Theologians and students are allowed a great deal of latitude. It is one way the Church grows and develops doctring. Both the liberal and the conservative theologian contribute to this process. However, this thesis was written in 2003, after Pope John Paul II declared that the discussion on female ordination was over and was to cease.
I see the chronology of events to which I had not paid closer. However, the content of her thesis could easily have been forgotten had she left it at the university. Once you write on a subject and the Church says that the subject is no longer for discussion, *** a credible minister you put it aside. At some point you have to decided whether you’re a miniter or an academician. An academisian pill pursue his hypothesis, but will do so within the domain of the classroom, where it belongs. A minister is not out to explore the undersideofa hypothesis, but to care for souls.

As I undersstand the article, she not only wrote the thesis, but also engaged in several other behaviours that are unorthodox. Regardless of whether the bishop is the best leader or not, he would not have have scored points by abdicating his responsibiity to correct a prolem.

Fraternally,

JR 🙂
