The Rosary CD is done and available for $7. I received one for Christmas, and have it in my car. I decided that since I have trouble devoting time at home to the Rosary, I would instead say it in the car as I’m driving.
Know of anyplace we can get one?

Mr.S- i saw something about them on www.saginaw.org

Grotto- I too pray for the day. How horrible! Its very sad when those in charge cannot submit to those above them. If the woman wants to be a religious leader, get the heck out of Holy Mother Church. The Protestants would gladly welcome her lukewarmness.

MsProule- I’m sorry!!! i thought you were from Saginaw. STill, do you see any changes and fruits in Michigan from His Excellency, Bishop Carlson being in Saginaw?
No apology is necessary…I am not offended that you thought I was in the Saginaw Diocese! I visit there often. It is a beautiful place 🙂 .

I must say that I am very excited for my state! I suspect that Bishop Carlson will have (and is already having) a profound effect, even beyond the boundaries of his Diocese. It may just be my opinion, but there is a special interconnectedness within this Province. I do not know how long the Holy Father will choose to leave His Excellency in Michigan, but we are very blessed to have him.

Michael

MsProule-

Glad to hear it. I know His Excellency gained a special spot in his heart for my Diocese, as I have myself, so I know he plans on retiring here, but thats a good 15 years away. I hope you guys can have him for 15 years and then we can get him back in retirement!

By you guys I mean Michigan as a whole! Saginaw especially.

OK,

About 700-ish posts ago I made a list of the problems in this Diocese.

Now, thanks be to God the Father the Almighty and to His Son our Lord Jesus Christ !!!

The most excellent Bishop Carlson is bringing us into communion with Rome.

In my parish we just got gold liturgical vessels! The glass is gone!!!

This is so wonderful !!!

Run you heretics!

His influence hasn’t reached everywhere yet. Members of St. Mary cathedral still believe that Jesus isn’t really present in the Eucharist—they believe that “we’re all Eucharist” and one told me that we “don’t believe in the heirarchy anymore anyway.”

Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither will the message of the Holy Spirit being communicated thru your good Bishop. Pray for him and support him in his actions and inactions. Saginaw is blessed to have such a fine Bishop.

Maybe he should move his cathedral to a better parish then?

That seems a little irrational. A cathedral church good enough for the past 4 bishops is probably good enough for its 5th.

I worry that too often we hear the comments of one or two members of a parish and taken out of context they make things sound much worse than they are.

The points of view of many many people are misrepresented this way.

Frommi,

The point I was making is- if the Cathedral parish is not following Catholic doctorine, maybe the bishop should use a parish that is following doctorine, for a proper cathedral. Many diocese have had the cathedral/episcopal see moved through time. Look at the archdiocese of Minneapolis/St. Paul. They have 2 cathedrals.

A bishop should be able to be proud of the parish that is called his Cathedral, as they should be a model for the entire diocese, as its head parish.

Code:
Isn't there a process involved in moving the cathedral, or especially the see city, requiring approval from Rome? In any event, the "Cathedral" apparently wasn't used like one in Saginaw, with Bishop Untener's practice of constantly moving around the diocese. And if heresy is that rampant in a parish, whether or not it is the cathedral, the better solution, in my humble opinion, is to bring them back to the Church's teachings.

I don’t know how easy that would be. The cathedral parish members I’ve encountered seem to be of the opinion that Bishop Carlson is some radical turn-back-the-clock to before Vatican Council II/ out-of-touch-with-reality oddball. And granted, that may not be the opinion of the majority of the members of that parish–however, it seems any attempts by the Bishop to teach orthodoxy might be an uphill battle.

I feel badly that the fight is so bad for him - from some of the people here - not all. I also feel badly because we are seeing no change out here in the sticks. We have to travel over 30 miles…oh well, you’ve heard it all before. Thanks be to God we can travel somewhere.

My husband attended the local Mass last w/e due to being on call and unable to travel too far from the hospital, so he had to endure “sister’s” homily re: “Perhaps sometime in the future, girls too will be able to be priests.” She’s lucky I wasn’t there with our kids…do they have internet access in jail?

I emailed the poor bishop and told him. Now I feel badly that I did. Maybe he knows already??? I don’t know. It sure gets discouraging. St. Athansius is only 4 blocks away and we haven’t been there in over 6 years!
Oh well, pray pray pray.

Are you suggesting that someone advocating for women’s ordination would lead you to violence? Isn’t that a bit much.

I’ve been reading The Catholic Weekly a lot lately and it seems that Bishop Carlson has been installing a lot of nuns as “pastoral administrators” at various parishes. I wonder if he realizes how much some of these sisters take advantage of that role and turn it into something it was never intended to be.

Check the date on your C Weekly - I wouldn’t believe for a minute that more women would be appointed.

Okay, so its been a minute! Maybe the job of pastoral administrator will be held to what the role meant with a priest overseeing and in charge! Not some dodge-ball game with “retired” priests who are propped up at Mass and don’t speak unless directed - or anything else for that matter.

I feel ill with the possibility that our should-be Catholic Church would continue to operate under the same heretical condition. Woebegone!

I wish we could have someone like him as the next Bishop in Lansing. There is already a wonderful vocations director in place, Fr Vincki, and with some stronger leadership… wow.

Pray that Bishop Carlson not tire of his work, and we know that he will often tire in his work.
