Except that beliefs that diverge from what the Church teaches on what is moral and what is not, are simply wrong.

I’m sorry if me having different beliefs bothers others. We are all entitled to believe what we want though. I’m not trying to be negative here at all.

Of course, the whole point of moral theology is to hand down the teachings of Christ. He said, “he who hears you, hears me.” I don’t think he had a teaching that made his teachings optional.

I was comparing the often polite, polished and frail responses of modern Western Roman Catholic clerics with the often frank and firm tone of Orthodox leaders.

The frankly disappointing response of the NCCS really just drives it home for me.

He never forced them on people in a rude way though. I don’t like when people make it out to be my way or the highway. That seems a bit harsh to me.

Matthew 5:21-22; Jesus said people would go to hell. That seems a bit harsh to tell someone.

Pedophilia concerns attraction to pre-pubescent children (say, 10 and under). The concern would be ephebophilia.

The NCCS is not really an independent body. They exist to support the BSA.

It’s worth remembering that the only tool Jesus is recorded as making was a whip.

However it may seem to us that somebody, or everybody, might need a good dose of the whip, it is not our mission or calling to apply it. We are not so authorized.

That was the message of Christ thought, “He said I am the Way, I am the Truth, I am the Life”

He specifically stated that it was His way and no other

And as far as being rude, He told His disciples to preach the Word like this
Whoever will not receive you or listen to your words—go outside that house or town and shake the dust from your feet.

They certainly pay individual membership fees. As Brendan notes, “National Catholic Committee on Scouting” is a registered trademark of the BSA. And if you read their “About Us” page on their web site you will see that their mission is to promote the BSA program among Catholics and to advise the BSA.

So, at most they will express disappointment in a BSA decision, but add that “Scouting” – by which they mean BSA mainstream scouting – “is still the best youth character development program yadda yadda yadda”.

Did I say that? NO! But I still say that any parent who allows his or her kid to camp overnight with a homosexual scoutmaster is a fool. :cool:

It’s all very well for people to be tolerant of a homosexual scout leader, but how many are really willing to risk their own young sons in that circumstance? How can one be sure that a person who is sexually perverted in one way is not perverted in other ways?

As to heterosexual males leading girl scout troops or instructing them or whatever, I think it’s different, though I think any man who does it is foolish unless there is also a female leader there at all times without exception. Too easy to be the victim of some accusation.
