So you are the only one who can understand the meaning?
Why would you even think this? I have simply embraced the teaching of something much greater than all of us: the 1.1 Billion member Catholic Church, the Sacred Body of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on earth, with an unbroken 1,976 year history and Apostolic succession traceable directly back to the Twelve Apostles through the authority given them by Jesus Himself. Amen! Alleuia!
Thanks be to God, the entire world can rely on the Church, which is the pillar and foundation of the truth. Paul also wrote that, in
1 Tinothy 3:15. Have a look. It will change your life!
Now, Ed uses his own interpretation, while I use the Church’s interpretation. But, Ed does not seem to understand this or see any difference. He will also not answer even simple questions about why he is reading our own scripture back to us. I love hearing scripture. That’s one reason I go to mass. I read it at home and on-line, too.
and did you read 2 Tim 3:16 and how do you read that to mean?
You know, I didn’t pay much attention to that very clear scripture until I had to counter Protestants who, for some reason, believe that only a bible is needed. Even a cursory read of it reveals that scripture is indeed “profitable”. Anyone who is not in a coma (and some who are) knows that scripture is profitable. But, is it all that is needed? It neither says, nor does it even imply that scripture is complete, or is the only thing you need. How can a Christian know this? Well, that same “profitable” scripture tells us that it is incomplete, thus leading us to believe that something else is needed beside “scripture alone”. Just a quick read of
Luke 3:18,
John 20:30 and
John 21:25, as well as
Acts 2:40 and
1 Corinthians 11:34 reveals that the bible is incomplete. Since the bible tells us in many places that it is incomplete, I believe it. The bible would be complete only if Jesus Himself wrote it. But, He didn’t. He ordained Apostles and sent them forth into all the world. Praise the Holy Name of Jesus!
But, you know, this is far off the topic of this thread. Still, it’s good and comforting for any Christian to know.
