He would be better than Obama! Of course many people would be better than him!
I will admit that I would vote for Ron Paul over Mitt and Newt. I like the fact that he is anti-war, and wants all the troops back home. That’s a plus. Newt would have us in another war 10 seconds after he was crowned King. And Mitt is just a complete flip-flopper who would change according to the way the wind was blowing. For the next generation, that is scary.
I won’t comment on Santorum.

Why not over Obama? Obama has been a weak president, especially on economic issues as well as on pro life issues.

I’m commenting on the OP. I haven’t gone through all the other posts. :o

I’m not one to get wrapped up in conspiracy theories or wring my hands that the sky is falling at every little slight against Christians. But I really believe that we cannont overestimate the significance of this flawed, liberty-crushing legislation.

I am hopeful, though, at the window of time that has been extended for us Catholics to “fall in line”. I pray that our Catholic leaders (and all Catholic voters) take the opportunity to organize and fight this. We have our deadline. Let’s get to work!

Obama is betting that most catholics don’t give a rip about actual catholic teaching on contraception or is betting that catholics will mostly take his side on the matter.

It’s actually a pretty bold move for Obama: he’s bet his political career that catholics not only don’t practice catholic teaching on the matter, but have the same contempt he does for catholic teaching on the matter. Those aren’t the same thing and I hope he has erred and failed to recognize the difference. In the same way that many who have had people have had sexual contact before marriage respect those who haven’t and respect the moral teaching that the correct order is for sex within marriage, I hope that even catholics who haven’t chosen to live by catholic teaching will become outraged at this political tyranny against those who have.

I’m honestly not sure if his calculus is right or not. I sure hope he’s wrong. I hope catholics recognize what he is doing and what it means for the future and WAKE UP at last.

Under his federal watch, the catholic church has already been thrown out of the adoption agency ministry. Now he is setting the stage to throw us out of health care and education by placing our institutions in the catch 22 position of disobeying the law and thus being fined out of existence or compromising our beliefs and making ourselves irrelevant in the process.

The new federal contraception mandate is “like a slap in the face” that says “To Hell with you!” to Catholics and religious freedom, Bishop David A. Zubik of Pittsburgh said.

Sounds like socialism to me. Government control over everything that is morally good, no government regulation over anything that is morally bad, and targeting the Church and Christianity in general first. 😦

It is great too see the Bishops speaking out against this mandate!

Please sign the petition linked in my signature telling congress to support conscience protections.

I’m not so sure about Newt getting us into a war immediately. Maybe 20 years ago that would definitely have been the case, but now, I’m not so sure. If he has truly had a conversion of which he says he has had, and he seems to be defending the faith publically in the debates, I’m thinking he wouldn’t be as gung ho on jumping into war. Being a new convert, I don’ t think he would want to tangle with Papa Benedict anytime soon.😛 But I guess you never know about any of them until they’re actually sitting behind the desk. We had a real surprise with this one.

But I agree with you on Mitt…don’t trust him any farther than I can throw him.
Ron Paul, well…I don’t think he has a realistic view of foreign policy. You cannot just ignore everyone, and allow everyone to do their own thing and leave us alone. This is 2012. We are way too entwined with the world at large at this point. Yes, he is anti war, but he is anti involvement too. Not possible in this day and age.

Anthony Picarello says on ‘World Over live’ on EWTN that the Bishops are willing to litigate over this mandate. (Discussion starts at 29.20).
Yes. We must take the legal battle to them. Failure to do so will reult in loss of Freedoms not just for us but for all. Ultimately it will inexorably result in persecutions once again if we fail to resist valiantly.

Bold Lettering Mine

Yes … the conversion experience of Newt… That is interesting. It appears to be genuine to me… Could we be seeing a new dynamic of the likes of Reagan and JPII if Newt were elected? 👍:)😃 I certainly do admire Newt’s unabashed stance on the Pro Life issues.

But I thought Obama was going to reduce abortions and help the poor?

Where are the people who defended this mistake of a President now? Strangely silent so far in these healthcare topics from the usual Obama defenders.

I’ve already seen a few, rationalizing just as hard as ever.

“you one-issue voters!” etc…
