Well, her father was Danny Thomas and he was a Roman Catholic. He was the founder of St. Jude’s Hospital.

The 9 year old in me votes the opening to “The Six Million Dollar Man” is the best theme song:

Ah, yes. I had forgotten that classic. I used to watch it with my dad. One of Fred’s idle threats would be to his son Lamont, something like “How about five across your lips” as he made a fist. Never ever really hit him, though.

Yes, I loved that song too. I included it in my first post upthread but it’s definitely worth mentioning again. Some people considered it a “statement show” for women’s liberation. I was too young to notice any political aspect of it and just liked it for the storyline and because I always thought MTM was beautiful and I liked her character and that of Rhoda.

Ted Baxter and his girlfriend (I forgot her name, but she baby-talked) were other characters I enjoyed in that show.

Sanford and Son theme was by Quincy Jones who also wrote the Ironside theme and tons of movie soundtracks.

Truly one of the greatest American composers, arrangers and producers. All his stuff is fantastic.
I think he holds the record for most Grammy Award nominations, has something like 80.

I would be hard pressed to find one better than the Gilligan’s Island theme. The tune is catchy, and the lyrics tell the back-story, and in the later version introduce the characters.

Also, the lyrics to “Amazing Grace” can be sung to that tune, altho I wouldn’t do that in church.

I think her name was Georgette in the show, Georgia Engel.

Georgia Engel - Wikipedia.
Engel was an adherent of Christian Science.[45][46] She died on April 12, 2019, at the age of 70 in Princeton, New Jersey. Her friend John Quilty told The New York Times that the cause was unknown, as Engel, who was a Christian Scientist, did not consult doctors due to her religious beliefs.[3]
That above is kind of gossipy but I can’t help but add it in.

Thanks for clarifying that info on the character of Georgette in Mary Tyler Moore Show.

Any other seasoned citizens out there (like me) remember this one?

The Flying Nun from 1967-1970

I was a young boy when this series came on and was still in the stage of life where I was sorting out reality from fiction and actually thought that the nun, played by Sally Field, had some impressive and exclusive talents and abilities.

This one was before my time and there are several different versions of the opening theme, but this is the one I remember the best from watching reruns of the show. I like Bob Denver in this much better than in “Gilligan”.

I remember that show being on when I was a kid, maybe in reruns, I don’t remember. I only remember that I must have been too young to understand what the show was about.
