The BNP movement had been banned by the Catholic Church and even in the Philippines by Cardinal Sin yet, BNP continued to reject the ban. The BNP movement said that the ban had been rescinded but had not proven their declaration. I don’t know any diocese in the US who supports BNP’s activities. If there’s any, they should present a proof here.

The bible had instructed us to obey our church, *the pillar of our faith *(1Timothy3.15). Any priest or bishop who disagrees with the bishop who issued the ban is not union with the Catholic Church and the pope. Our bishops are not divided.

BNP movement is a lay ministry NOT authorized or supported by the Catholic Church. Who gave them authority? Ate Salve and the BNP staff made themselves the authority. I repeat they had been banned by the church. The banning letter from San Bernardino’s bishop should be enough to stop their activities but they defied the authority and continued their money making events. They need money to maintain the multi-million dollar compound in Ontario California. They had built it separately from the Catholic Church because they can’t hold their retreats and events in any Catholic property. If they are Catholic, why are they not in union with the Catholic Church?

“Rommelh” even tried to educate us with his knowledge about being Catholic but can’t even translate correctly. Now, he translated Mahal Na Ingkong as Great Grandfather and “Granny”. Granny is slang for grandmother and Great grandfather is the father of the grandfather. So Mahal Na Ingkong means Beloved Grandmother now and Beloved Great Grandfather is the fifth god who is greater than the Grandfather and Jesus Christ? He even accused the bishops as one sided. Is he really a true catholic? Anyone who claims to be a Catholic should be obedient with the church, no matter how strong his opinion is. He must be in union with the church.

I believe the BNP, have their own catechism in teaching the catholic faith. Maybe Rommelh should read Catholic catechism or research this Catholic website to learn more about our Catholic faith. Catholicscomehome.org is also an excellent site. These sites are the teaching magesterium of the Catholic Faith. I had learned so much here. The truth is in our Catholic Church who could interpret phenomena anyone may observe.

About Ate Salve (BNP’s matriarch who had multiple husbands), I was wondering if Mahal Na Ingkong (Beloved Grandfather ) told Ate Salve to leave her family in the Philippines, get an annulment, remarry in the US, and petition all her children. If God uses her as an instrument and she had been in constant contact with “Him” since 1968, why did God allow it to happen. I wonder if she was really submissive to her first husband. This is one of the reasons I have strong disbelief about Ate Salve.

My suspicion is Ate Salve had an annulment for economic reasons just like some of us who migrated to the US; get a divorce or annulment and remarry. I hope to find more about her real life since her encounter with Mahal Na Ingkong in 1968 in Amadeo, Cavite, Philippines. If my belief is wrong, please let me know.

If any BNP member has any true story about Ate Salve since 1968 please, share it here. What actually happened in 1968 between Mahal Na Ingkong and Ate Salve? When did she get married? When did she arrive in the US? What was her status when she came to the US? Is her former husband still alive? We only hear one side of her story.

The personal and private life of a leader in a Catholic movement must not be secret. *“A church leader must be without fault…, must only have one wife…, must not love money…, must be able to manage his family…, and must be mature in faith. *(1Timothy 3.2-6)

I suspect “Believer112” is Ate Salve’s present husband, or one of her elder, or one of her children. Maybe Rommelh, too. I noticed their comments were for self interest and not for a true Catholic faith. If not identify yourself, you have nothing to hide. I have no problem to identify myself.

The BNP movement compared Ate Salve to Mother Theresa who was a nun and a true servant of God. Ate Salve is very far from her. Ate Salve had multiple husbands whom Rommelh said she had a right to be happy.

They even stated in the fullness of time Ate Salve will be recognized and become a saint.

A fifteen year devout BNP member told me before he left the BNP movement Ate Salve approached him and said, “WHY ARE YOU LEAVING? THE HOLY SPIRIT IS ALREADY HERE.” What would this comment tell you.

I had witnessed Ate Salve. She is an IMPOSTOR. God’s first commandment is “…You shall have no other Gods before Me”. Why would Jesus Christ chose Ate Salve (with multiple husbands) to play God? Why would God use an instrument like Ate Salve to act and represent God to convince us that we have a living God?

