? You’ve suggested a public health benefit. That would depend on the actual health threat (unknown to me - but interested to look at any credible reference material you have) + the level of compliance such a law (if it could ever be enacted) would receive (which is probably minimal). Offsetting that would be the considerable harm that supporting the cause of making homosexual relationships illegal would do. Harm to the cause of encouraging the better course for persons experiencing SSA and harm to the cause of promoting Christianity.Would the good be served by making them legal?
It is you that hasn’t thought this through my friend. That would depend on the actual health threat (unknown to me
If the public health risk could be credibly quantified, and if the impact of a change of law could be credibly gauged, your question could be answered.I hope you agree that public health is more important than anything else in this case.
Those who engage in homosexual acts… of course not those who have repented! You might note that my post was to correct the blatantly misrepresentation of another. His comments were directed towards the unrepentent. Lets stick with facts.
