So I guess we will just have to agree to disagree.
No, you’re just wrong. So I guess we will just have to agree to disagree.
My sentiments exactly. When procedure is subverted by the loudest shouts, it’s mob rule, not “the people’s voice.” The “people” are reflected in whom they elect and not by those who stampede the Capitol. I’m not always happy with what my elected officials decide (most of the time I’m not happy since they are all but one DemocratsI could not disagree more. There is a time and a place for argument and this is not argument but mob rule, mob aggressiveness. We don’t invade the abortion clinics and scream at the doctors for doing what is legal. Our legislators were doing what their constituents WANT, and there must be order in government, or we are lost and our Constitution is meaningless.
Indeed!Wendy Davis had a catheter inserted so she wouldn’t have to go to the bathroom. You know things have gone too far when people do such things in order to stop legislation.
You know the expression, “Liberalism is a mental disorder.” I think that proves it. :hypno:Indeed! That does seem a bit much.
But it shows us the level of devotion to their ideology that we’re fighting against. We need to step up and show them what true devotion is. As a Church, we have looked into the graves of pagan Rome, the Huns, the Islamic caliphates in Europe, the Mongols… All by standing firm in our Faith.Indeed! That does seem a bit much.
You mean when people do such things in order to ensure that more babies are killed.Wendy Davis had a catheter inserted so she wouldn’t have to go to the bathroom. You know things have gone too far when people do such things in order to stop legislation.
This made me sick to my stomach.
Sometimes I wish our legislatures had a version of the British parliamentary “I spy strangers”…Do not lose heart! Gov. Perry WILL call another special session and the bill WILL be passed this time. I am sure the disorder in the gallery will not be repeated, and this will be a momentous occasion for the pro-life movement and indeed, every American. There will be a fight all the way up to the SCOTUS but this could be the beginning of the end for unrestricted legalized abortion.
Pray for our legislators! The Gov. is rock-solid pro-life, it would have been so awesome to have elected him for President in 2012.

What the heck are you using this smiley for?? Do you mean you are happy that this bill did not pass? You call yourself a Catholic yet you do not approve of care for pregnant women up to the standard of any health clinic? That a 20 week old baby who has the right to be born, be protected in the womb until he/she can be born?

The Texas Catholic Conference is disappointed that the disruptions in the Senate chamber thwarted the Texas Senate from passing Senate Bill 5 before the midnight deadline. The Senate votes record shows that with 19 yeas and 10 nays, the measure had received more than enough votes necessary to pass. As a result, measures to protect unborn life and to increase the health and safety of Texas women have been delayed. Given this and other essential issues that are awaiting legislative action, the TCC urges Governor Perry to call a second special session quickly to address this and the other issues that were not resolved before time ran out on the first special session.

In this case it’s not the people’s voice. This is a small minority of protestors who in effect prevented legitimate DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED authorities from doing their job and representing their constituents (the people) in the Texas senate.Sometimes peoples voices are chaos and disruption. When we shut them down, we are also shutting ourselves down the next time they try and pass something we don’t agree with. Same way I hate the laws passed in some areas making it illegal to pray or protest outside abortion clinics.
Praying for your legislators and for Gov. Perry and missing living in the great state of Texas, more than I can say.I have been following this from the beginning. Technically, the bill would have passed, since they started the vote before midnight, but the opponents would not agree on that point. Usually this is just a matter of procedure, but not this time.
Gov. Perry WILL call another special session, and the bill WILL be passed. The leadership in the GOP majority needs to step up and get it done. Of course it will be challenged legally but in the meantime, it will show the nation that we are unafraid to challenge the Democrat shibboleth of abortion.
Pray for our legislators and for Gov. Perry!
Come on down!I have got to move to Texas.
I applaud Ms. Davis!!! Good for her for believing and standing up for the rights of women. Women can make these medical decisions for themselves. They don’t need Rick “oops” Perry.Wendy Davis had a catheter inserted so she wouldn’t have to go to the bathroom. I will try my best to be charitable. You say that are a Catholic. Yet here you are, on a Catholic forum, supporting abortion and gloating at this travesty that disrupted democracy. Shame on you. Shame.I applaud Ms. Davis!!! Good for her for believing and standing up for the rights of women. Women can make these medical decisions for themselves. They don’t need Rick “oops” Perry.
