One of the ways we know that Russia doesn’t need to be “redone” is the miracles and turning back to God that is going on there. From a communist leader to a country that ordered an icon of Mary to be flown over the country for the Olympics. In my opinion perhaps Burke misspoke. And he may have meant to say America…

Why not read what Cardinal Burke actually said before jumping to conclusions ?
Code:
“Certainly, Pope Saint John Paul II consecrated the world, including Russia, to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on March 25, 1984,” said Cardinal Burke. “But, today, once again, we hear the call of Our Lady of Fatima to consecrate Russia to her Immaculate Heart, in accord with her explicit instruction.”
Pope Francis was just in Fatima, and I followed his trip intently via EWTN and other sources, and not once did he make any mention of this. Suddenly, after what all seemed to agree was a very sacred and solemn visit to Fatima by our Holy Father, Cardinal Burke makes this public statement about “hearing a new call” to once again consecrate Russia to Our Lady.

Are we to assume that Pope Francis is deaf to this “new call”? Yet, he was just at the very place that Our Lady appeared to the children; the very spot where the messages were conveyed. Does it appear that Cardinal Burke is more “in tune” than our current pontif? I think not.

Only good can come from this, and Cardinal Burke doesn’t need anyone here’s approval.

Only good can come from this?

Except for all the confusion and divisiveness even seen on this thread right?

And who’s being confused and divisive here ? People who think they have a better understanding of Cardinal Burke’s intentions, then the Cardinal himself ?

No. That is not what’s happening.

Regaurdless of if he is expressing something good or not, his words seem To me like a poor choice. As is the public calling out of the pope on a touchy subject. Like I said. I’m a fan. The dubia, are necessary. This, this is just head scratching.

The Blessed Mother’s specific request was that the Pope in union with all the Bishops of the World would consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary at the same time. This is what Cardinal Burke want’s to see done. No controversy or conspiracies involved.
People, who claim that it is good enough for a Pope to consecrate the world to the Immaculate heart of Mary instead of Russia as our Lady clearly commanded, lack faith, and they are not showing proper reverence to our Lady and Holy Mother Church.😦

For those who may still object to calling for the consecration of Russia, Cardinal Burke recalled the words of Pope St. John Paul II who in 1982 during his consecration of the world to the Immaculate Heart noted: “Mary’s appeal is not for just once. Her appeal must be taken up by generation after generation, in accordance with the ever new ‘signs of the times’. It must be unceasingly returned to. It must ever be taken up anew.”
It's been over 33 years, and a surprising number of people on this forum still believe Russia is pretty Godless (I'm not one of them).

But that isn’t what the cardinal said, and you know it.

Look who knows what he meant, but he should have been more careful knowing that the issue is a powder keg to some on the fringe.

Cardinal Burke is in no way denying that Russia was consecrated in 1984. He just want’s to see a consecration of Russia carried out exactly as the Blessed Mother requested. Can anyone imagine what such a consecration would be like ? It would be like nothing before seen in the history of the World. Thousands of Bishops simultaneously consecrating Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. It would be an amazing Catholic witness to the entire World, and yet we have people who think it would be a bad thing and that it would secretly be an attempt to undermine Pope Francis.
So which is it. The consecration needs to be carried out by each generation “again and again”.
OR
It needs to be done “exactly like the Virgin asked this time”

Do it again, or do it right? Which one is it?

I can’t speak for Cardinal Burke, and I expect we’ll be hearing more from him in the days ahead, but personally I see no reason why the answer to your question couldn’t be, Do it again and Do it with much greater participation.

The Pontiff did not consecrate the Immaculate heart of Mary to Russia.

Fatima is a private revelation. Even the original message itself is not on the same level of authority as Pope Francis’ teachings, or your bishop on Faith and Morals, if your bishop is in union with the Holy See.

The pope, and your bishop, and perhaps the current bishop of Fatima, are the reliable guides in discerning the proper response in 2017.

There are some people who have done great work for the Church opposing the disobedience against the Magisterium common since the 1960s. They are, quite rightly, upset or impatient with some elements of the status quo. They themselves are obedient, no intent of encouraging disobedience.

But their recent statements or moves are used by other people to justify disobedience against all proper Church authority. Thus, the good work they did earlier may be outweighed by unintentional, long term consequences of their later actions.

The Pontiff refusing to consecrate The Immaculate Heart of Mary to Russia is disobedience to Holy Mother Church and the Magisterium.

If you support John Paul II refusing to consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary instead of Mary, you are not listening to Holy Mother Church.

In Holy Mother Church, Our Lady, Queen of Heaven, has authority over the Popes. When Mary makes a demand to the Popes, the Popes must obey our Lady or the whole Church will face the consequences.

You are right, John Paul II refused to consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Please stay on topic. This thread is not about whether or not there was a consecration of Russia, it’s about a current proposal by Cardinal Burke.

John Paul II refused to consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Do you have any proof to the contrary?

I have the infallible magisterium of the Catholic Church on my side; John Paul II refused to consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and you do have any proof to the contrary? If you do not get on the right side of this issue, you are helping to bring about the Great Chastisement our Lady warned about.