The second commandment which I believed every BNP did to Ate Salve, “…*Do not bow down to any idol or worship it.” * What do they understand about this commandment? Our church and the bible is enough in our Catholic faith.

It is evident Ate Salve and her children have a lavish life style now since they left Philippines. She owns a mansion in the Philippines which my BNP children (who had been brainwashed) told me that homeless people lived there but found to be incorrect. It was Ate Salve’s families who lived there in luxury.

Father Corapi (EWTN) stated “Nobody plays God!”

Patrick Madrid, EWTN apologist said “Nobody represents or acts as God.”

If the BNP staffs brag they believe they had helped the children, they taught them to lie and brainwashed them to believe Ate Salve has God’s presence, to bow down to her, and to violate the second commandment.

Please, google search Mahal Na Ingkong, you will be surprised how many Filipinos have gone astray from the Catholic faith. They have a different Mahal Na Ingkong.

Truth is absolute.

If the BNP movement is a Catholic movement, why are they not in union with the Catholic Church? Why can’t they use church facilities to hold their retreats? Why are the parish priests or bishops not aware about the retreats held in their jurisdiction?

Please, notice this thread is in “Non Catholic religion”. What do they understand about that? Is it to prove they are still right?

Let us all unite to the one holy Catholic and apostolic church that we all believe. May God bless us all.

Hey sfbayherc, I’ll try to answer your points as best as I can through my own experiences 👍

The ban that was imposed by Cardinal Sin has been rescinded, the issue with the ban was a misunderstanding where the Banal Na Pag-aaral was wrongly affiliated with another group.

The bible had instructed us to obey our church, *the pillar of our faith *(1Timothy3.15). Any priest or bishop who disagrees with the bishop who issued the ban is not union with the Catholic Church and the pope. Our bishops are not divided. We are obeying and following the Catholic Church.

I don’t live in the California area so I’m not familiar with the ban from San Bernardino. Yes there is a center in Ontario, California to hold retreats and other events to help spread the word of God - instead of places being rented out each time a retreat was being held, the buildings were built in order to have the facilities we needed to help show people that God is present. You say that we are not in union with the Catholic church, from what I know, there are a few main things that make the Catholic Church what is it in it’s belief … the Holy Mass, adoration to the Blessed Sacrament, devotion to our Blessed Mother Mary, and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. There are things that I see as key to the Catholic faith and the majority of the BNP members DO partake in all of them.

“Rommelh” even tried to educate us with his knowledge about being Catholic but can’t even translate correctlyWhy do you have to personally attack someone if they can’t “translate correctly?”. “Mahal Na Ingkong” was the name that God introduced Himself to Ate Salve with. Within the BNP there is no “requirement” or “standard” of calling God “Mahal Na Ingkong.” Again that was the name that was introduced to Ate Salve and she shared it with us. If the people decide on their own to use the name to call God, then that’s their own personal relationship with Him. I personally call Him my Lord God, Father … I know some people who call Him their Brother, their Sister, their Mother … even some who call Him their Friend or Bestfriend.

Why do you believe that the BNP has their own Catechism?

About Ate Salve (BNP’s matriarch who had multiple husbands), I was wondering if Mahal Na Ingkong (Beloved Grandfather ) told Ate Salve to leave her family in the Philippines, get an annulment, remarry in the US, and petition all her children. If God uses her as an instrument and she had been in constant contact with “Him” since 1968, why did God allow it to happen. I wonder if she was really submissive to her first husband. This is one of the reasons I have strong disbelief about Ate Salve. Here from my point of view you are questioning God … why? In your asking “why did God allow it to happen” it seems as if you’re trying to limit God, put Him in a box. The God that I know is limitless and can do anything and everything, there’s always a reason, sometimes we see the reasons and the end results, sometimes we don’t. I’m not at liberty to tell the story of her previous marriage, which has since then been annulled, that is her personal story that if she wishes to share, she will and she does during the retreats.

If that’s what you believe then that’s on you, I’m not here to tell you what you believe or not to believe, I’m simply here to shed light on the subject of the BNP and what I know through the things I’ve been through in the past 20 years of my life in and out of the BNP.

