Texas Republicans passed a sweeping bill that would effectively shut down most abortion clinics in the state after the state’s lieutenant governor suspended a one-woman filibuster against the hotly contested measure.
The Republican-controlled House voted for the bill while hundreds of protesters screamed from the gallery. Reporters and Democrats saw the voting begin after midnight, but Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst said it began just before.

PRAISE THE LORD!!! IT’S A GREAT DAY TO BE A TEXAN!!!

I’m really surprised there’s not an article on this already, this bill is absolutely unprecedented and would restrict almost ALL abortions in Texas. Pro-lifers here are over the moon right now.

Praise the LORD!!!👍 Thank you!😃 God bless!

PRAISE GOD!

Support for Wendy Davies and her filibuster was trending and Barack Obama twitter’s account sent a tweet in support of what she was doing and I thought there was a very small chance the bill would be voted on because of Wendy Davies filibuster. This was the last day it could be voted on. In the last week a horrible abortion law has been stopped in the senate in New York and this law this pro life law been passed in Texas.

UT/TT Poll
The poll split a question about abortions after 20 weeks — an effort to see whether talking in the context of fetal pain changed the responses of Texas voters. It didn’t: 62 percent said they would support “prohibiting abortions after 20 weeks based on the argument that a fetus can feel pain at that point,” and that same percentage said they support “prohibiting abortions after 20 weeks.” Nearly half — 49 percent in the first question and 47 percent in the second — said they would strongly support those prohibitions.

^Well, the angry, shouting mob claims that the senators voted past midnight. But how could they determine that? They have been shouting even before midnight, drowning what was happening among the senators.

Computer says the official vote went through after midnight according to latest AP sources.

Edit: Now is inconclusive.

Well, does the computer record the date the voting happened or the date the event was recorded? Even if a mistake was done originally, then it could be changed to reflect what really happened.

I really hope this bill is passed. To allow a noisy minority (aka mob) to disrupt the proceedings by shouting minutes before midnight and delay or drown out the voting is an insult to democracy. Kindly put this mob in an un-airconditioned cell in Texas.

And if the vote be nullified, I hope Gov. Perry would call a special session to their faces.

Did not pass. Was too late. Pray Rick Perry calls for a special session.

Sad news. Let’s pray and call on Gov. Perry to call on second session, especially because the mob disrupted the voting.

This bill passed in the senate and what reason could there be to think it will not pass again if brought up for a vote. Those not in favor of this bill are fighting a losing battle.

I was under the impression it had failed due to the filibusterer. WOOT!!! That’s amazing! I can honestly say that I’m proud to be a Texan right now.

Texas: Bill to Ban Late-Term Abortions Doesn’t Pass, 2nd Session Likely
After a long and confusing night filled with a filibuster and a pro-abortion mob that made it difficult for lawmakers to debate and vote, the Texas state Senate appeared to pass a ban on late-term abortions 19-12. Later, lawmakers came back and said the vote had not officially been taken before the midnight deadline for the special session.
As a result, the bill is dead, but political observers expect pro-life Texas Gov. Rick Perry to call the legislature into another special session, where legislators will almost certainly pass the bill anew.
