I can remember well the theme music, although I was not old enough to stay up and watch.

When that show was being aired, most of the school girls I knew liked Davey Jones. Most of the boys thought Peter Tork or Mickey Dolenz were the coolest.

I heard that the Monkees were an American attempt to copy the Beatles’. Not sure if it is true, but that’s what I heard in some of the media.

One of my favorite lines from that show was when Horshack said he asked a girl out and she told him, “Arnold, if you were the last man on earth, I’d start dating trees.”
Kind of reminds me of the exchange in ‘Dumb and Dumber’ where Lloyd asks Mary if he had a chance of dating her and she replies something to the effect of “like one in a million”, to which he replies, “So I do have a chance then!”.

Surprised I haven’t seen Hawaii Five-O mentioned. Here’s a comparison of the intros of the original series and the newer series.

Ah, the 80’s. Where the theme songs were better than the shows they were attached to:

The new version was pretty much junk, but I remember when my husband and I went to Hawaii I was all excited to find that our hotel suite looked directly onto that building where Jack Lord was filmed on the roof. The building had seen better days, unfortunately.

It’s a classic one, and one that probably helped bring attention (and tourists) to Hawaii back in the day.

When my wife suggested we go to Hawaii on vacation a few years ago, I jokingly told her that it probably wasn’t a safe place to visit if all the crime I see weekly on ‘Hawaii Five-O’ is any indication.

Big butter bowl of Lucky Charms cereal and this show every Saturday morning. And my mom would wonder why I was such a spaz the rest of the day 😏

I was too young to appreciate the Monkees when they were on prime time and then on Saturday mornings, though I did like their theme song and I find their schtick interesting/ funny now. Agree that Nesmith was definitely the smartest and most interesting one.

I did like this short-lived bad imitation of the Monkees though. It came along some years later when I was just about hitting puberty.

If somebody already suggested it, then I apologize for reposting, but I think The Dukes of Hazard has a great opening theme song.

And of course you can’t forget The Greatest American Hero

I will go with…

Theme to Mannix:

And undeniably, the theme to the “Rockford Files”, released as a single:

And an acknowledged classic, beyond the TV show, “Peter Gunn”:

“Perry Mason”, “Courtship of Eddie’s Father”, “Rawhide”, of course, there are plenty more.

Oh, can’t forget these:

From the UK, here is a very sweet song, very Baroque, I think they speak in limericks…the TV show was called Follyfoot I believe, the Settlers doing “The Lightning Tree”…

LA Law above to, good choice.

I remember this show had the John Birch Society neighbor who saw Commies under every bush.
Sort of the 1970s version of Dale Gribble from King of the Hill.

Thank you for sharing that, Victoria33. I was hoping that a few people would share some theme songs from countries outside the U.S. as well. That is a pretty song.

For whatever reason, I don’t remember ‘Wait Till You Father Gets Home’ and have no valid excuse for not remembering.