Again this is something that she herself would have to share to you in person or at a retreat.

The personal and private life of a leader in a Catholic movement must not be secret. *“A church leader must be without fault…, must only have one wife…, must not love money…, must be able to manage his family…, and must be mature in faith. *(1Timothy 3.2-6) Nice quote, I see all of the above in Ate Salve.

People are entitled to their own way of thinking, their own way of talking. If the two you mentioned above were commenting more for self interest, then that’s them, they have the free will to do so.

The BNP movement compared Ate Salve to Mother Theresa who was a nun and a true servant of God. Ate Salve is very far from her. Ate Salve had multiple husbands whom Rommelh said she had a right to be happy. Where have you heard the actual BNP movement compare Ate Salve to Mother Theresa? If you heard this from someone’s mouth, or read it through someone’s post then what’s the issue? People are entitled to think and feel a certain way about a person. I personally think that my mother is a Saint, is there a problem there? Again you touch on the multiple husbands … the first one was annulled, if I can get you documentation on that, I’ll share it with you.

They even stated in the fullness of time Ate Salve will be recognized and become a saint. Again I’ll ask, where/who did you hear it from? If someone or a group of people think and believe that a person that they know is being used by God as an instrument should and will become a Saint, what is the issue?

A fifteen year devout BNP member told me before he left the BNP movement Ate Salve approached him and said, “WHY ARE YOU LEAVING? THE HOLY SPIRIT IS ALREADY HERE.” What would this comment tell you. It tells me that Ate Salve believes whole heartedly that the Holy Spirit is within the BNP. What does it tell you?

I had witnessed Ate Salve. She is an IMPOSTOR. God’s first commandment is “…You shall have no other Gods before Me”. Why would Jesus Christ chose Ate Salve (with multiple husbands) to play God? Why would God use an instrument like Ate Salve to act and represent God to convince us that we have a living God? I see a recurring issue that you raise … multiple husbands … it seems a real issue with you and again if I can get the documentation of the annullment then I will surely send it to you. You claim that she’s an impostor … an impostor of what? You’re absolutely correct with the first commandment, there is no other God. As with another statement you had above it seems as if you’re trying to limit what God can do … have you and are you asking the questions of why did God use Moses? Why did God speak through a burning bush? Why did God send His only son to us as a human?

The second commandment which I believed every BNP did to Ate Salve, “…*Do not bow down to any idol or worship it.” * What do they understand about this commandment? Our church and the bible is enough in our Catholic faith. Are you claiming that we are worshiping Ate Salve and/or bowing down to her? If so, then you are sadly mistaken and it sounds like misinformed. Ate Salve is a regular human being and is being used by God in His own special way. Is there a limit to what God can do or how He can work with through a human being? We ALL are used by God as instruments every single day.

It is evident Ate Salve and her children have a lavish life style now since they left Philippines. She owns a mansion in the Philippines which my BNP children (who had been brainwashed) told me that homeless people lived there but found to be incorrect. It was Ate Salve’s families who lived there in luxury. A mansion? A lavish lifestyle? Where are you getting this information from?

Father Corapi (EWTN) stated “Nobody plays God!” Agreed, and she’s not playing God.

Patrick Madrid, EWTN apologist said “Nobody represents or acts as God.”Agreed, and shes’ not representing or acting as God.

If the BNP staffs brag they believe they had helped the children, they taught them to lie and brainwashed them to believe Ate Salve has God’s presence, to bow down to her, and to violate the second commandment. See my response to “bowing down and worshiping her” a few paragraphs above. I’d like to point you to the fruits of the tree … as I said in an earlier post that my experience in the BNP has solidified my Catholic faith, it has brought me closer to God and has changed my life for the better. Going from a life of not knowing God, not knowing His presence in my life, to a life where He is with me everyday, everywhere, to a life of trying to be the best Catholic possible. Instead of being out there in partying on Fridays, I’m at church praying in front of the Blessed Sacrament. Where is the wrong in that? There is the brainwashing in that?

