Does anyone know any New Testament verses that bible protestants don’t follow?
I’ve not seen many protestant ministers (both male) greeting each other with a holy kiss… cultural thing, I think. Some of us do foot washing, some don’t.Does anyone know any New Testament verses that bible protestants don’t follow?
No, he’s referring more toward things like James 2:14, Luke 22:19, Luke 1:48, Rev 5:8, or pretty much the entire Bread of Life discourse which disagree with generic Protestant beliefs or practices. We only follow the Bible, but I’m sure that’s not what you mean.
This parable reminds me that there are some of us Catholics who are receiving unworthily, while there are Protestants who are behaving more like Catholics than us.
Thanks, I like those. Especially the Luke 1 and Revelation 5 ones that I hadn’t considered before. No, he’s referring more toward things like James 2:14, Luke 22:19, Luke 1:48, Rev 5:8, or pretty much the entire Bread of Life discourse which disagree with generic Protestant beliefs or practices.
James- Faith without works is dead.
Luke 22- The Eucharist.
Luke 1- Honoring Mary.
Revelation- Prayers of the saints and prayer to/through saints.
John 6- Transubstantiation.
The Magnificat I knew because I pray that almost every evening. Revelation I knew because I’m used to using it as Biblical evidence that at the very least the saints pray for us. (I debate with friends a lot)Thanks, I like those. Especially the Luke 1 and Revelation 5 ones that I hadn’t considered before.
The problem with this whole thread; there is no “protestant church.” We are separate churches and also individuals. As for “Bible Protestants” that calls to mind fundamentalists. Some fundamentalists are “tougher” on those who approve of abortion, SSM, women in the church, and those that have been divorced (or “annulled”) than the RCC is.My biggest concern is with the 10 commandments: Thou shall not kill. Some protestant churches do tacitly allow it. ABORTION.
a) Intentionally
b) Helpless and innocent victim
c) Mortal sin
The other verses probably are of less severity and with some interpretation techniques, can be construed to mean other things.
2nd is Divorce. Really leads to broken families and negative consequences on children’s view towards sex and marriage and perhaps towards abortion as well.
Yea, this is a serious problem that ABSOLUTELY falls under the “Catholics don’t follow the Bible either” deal. How about Matthew, Chapter 19 (Jesus’s teachings on divorce)? Of course, many Catholics don’t follow this, either.
To be honest with you I don’t think, well I know your not in a church that goes by the only bible, because if you did you would know that the wine and bread are good, that in John 17, we need to be united as 1, not 45,000. Also with Matthew 16:16-20, and the lists continues. We only follow the Bible, but I’m sure that’s not what you mean.
The most common ones that are thrown at me are “feed my sheep” or “upon this rock” we just have some different interpretations as all.
Another common one I get is:
2 thess 2:15 So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by our spoken word or by our letter.
Good luck!
“For you love all things that exist,Aw man, I was expecting to find in this thread a bible passage that I’ve never read before.
Hahaha. Very clever; thanks for a laugh.“For you love all things that exist,
and loathe none of the things which you have made,
for you would not have made anything if you had hated it.”
-Wisdom 11:24, RSV-2CE
(Oh come on. That post was just asking for a quote from deuterocanon)
Practical: The clear prophecy of Christ in Wisdom 2. Doctrinal: Prayers for the dead, that they may be loosed from their sins 2 Maccabees 12.Aw man, I was expecting to find in this thread a bible passage that I’ve never read before.
I am a Catholic, and there are many bible verses I fail to follow as well, and thus equally a sinner.Does anyone know any New Testament verses that bible protestants don’t follow?
