I think most people can appreciate art for being art. Most people don’t avert their eyes because most people are mature enough to realize it’s not pornography and that the human form is not sinful to look at in EVERY circumstance.

this. I think many book writers like JRR Tolkien and such used magic, demons, and such in their books.

How did D&D get dragged into this conversation? People who have never played D&D tend to have the most opinions about it, and the ignorance shines blindingly.

In and of itself, D&D is not “occult” and not against Church teaching. Much like life itself, the game is what you make it. Don’t do anything in the game that you wouldn’t do as a real-life Catholic.

Why not change the track/radio station? Its just prudent.
We aren’t called to ONLY listen to uplifting, holy music. It’s nice if we do, but it’s not a sin to listen to other music that doesn’t necessarily glorify God.

Played DnD. Enjoyed it. Don’t feel uncomfortable wearing my Miraculous Medal so it must not have done any harm to me.

Because it’s a game.

That was actually the most disturbing thread I’ve ever seen on CAF. A kid who thought he sinned because he “did” something bad in a video game.

It was just a complete inability to distinguish reality from Xbox. Honestly found it creepy.

Oh wow. I thought this thread was disturbing when OP said he’d avert his eyes at the sistene chapel lol

The Grand Theft Auto thread right? Poor kid. I hope he got some help for his scruples.

I’d say I’m a little bit similar in that I avert my eyes from nude art,I might look at the general form, the face but usually I just move on .This is how I was brought up.
I think it’s a good idea to check what games are worth avoiding ,especially if you have children who are going to participate .God bless.

You just put words in my mouth… I can enjoy the Sistine chapel in general and not look at Adam’s private part. Do you not see the difference? Is that disturbing?

I think that’s a negative view of sexuality and the human form. Not all depictions of the human form are pornographic. There’s no need to avert your eyes

I am a woman and Adam’s private parts in depictions. I have seen of the Sistine Chapel are just paint.

There is a big difference between striving to live chastely and a negative view of sexuality. Averting your eyes from nudity as a good thing. I’m a married man and from my single years on, since I’ve come back into the Church, I’ve done this. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to live chastely.

Does that apply to me too?🙂
Here you have diversity of backgrounds of upbringing and standards…you can’t really criticise that .God bless.
