Another show starring Richard Dean Anderson with a great theme. Stargate SG-1. Though it should be noted the theme originated with the Stargate movie, and was rearranged with a faster pace for TV.

There have been plenty of instrumental themes in this thread already. Some of them posted by me. You’re fine.

I really enjoyed watching that Batman series with my son when he was younger. It was kind of dark, and very interesting.

I did not know that.

I remember when it came out, my aunt was interested in it because it was a show about “widows just like me”.

Although she was possibly closest in age to Blanche, she didn’t have a similar life at all. I don’t think she ever dated again.

But her furniture did have a similar color scheme, Lots of mauve and mint.

And she did like cheesecake. Her cheesecake was really good.

I miss her.

My mother liked that show too. Same age as the women in the show. I have watched it sometimes just to remember sitting with her and laughing. 🙂

My mother said about one million times that Rose was just like her ditzy “best friend,” which is true. Sometimes I watch clips of it just to be nostalgic thinking of the two of them. “Best Friend” is now the dementia patient I post about in prayer intentions, and of course Mom has been gone for years.

What my mother didn’t say but I thought quietly to myself was that she herself was very much like Dorothy. I didn’t tell her that because she disliked Bea Arthur due to “Maude” having a pro-aborion episode that got condemned from the pulpit by our old skool pastor.

My own personality is somewhere between Dorothy and Sophia. But probably mostly Sophia. We didn’t know anyone like Blanche, thank heaven.

When I was a small child, I found the opening notes to the Perry Mason theme, Park Avenue Beat, so foreboding and disturbing that I always quickly changed the channel whenever those reruns came on.

Speaking of foreboding, disturbing, and downright spooky, I felt the same way about ‘Dark Shadows’, which ran in the mid to late 1960s, if I recall correctly. I apologize if it was already mentioned by someone.

Here is its’ theme song:

Especially spooky was the character, Barnabas Collins.

On a side note, when I was about 7 or 8, my mother quit allowing me to watch it after I pretended I was Barnabas Collins and bit my 5 year old sister on the neck. It didn’t draw blood but left a mark for a few days, which got my mother’s attention that I was watching something I probably shouldn’t be watching.

Huh. I thought I was the only person who was terrified of that theme music!
It wasn’t the music so much as Robert Stack’s voice that scared the bejabbers out of me as a kid…
The theme music for “The Untouchables” TV series was another one that scared me. It wasn’t until I saw the movie “Airplane” that I was able to overcome my terror of Robert Stack’s voice.

I’ve pretty much exhausted all my favorite TV series theme songs at this point and have enjoyed reading and listening to everyone’s contributions. It was like a fun trip back in time.

Thanks for taking that trip with me 👍

Feel free to keep adding to the list if you wish, but I think that’s about it for me.

Just because I’m a news geek…

“Good night, Chet.”

“Good night, David. And good night, for NBC News.”

Did you know there are new Unsolved Mysteries on Netflix? Same opening theme, no Robert ?Stack.

Still creepy.

As a kid, I was into playing cowboys. So… of course, my very favorite music was from the TV Western, “The Virginian”.

Unsolved Mysteries had a great opening. As did its precursor, “In Search Of…” hosted by Leonard Nimoy. The theme used to send a little shiver down my spine when I was a kid and it came on the TV.
