I don’t know or care. They aren’t the topic of this thread. The people who are the topic of this thread are known liars and for all I know are literate enough to have read these stories.

The conditions in the Us detention centers are what they are. Maybe they are terrible, maybe not.
However, basing your argument that they are terrible in the word of people who have already lied ain’t gonna work.

If it was cold in the center, that is a bad thing. But I will not believe it was cold there based on the word of these people because they have already lied big-time, and in much the same way: to make those connected to border enforcement look bad.

If you want to discuss the bad conditions at detention facilities, start a thread with one of the numerous articles you have posted here.

It is bad. I’ve posted links to prove it.

So basically, you’re willing to believe testimonies that these facilities are unsanitary, diseased, and full of medical neglect.

But why on earth would they turn off the thermostat at night? Only a liar who (apparently, supposedly :roll_eyes:) refuses to hold her cold baby would say such an awful thing.

I started the thread and am well aware of the topic. As I’ve stated multiple time, the testimony of this couple BACKS what multiple governmental and non-governmental sources have confirmed about substandard and even horrible conditions.

Dismiss the couple as much as your heart desires; their testimony simply corroborates that of many other sources. And if you refuse to believe that, there’s not much else I can do for you.
 
Regular blankets work for long term detention, like prison. For short term periods I think a sterile and disposable solution makes great sense

The original article supposedly exposed 2 bad things about our border control: that they pick up innocent people and that they keep the temp too low.

It turned out that the people in the article lied about the first part. So why should we believe the second statement?

Also, you have made comments about “Right-wingers” who “blame the victims” and only go with what aids “their narrative.” You have not explained how you are not doing the exact same thing, even tho I did mention above that you and I are in the same position wrt information.

What is your implication here? That people do not believe that conditions are bad in the detention centers because of the “race” or economic level of the people detained.

So you expect us to believe the rich anglos’ statement more, but again we look at the entire situation, which is that they are liars, and refuse to believe their statement as well.

I’m sorry that your example didn"t work out, but there is a high percentage of bad guys among those who enter or stay in the country illegally, people who wouldn’t hesitate to lie.

And if there are already countless reports of inhumane conditions, as linked above, why would you believe ICE when it says otherwise?

ICE has already been caught in acts of medical neglect and experienced a whopping 24 preventable deaths in its custody. They’ve been caught smuggling drugs and assisting coyotes, i.e. human smugglers, as well as brutally abusing children. They’ve even got a rape case on their hands.

But, by golly, I’m sure they’re keeping the heat on. :roll_eyes:

Why is race in quotes? What else would you call it?

Honestly, I don’t think you’ll believe anybody. You’ve already made up your mind what you want to believe despite the reports (i.e. evidence) that I’ve posted.

A tornado blew through my neighborhood earlier this year.
Based on your logic, anyone that talks about it has to be telling the truth since a news article talks about it too.

The attached article has been shown to be false in at least one significant area.
Why should we believe it as evidence at all?

The title and the article no longer support your narrative. So we now want to change the subject.

I’ll stick with it.
Reading the article, the US border patrol sounds worse and worse. They’re vile and disgusting…don’t even care about babies.
Until one looks a little deeper.
Then the story falls apart.

It’s too bad we don’t have video evidence for any other claims. But it does tell us that there should be some skepticism listening to the words from criminals.