Please, google search Mahal Na Ingkong, you will be surprised how many Filipinos have gone astray from the Catholic faith. They have a different Mahal Na Ingkong. As with the response to the ban I had above, there was a misunderstanding with an affiliation to another group who claimed to have a leader who was being used by Ingkong.

Truth is absolute. Yes it is, and the truth is in God.

If the BNP movement is a Catholic movement, why are they not in union with the Catholic Church? Why can’t they use church facilities to hold their retreats? Why are the parish priests or bishops not aware about the retreats held in their jurisdiction? As in most cases of other religious movements, the Catholic Church has to investigate and do their research, intensively before a final decision is made. We do sometimes use the church facilities to hold retreats. As you shared in a previous post there is a “ban” in certain areas where we are not allowed to use church facilities. In my area I know that some priests do know of the retreats going on, some come out to give the Holy Mass and the Sacrament of Reconciliation during the retreats.

Please, notice this thread is in “Non Catholic religion”. What do they understand about that? Is it to prove they are still right? I think the reason this thread is int he “Non Catholic religion” section is easy … just look at the title of the thread, the originator was asking a question and wanted to know if the BNP was Catholic “Re: B.N.P.? They claim to be Catholic … anyone know?” My answer to that is yes. I’ve been a Catholic my whole life and like I said, my Catholic faith has been stronger since I involved myself with the BNP.

Let us all unite to the one holy Catholic and apostolic church that we all believe. May God bless us all.Agreed and I will continue to do so, God Bless.

I wasn’t going to answer anymore questions or post any more comments in this thread ,but I have to clarify some things that demand an answer from me .

I am not in anyway related to Ate Salve , I am not BNP council member. I am a vigil adorer who has been in the BNP movement for appoximately 14 yrs.

The BNP does not need the approval of any diocese to proclaim the Good News . It is a lay movement that preaches the approved Catholic doctrine and dogma . The code of canon does not prohibit any group or movement from preaching the Good News . And if that’s not enough there is the 1st amendment of the US Constitution at guarantees the freedom of religion

SFBAYHERC keeps up the ad hominem attacks on Ate Salve.
He states that she has had multiple husbands. This is untrue , since the Ate Salve’s first marriage was annullled, which means that the first marriage never existed , ergo , Ate Salve has only been married once in the eyes of God and the Catholic Church. If you have any proof that this is not so , please post it .

Please get your facts straight , just because you suspect something does not mean its true. Suspicions should never be grounds for personal attacks.

Mahal Na Ingkong is a name for God that we use in the BNP, sfbayherc insistes that it means a Beloved Grandfather.
I use the translation Beloved Father.
Answer me this , how does one become a grandfather without first becoming a father? You cannot become a grandpa , without first going through fatherhood. The terms father and grandfather are mutually inclusive. meaning that they can be applied to the same person at the same time.
So my translation of Mahal Na Ingkong to mean Beloved Father must be correct .

I have addressed the ban letters and interdicts on previous posts and other threads. I do not want to readdress them again at the risk of overprolonging this post.

As to the phenomena that accompanies the BNP and Mahal Na Ingkong. I can only say this.
GOD works in mysterious ways . His wisdom and love are infinite. But His ways are not our ways.

May God bless you and yours

I have had a family member recently get involved peripherally with the BNP. Although their activities seem relatively benign this is definitely not something that true traditional Roman Catholics want to get involved in. One can always judge the legitmacy of group by how ‘in line’ with Rome they are…in seemingly little ways their teachings contradict the Catechism of the Church. For example, …special knowledge on what MNI’s real birthday is, favorite drink, etc. Seems silly but anything , no matter how minor that separates a Catholic from the truth and the true Catechism of the Church unfortunately should be considered an evil. The big red flag though is their adoration activities…somehow they get a hold of a Host and have adoration in someone’s house in their own sanctified home chapels…this is certainly an abuse.

There seems to be some misunderstanding here . the
BNP teachings do not contradict the Catholic Church’s teachings and cathechism , You refer to Mahal Na Ingkong’s
brithday . This event is celebrated in October , not because this is like Christmas , but because that is when He manifested , started the Mission of the BNP ,and the movement was founded. I do not have any knowlege of MNI’s favorite drink ,etc , and as far as I know this has never been discussed .

