A local news source is claiming that the law was not passed. 😦 I really hope that is not the case!

This story claims it was not passed. How exactly can protesters outside a building cause enough chaos to prevent a bill from being signed…facepalm. Hopefully they’ll be called back for another session.

I have been following this from the beginning. Technically, the bill would have passed, since they started the vote before midnight, but the opponents would not agree on that point. Usually this is just a matter of procedure, but not this time.

Gov. Perry WILL call another special session, and the bill WILL be passed. The leadership in the GOP majority needs to step up and get it done. Of course it will be challenged legally but in the meantime, it will show the nation that we are unafraid to challenge the Democrat shibboleth of abortion.

Pray for our legislators and for Gov. Perry!

The gallery inside the capitol was filled with abortion supporters and they SCREAMED and made so much noise the Senate could not hear themselves on procedures. Several were arrested but I hope they close the gallery when they vote again. I believe they must because this subverts the process of our government.

Saw this sad news and hope it can be rectified. What was even MORE dismaying was the extent to which politicians, protestors and even POTUS would go to make sure women can kill their unborn babies. It is truly impossible to understand this obsession with murder of innocent children.

I hope the constituants of Wendy (I might be tempted to note another famous Wendy the Witch) whatever are up in arms about this woman’s manipulation of the system to not allow the voting to proceed. I would expect this from someone in the Beltway or the Left Coast or New England but TEXAS? What is going on down there…too many Californicators coming in to ruin your wonderful state.

Juliane thank you for the inside view. I am astonished. Where did the protestors come from? Did that ā€œGosnell Wannabeā€ abortionist hire them to protect his lucrative business? I just do not see Texas as being so determined to protect abortionists.

Heavenly Father come to the aid of your children in the womb.

Memorare (Prayer to Our Lady)
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer me. Amen

As much as I want this Bill to pass and I am in Texas, I don’t see how we can logically justify banning the peoples voice from the voting process. Remember all the outrage over Obamacare? That was the peoples voice too. Even though I don’t agree with these protesters , protesting actions of government we don’t believe in is an integral part of the American political process. We would want the right to subvert them if they were expanding abortion.

It’s Austin, the city is over run with liberals. Heck the city slogan is ā€œKeep Austin Weirdā€

The fillibuster is that one part of government process that I don’t think I’ll ever understand. ā€œIf I talk long enough, then we don’t vote and I get my way.ā€ 🤷

Yeah I heard Austin had gone over to the dark side but thought the rest of Texas would be able to overcome it. BTW same slogan here…Keep Portland Wierd…they MEAN it.

Me too…I think the filibuster to delay a vote in order for more debate, amendments or reconsideration is appropriate when it appears someone is rushing to judgment or running over the rights of the minority egregiously. But this was CLEARLY to run out the clock due to the part time status of the Texas legislature. It reminds me of those screaming meemies after the vote in Wisconsin where they took over the Capital.

Do not lose heart! Gov. Perry WILL call another special session and the bill WILL be passed this time. I am sure the disorder in the gallery will not be repeated, and this will be a momentous occasion for the pro-life movement and indeed, every American. There will be a fight all the way up to the SCOTUS but this could be the beginning of the end for unrestricted legalized abortion.

Pray for our legislators! The Gov. is rock-solid pro-life, it would have been so awesome to have elected him for President in 2012.

That wasn’t ā€œthe people’s voice,ā€ it was chaos and disruption. Order must be maintained, or the legislative process is meaningless.

Wendy Davis had a catheter inserted so she wouldn’t have to go to the bathroom. You know things have gone too far when people do such things in order to stop legislation.

I trust what you say and I have a strong hope that it will be passed in the next special session.

Here is a photo of Democrat Senators encouraging the crowd in the gallery to disrupt the voting process. Disgusting!

Sometimes peoples voices are chaos and disruption. When we shut them down, we are also shutting ourselves down the next time they try and pass something we don’t agree with. Same way I hate the laws passed in some areas making it illegal to pray or protest outside abortion clinics.

I could not disagree more. There is a time and a place for argument and this is not argument but mob rule, mob aggressiveness. We don’t invade the abortion clinics and scream at the doctors for doing what is legal. Our legislators were doing what their constituents WANT, and there must be order in government, or we are lost and our Constitution is meaningless.
