He killed 600 Americans, maimed hundreds, was actively planning to kill more. We took out one terrorist. What number of dead American’s constitutes an action of last resort for you?
Absolutely and this whole news event has been huge, there have been many, many articles detailing what Soleimani did.

Syria, that is a horrible war, ISIS was horrible but the regime and their allies seem to have done some very bad things too.

This is no disrespect meant to anyone and certainly NOT to you, but a lot of folks are not up on this matter, this has been all over the news.

It was not Soleimani himself, nor his forces, that killed Americans, though supposedly they did train Iraqi militants to fight American forces (I have not found a trusted source of this). The US has done the same, but on a massive scale, bombing neighborhoods in Iraq, supplying cluster bombs to Israel for use against Lebanes civilians, providing weapons to the Saudis to do massive action against Yemeni Houthis. So yes, Soleimani did wrong, but we have also done severe wrongs. Assassinations and war are not the answer, certainly not the Christian answer.

It is war, and all of it goes against Catholic just war doctrine. By the logic you present, the Iranians have every right to assassinate US military leaders.

Those are not supported in fact:
There have not been significant U.S. casualties in Iraq since around 2007, when charges of Iranian involvement in attacks against U.S. forces first surfaced. Virtually all attacks against U.S. forces since the 2003 invasion had come from Baathist, Sunni, and other anti-Iranian groups. Of the more than 10,000 suspected insurgents arrested in U.S. counter-insurgency sweeps prior to the first U.S. withdrawal in 2011, the relatively few foreigners among them were Arabs, not Iranians.

Of all things, can one believe this on this night of all nights,

Boeing 737 Passenger Jet Crashes in Iran Due to Technical Issue

180 people on board, I’ll just post that headline above. Pretty shocking, I hope they have survivors, everyone, early reporting. Kind of unreal seeing this tonight. It doesn’t sound good. Plane was heading to Ukraine. Sounds like it is a “Ukraine Airlines” plane.

That is just totally inaccurate. The US has not done the same. Soleimani was a terrorist, period. Obama Administration and United Nations declared him such. Iran is a declared state sponsor of terrorism, period. People seem to forget that. Iran has been supporting terrorist for many many years, period. They try to hide it well and play the victim, period. They are trying to get more allies and for reason… They have one goal in mind. . . . You do know what they say right?, and what they have been saying for years. Death to America.

Wow. That is an incredibly ugly generalization about a non-homogenous group.

Oh please! Is Iran not a state sponsor of terrorism? Have they not been declared that? That’s what I said. Maybe you think Iran hasn’t been sponsoring terrorism for years? But one is delusional if they think that to be the case!

Please provide reference.
The US has not done the same.
The US has done all I stated and more. We have terrorized the Middle East with drones and bombings. Please try to imagine what it would be like to have foreign drones doing the same in the US.

Terror.
People seem to forget that. Iran has been supporting terrorist for many many years, period.
Again, your saying so does not make it so. They have provided some support to Hezbollah, which at times (though very rarely) has done terrorist acts against Israelis. If you find more evidence please provide. The US media has a spread a great deal of misinformation in order to make this something other than a conflict between Israel and Iran.

This is not our war.
they have been saying for years. Death to America.
The American government overthrew Iran’s elected leader and installed a president who cooperated more with US corporations and government. Please try to imagine what it would be like if a foreign government did that to the US.

This was your statement:

“ Muslims if you know any and get to know them well will tell you that what they say is what they mean. You do know what they say right?, and what they have been saying for years. Death to America.”

Muslims aren’t part of some hive mind.

Do you know any Muslims? Have you ever been to a mosque? Have you ever studied Shahada? I have in Cambridge, MA. I also went to the same school with two well know terrorist in Cambridge, MA, who also went to this same mosque as well. Again Muslims mean what they say, get to know some, they will tell that themselves, as many have told me and as the Shahada study reflects such as well. They take what they say as far as their actions very seriously, and speak the truth to their actions. What they speak regarding their actions under their religion has consequences if clearly misspoken. So yes, my statement is a statement that has been told to me by Muslims themselves because of believes. Maybe they were lying to me though. Maybe also actually study the Shahada in a mosque as well among Muslims to understand. Good Muslims will tell you exactly how it is among some of these terrorist and state sponsors of terrorism in the Middle East too. Seems you want to flag posts though. Interesting what that Shahada teaches and what I said it teaches gets edited out as a result…

We can all find sources to say what we want
Read the Wikipedia article, Victoria.
U.S. Army’s Iraq War General Stanley McChrystal describes the Quds Force as an organization roughly analogous to a combination of the CIA and the Joint Special Operations Command in the United States.
Carefully read the Wikipedia article. The Washington Institute for Near East Policy was started by AIPAC, and the other use of “alleged” has no hard evidence attached. The fact is that weapons going from Iran to the Taliban (dwarfed by what is coming from Pakistan) does not prove that Iran wishes to support them, as they are historically enemies.

Neither the US or Iran have behaved ethically. It is time for both nations’ populations to demand an end to animosity.

Iranians on Soleimani:

Who Was the Vicious Criminal Qassem Soleimani

This too:

AIPAC, Smaypac, last week, an Iranian attack killed an American contractor. You know who he was? That info has been released… he was an Arab and a translator of Arabic.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/inve...a7e774-31ac-11ea-91fd-82d4e04a3fac_story.html

One can go on and on with the stories.

Now, I hope no one would actually dispute the repression of protesters in both Iran and Iraq. In both of those countries, it is said the Iranians are behind it. How anyone can defend this repression is beyond me and largely come out and say, “well, the US does similar things”, yes, we are not perfect but we are far from doing these kinds of things.

I try to be somewhat “open-minded” as one should be, I’ll read different resources… I actually like a lot of Democracy Now, I read this 2 part article:

I try to stay away from a press or all stories that “vilify” someone, maybe Saddam was vilified, we vilify leaders of foreign countries, we vilify politicians and it’s not right to at least, do it all the time. Valid criticism is fine.

Was it Israel’s embassy they were attacking a week or two ago?

No, it was our embassy. Iran has been escalating various kinds
of attacks over the past year.