The question if the BNP teachings are evil or not is up to your discernment , but shouldn’t you at least refrain from judging the movement using admittedly second hand information .

The BNP does hold vigil adoration in private homes , but in every vigil I have gone to , there has never been a sanctified Host present. The vigil adoration uses a picture of Jesus Christ in an otherwise empty room with candles for illumination .

I hope this helps to clarify some mistakes about the BNP and its practices.

may God continue to bless you and yours…

YES! BNP is most definitely Catholic! I believe that any group who practices the ways and teachings of the Catholic religion has the right to claim that their group is a Catholic group. And from my experience as a member, we have been doing that!

However, I noticed that the point of contention in this thread is not the question of whether or not BNP is claiming to be catholic. Certainly, BNP is making that claim. I think most people here are questioning the legitimacy of the group as a catholic organization.

In my opinion, every catholic organization’s biggest goal is to promote the enrichment of the faith of its members. Alongside with it, build a community of brothers and sisters bound by camaraderie, fellowship and ONE faith. And also, to evangelize and become apostles themselves, spreading the Good News to more and more people. There may still be others but I guess everybody will agree with me on these three.

Personally, I am experiencing all these in BNP. I have enriched my faith through the vigil adoration where i developed a more personal and a deeper relationship with God. It also brought me such nice people to become my brothers and sisters. This community has become my support group in terms of my faith.

I joined just 2 years ago and quite honestly, I still have a lot of questions, or you may say, doubts about the group itself. I haven’t met Ate, I haven’t seen any of those phenomena so I don’t believe it yet, The term “Mahal Na Ingkong” hasn’t sinked in on me yet. I haven’t even been to the shrine in Amadeo. But when i think about it, my spiritual growth continues even without all those things! and that’s the thing that matters more to me. and so, i’m not going anywhere. I’m staying.

Personally, I believe that the recognition or rejection of BNP as a group is also a matter of personal opinion and preference. People who do not believe in the group may have their reasons for not doing so. On the other hand, there are people who believe in the group and stay. At the end of the day, i think everybody should just live with it and respect each other’s opinion.

I never believed in debates about religion, and organizations, for that matter. I actually find it pathetic and pointless. Its like asking who’s the better mom, your mom or my mom? It will never end and no one wins, because at the end of it all, our decision and conviction comes from how we have experienced it and how it affected us. Its the same with our perception of BNP, the believers and non-believers have their reason for staying on each side.

At the end of the day, it still boils down to personal opinion…choice…preference.
But behind that choice is yet another thing…
“Are you being called to be in BNP?”

May God Bless us all!

This is my own opinion about Banal Na Pagaaral. I have been a member of BNP for 15 years.

As a movement, Banal Na Pag-aaral is NOT a Catholic Organization. Catholic organizations are formed and mandated by the Catholic church. All programs and activities must be approved by the Catholic heriarchy. BNP is a lay movement run by a lay leader. Members are mostly catholics and practice Catholic teachings and doctrines We go to church on Sundays, we are taught to hear confession once a month, most members adore the Blessed Sacrament in our own parishes weekly, chapters in most states conduct Marian classes to propagate the devotion to our Blessed Mother, and in some chapters we sponsor mass (many couples) church weddings for those who cannot afford and baptisms as well.

BNP is Christ-centered and Marian oriented. Once you become a member, you will know, by His grace, the importance of the Eucharist and the role of Mary (Mother of God) in our life. That is why most members become daily communicants and devotees of the Blessed Mother. They pray the rosary daily.

In my years as a member of the BNP, I see people come and go. Some stay and become active, some leave. I can see that becoming a member and joining activities make one individual or family a better believer of Christ and change life for good. In fact most parents feel secured if their children are with the BNP youth activities as they learn to appreciate the Blessed Sacrament and pray the rosary at their early age. And in most cases, they become better children.

