I was thinking the same thing. They can no longer twist the words of the Bishops now. The battle lines are being drawed.
Did the bishops last weekend at Catholic Masses say Catholics could not vote for Obama and had to instead vote for Romney or whoever the Republican nominee is?

And isn’t that a sad choice to have to make? See Catholic Charities in Boston, Springfield IL.

Is the greater good here forcing people to violate their conscience…for what? A play to the political base?

On the record, Matt, do you support or oppose this act by the administration?
Does this imply that you support this administration’s act in the narrow “conscience clause” ruling?
No I actually am not saying it needs to shut down. It unfortunately can. But no law is perfect and the institution would need to decide if they want to shut down over one part of it or look at more of the total picture. I actually would find it sad if a Catholic institution were to shut down over this…

And this is a issue how? Doing the right thing is more important than financial support… Can’t take them riches to hevean.
So why doesn’t the Church just come out and say point blank that Catholics must not under any circumstances vote for Obama and accept it if they lose their tax exempt status? Are you saying they withhold truth to avoid paying tax?

Archbishop Dolan got rolled by Obama. I hope every Catholic wakes up to what this evil doer in the White House is doing. He hates Christianity and I have never witnessed such a power hungry president in my life.

So you believe that the “right” of the woman should legally undermine and diminish the natural and God-given right to be born. What a travesty of justice!
Not necessarily. Though I don’t see the word “abortion” in the Bible, I actually don’t see the issue as black and white and neatly fitting into a box either. I actually find it one of the most difficult issues a society of plural beliefs must wrestle and come to terms with.

I don’t know how you or any other person on the face of this planet can value one human life over and above another is beyond me.

Highly unlikely he hates Christianity considering he was baptized in the United Church of Christ, a Christian denominaton, and was married in that Christian community and he and his wife have baptized their 2 daughters.

I wonder the same thing sometimes about people who mostly emphasize the abortion issue.

Al-taqiyya:

Muslims are permitted to lie: (1) to save their lives, (2) to reconcile a husband and wife, (3) to persuade a woman into a bedroom and (4) to facilitate one on his journey. Muslims are even permitted to disavow Islam and Mohammed if it is not a genuine heart-felt rejection. Muslims will tell you that concealment of a truth is not an abandonment of that truth if it benefits Islam.

All human life is of equal worth and value. Those that procure abortions have passed the ultimate judgment on those who don’t have a voice.

The only reason why you are pro-choice is because you weren’t chosen to be aborted.

CMatt,

Do everyone a favor and stop derailing this thread. We know where you stand, we disagree. If you wish to start a thread challenging the teaching of the Church on these matters, I would likely chime in and I am sure many others would as well.

Indeed, I’m sure he only hates Christians who take their faith seriously. I’m sure he’s just fine with nominal Christians, nominal Jews, and even nominal Muslims who place faith in the State at the top of their priorities.

Stop taking Catholicism so seriously and you too can learn to love Obamacare and vote for Obama with a clear conscience.

No. Actually I’ve struggled with the balancing of rights on the issue even though I wasn’t aborted. A candidate being pro choice isn’t even the determining factor on for whom I vote.
