That theme song was an excellent one that I had overlooked. Thanks to @DeniseNY for mentioning it. It is very catchy, although when I listen to the whole song, it’s kind of sad because it is describing a breakup of someone who the guy really cared for.
Outstanding!!! A great show.

The theme song was supposedly about the Andy Travis character (played by Gary Sandy).

The ā€œTurkeys Awayā€ episode was one of the greatest moments in American television:

I thought of another song, I had actually looked this song up a few times on youtube because it seemed pretty unique, so, if you think that Figallily is a silly name.

It was composed by the Addrissi Brothers who apparently wrote the Association’s big hit, ā€œNever my loveā€ā€¦ I have seen that one album of their’s.

I grew up watching Sheriff John. It was a kinder, gentler time…

Thinking of an earlier post in this thread, John Sebastian did another TV theme song in addition to Welcome Back Kotter, a local children’s show called That’s Cat, which only aired a few years in the late 1970s. I can’t find his original version of the song, and I read that the tapes of the show were destroyed in a fire, along with a little piece of my childhood.

That reminds me of another kid’s show I grew up watching – Captain Kangaroo. One of its introductions was the following:

Our son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter (18 months old) visited us over the weekend, and she would’ve liked it when Capt Kangaroo opens the different sections of the door one at a time and would’ve thought he was playing peek-a-boo.

I watched that one too! Now I’m just like old Mr. Green Jeans. 😁 šŸ‘“

Captain Kangroo’s theme is a good one… there was a radio host; and sometimes, when he thought something was kind of crazy, he’d play that theme. It’s hard to describe but he would play that theme.

One of the songs that stuck in my mind all these years from Capt Kangaroo program was one I couldn’t locate on Youtube, but I’m guessing that they got it from Frankie Avalon. It is ā€˜The Puppet Song’

I’ve always had an active imagination, and I could just visualize the puppets coming alive in this song, which was also kind of pretty, in my opinion.

Roy Rogers Show, (Happy Trails)
Andy Griffith Show
My best ever movie theme song from ā€œThe Searchersā€ by The Sons of the Pioneers.

The Golden Girls song ā€œThank You For Being a Friendā€ was actually a well-known Top 40 hit by Andrew Gold 6 or 7 years before the show premiered. It wasn’t written for the show. They just had some female singer cover it and reused it.