I believe that nobody could ever explain what BNP is all about. I remember asking one youth graduate after his graduation from a youth class retreat, if he can describe how did his retreat class go…he quickly answered…“its something you CANNOT explain…you have to experience it”…

So “come…and see”…for those who want to know more about BNP. Its a gift to us…who are called.

After much research into controversies on Banal Na Pagaaral, “mahal na ingkong,” ect., I have concluded (though I may not be the only one) that Banal Na Pagaaral’s founder “Ate Salve” has attempted to mimic the workings of “Mamang Viring” or “Maria Virginia” who is the founder of the “Apostolic Catholic Church” or ACC (which is a Filipino-based schismatic group/cult started in the late 60’s not associated with the true, one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church headed by the Pope).

The similarities are striking:

-Maria Virginia of the ACC claims to have the Holy Spirit working through her; she is venerated by many followers.
-Ate Salve of the BNP also claims to have the Holy Spirit working through her; she, as well, is venerated as a saint by thousands who are part of the BNP

-The ACC coined the name “Mahal Na Ingkong” as the Holy Spirit, although the word itself nor the translation is found in niether Sacred Scripture nor Sacred Tradition of the Roman Catholic Church
-The BNP also uses the name “Mahal Na Ingkong” to refer to the Holy Spirit

-During Holy Week, Maria Virginia imitates Christ and performs strange rituals that mirror the events during the passion of Jesus Christ (such as the Last Supper, Carrying of the Cross, etc.) to which devotees take as miraculous
-Ate Salve also performs Holy Week rituals and is as well venerated by followers.

-Maria Virginia vests herself in clothing as seen on the Black Nazarene when performing such rituals
-BNP members have claim to see Ate Salve robed in garments seen on the Black Nazarene during Holy Week ritual vigils

-ACC claim to be apostolic and catholic; they also claim to be superior to the Roman Catholic Church
-BNP claim to be a catholic organization

Many bishops have discouraged the faithful to join any of these so-called Catholic groups.

I witnessed the “instrument”, Ate Salve, dressed in a robe (white/blue) like Jesus would wear, walk out… and then, I kid you not, started glowing… she walked another few steps, stopped, then shrunk into a statue of infant Jesus. A few moments later, she morphed back to herself and fainted.I know this may sounds crazy to those that weren’t there. But I promise you it happened. Camera tricks, smoke, mirrors? Not sure. But it seemed real to me.**

Sound EXACTLY what is called “prelest” (spiritual/demonic delusion) by Eastern Christians.

Hi Everyone!

it just happened that i was browsing this tread not knowing that this is about a Filipino Cult.

With every ones indulgence, Can I Ask who are the Filipinos here in these forums? Just curious so i may know that i am replying to a Kababayan.

Sorry for going off topic:)

I know a friend of mine who claims he is Catholic, but he is active in a different sect of it called the “banal na paagaral” or BNP. I did my research a little and all I know is that some lady named Ate Salve is the founder and she believes she is holy? Anyone know of this sect (or cult) ? Can anyone explain to me what they believe because they claim to be Catholic, but I hear it isn’t recognized by the Vatican and that the Archdiocese of Detroit has place a band on their activities on Catholic property.

It’s a good thing you’ve explained what BNP stands for 😃 : in the UK, the BNP = the British National Party (not a movement to get involved with )

**If someone believes themselves to be holy, that shows they are not; that should be a warning sign, even by itself. **

The ACC was founded according to its website in 1985
THe BNP ( Banal Na Pag-aaral ) was founded in October 1968 .
So who is mimicking whom ? I leave the obvious conclusion to the readerThe similarities are striking:

-Maria Virginia of the ACC claims to have the Holy Spirit working through her; she is venerated by many followers.
-Ate Salve of the BNP also claims to have the Holy Spirit working through her; she, as well, is venerated as a saint by thousands who are part of the BNP.

Mahal Na Ingkong as The BNP calls the Holy Spirit works through Ate Salve in a very unique way . The BNP members do not pray to Ate Salve or have we named her a saint . She is respected as the founder and current Chairperson of the BNP.

The ACC coined the name “Mahal Na Ingkong” as the Holy Spirit, although the word itself nor the translation is found in niether Sacred Scripture nor Sacred Tradition of the Roman Catholic Church
-The BNP also uses the name “Mahal Na Ingkong” to refer to the Holy Spirit.
The ACC was not the first to use the term Mahal Na Ingkong .It was first used by Ate Salve when the
Holy Spirit manifested on October 1968-

During Holy Week, Maria Virginia imitates Christ and performs strange rituals that mirror the events during the passion of Jesus Christ (such as the Last Supper, Carrying of the Cross, etc.) to which devotees take as miraculous
-Ate Salve also performs Holy Week rituals and is as well venerated by followers.

I cannot speak for the ACC since I have never attended any of their Holy Week Activities , I can vouch that their are no strange rituals performed by Ate Salve and the BNP during Holy Week.
I have attended the BNP Holy week activities for 15 years now and have not seen anything strange . There are practices unique to the Filipino culture like the " pabasa" . which is a sung narrative of the birth , life and Passion of our Lord , Jesus Christ.
the pabasa is done over the course of 24+ hours .
-ACC claim to be apostolic and catholic; they also claim to be superior to the Roman Catholic Church.
Per their website , the ACC is a totally separate church .

-BNP claim to be a catholic organization

The BNP is a lay ministry , we proclaim the Good News about the redemptive sacrifice of Our Lord Jesus Christ . That is our main purpose . The BNP does not have or claim to have any dogma that will impact anybody’s personal salvation. We are
catholic ( small c ) , because we welcome anyone to attend our classes , irregardless of their faith or lack thereof;
we are Catholic ( big C ) because that is what we believe in .
The movement is made up of practicing Catholics and Catholic families. We folllow and teach the cathechism of the Catholic church in our retreat classes.

Please do not compare / contrast us with other so-called movements , the BNP as far as I know is a unique and wonderful oraganization.

The BNP ( Banal Na Pag-aaral ) in the United States is made up mostly of Filipinos .
Most are first-generation Americans like me who are bi-lingual
or tri-lingual even ( I speak English , Tagalog and Cebuano ) .
I will not use any Filipino language here , out of respect
to our host.

The BNP also has chapters in Australia , Singapore , Europe ( London , Paris , Barcelona and Athens ) .
With the unmerited grace of GOD , we continue to grow as a movement .
May God Bless YOU and yourrs with a bounteous New Year.

So, this movement has been banned in some places. My understanding is that Medjugorge also is not been approved by the bishop of that place, yet that hasn’t prevented thousands upon thousands from going there. Does that mean that all these Catholics are bad Catholics?

There are no bad or good Catholics. There are only Catholics . brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus.
This thread was started to discuss the BNP and its practices in an open forum and eventually to have people decide if the movement’s members are Catholic.

The BNP movement has been subject to interdicts in some dioceses ( Los Angeles and San Bernardino ) , but this just prohibits any BNP members from participating in the Holy Sacraments. In some dioceses we are welcomed with open arms and openly participate in sacramental life at the parish level. As I have pointed put in the past , interdicts have been issued against the Jesuits , the Franciscans , St. Bernadette , Padre Pio and countless others. I point this out only to make people see that interdicts against a group or person is not the end of the world , nor do they make make you a bad or good Catholic.

There are manifestations of God’s presence and His abiding Love for His people. These phenomena are with us every day , they come in all shapes and sizes , from the magnificent sunrise I just beheld to the curing of a person with terminal cancer.
I have personally witnessed the phenomena that Mahal Na Ingkong has deigned to show His unworthy servant and I can tell you of others that can testify to His presence in the BNP.

YES! BNP is most definitely Catholic! I believe that any group who practices the ways and teachings of the Catholic religion has the right to claim that their group is a Catholic group. And from my experience as a member, we have been doing that!

Gabriel of 12:
Interesting postings: Does BNP have a valid ordained priesthood to confect and andminister Catholic Sacraments? If so, what is their names, and who is your Bishop from Apostolic succession to administer the Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament?

weixin;
At the end of the day, it still boils down to personal opinion…choice…preference.
But behind that choice is yet another thing…
“Are you being called to be in BNP?”

May God Bless us all!
Gabriel of 12:
Your comment above by your “personal opinion” preference that dictates your belief, already seperates you from the Holy Apostolic Catholic church. For one, The Catholic church has a King of Kings, and Lord of Lords. We dont have the personal opinion to believe whatever we want to believe. Catholics believe only What God has revealed to his Church, we are not a democracy, we belong to One King and Savior Jesus Christ, who has already dictated and instructed to his body on earth the Catholic church what is worthy of belief and placed an excercising authority on earth in the Magisterium of the body of Jesus Christ.

Like every miracle, vision, Saint and revelation has to be authenticated and scrutinized by the Holy Spirit in the authority of Jesus Christ in his body on earth to be accepted by Catholics as worthy of belief. What are Catholics doing attending these BNP services can be putting their souls at risk, without the testing of spirits and scrutiny of any new christian gospel being proclaimed must meet the scrutiny of the Magisterium of the Catholic church.

I dont judge BNP of this, I am simply indicating a warning for Catholics, that a process and scrutiny must take place first for Catholics to accept this new BNP revelation or new teaching as a revelation from God. From the posts this process testing the spirits and teaching scrutiny from the Magisterium is already being questioned by BNP’s, if it is of God, you have nothing to fear. If it is not of God, you will find division among your numbers in time, and the Catholic church will officially excommunicate this teaching of BNP.

I am only repeating what St. Paul teaches, here are two of many quotes from scripture that pertains to what I just mentioned.

Ephesians 4: 11 **And he gave some as apostles, others as prophets, others as evangelists, others as pastors and teachers,
12 to equip the holy ones for the work of ministry, 5 for building up the body of Christ, **13 until we all attain to the unity of faith and knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, 6 to the extent of the full stature of Christ,
14 **so that we may no longer be infants, tossed by waves and swept along by every wind of teaching arising from human trickery, from their cunning in the interests of deceitful scheming. **
15 Rather, living the truth in love, we should grow in every way into him who is the head, Christ, 7

Galatians 1: 6 **I am amazed that you are so quickly forsaking the one who called you by (the) grace (of Christ) for a different gospel
7 (not that there is another). But there are some who are disturbing you and wish to pervert the gospel of Christ.
8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach (to you) a gospel other than the one that we preached to you, let that one be accursed! 9 As we have said before, and now I say again, if anyone preaches to you a gospel other than the one that you received, let that one be accursed!
11
Now I want you to know, brothers, that the gospel preached by me is not of human origin.
12 For I did not receive it from a human being, nor was I taught it, but it came through a revelation of Jesus Christ. **

Be careful by every wind of doctrine that comes, and dont be easily taken up by it, for even Satan himself can decieve one as an angel of light.

Praying that the “Truth” of Jesus Christ be proclaimed both now and forever.

he RCC has dogma and doctrine . These are tenets that you and I have to believe in to guarantee our personal salvation, Most of these doctrines are enumerated in the Nicene Creed . To be ensured of our salvation we must believe in the Triune God, the Virgin Birth and everything else that the magesterium and the Holy Pope (s) have declared to be Catholic doctrine.
The choice whether to believe or not believe in Mahal Na Ingkong and the BNP is personal , , God bestows upon us the wisdom to discern truth and untruth . Because the BNP is not covered in Scripture and or Sacred Tradition does not mean that it is automatically adjudged as false, after all our Lord Jesus Christ himself said that HE would be with us until the end of time

This is true ,but the validity of the Sacraments are determined by the validity of the priest that offers the Mass, If he has the
authority from his Bishop then all the sacraments that he performs in the BNP are valid.

So far there are no writs of excommunication against the BNP . Neither latae sententiae or ferendae sententiae writs have been submitted or processed

Unlike some of those who condemn the BNP, I have actually been to the BNP classes and activities, I have tried my best to see if there is anything doctrinally wrong or substantially deficient in the BNP activities, so far I have found none . Until
there is something I see that is dogmatically incorrect and therefore something I cannot support , I willl continue my journey with the BNP and Mahal Na Ingkong

Praying that the “Truth” of Jesus Christ be proclaimed both now and forever.
