For Brother JR and the Children…

Memorare (Prayer to Our Lady)
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer me. Amen

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

I’m sending Church Militant a private message and hoping he can update on Brother Jay. Hopefully, no news (this thread has been inactive and silent) is good news.

God bless Brother Jay!
Thank you !

I did get a message from Brother Jay the other day and here’s a good update.
I’m not doing badly. My health is stable, which is good. I don’t have the ups and downs. This week is the first time in very long time that I truly felt that I want to get back into the swing of religious life and the apostolate. Prior to this, it has been a cross. I’ve been feeling very tired all the time. But this week I felt much more energetic. I’ve been praying the LOTH with the brothers rather than alone. That’s good.
I’m back to teaching the novices and postulants. I had given that over to another brother for more than four months. Two weeks ago I decided I wanted to try it again. I confess that it wears me out. But that’s OK, because it’s the last activity of the day. I can just go to bed.
I hope to go on another retreat this August. I have it reserved. I’m hoping my health will cooperate. The Trappists have a monastery in my home town. I thought I’d go there for a silent retreat for about five days and visit my daughter and family for another two or three.
I have a few people who subscribe to my blog and who maintain contact via email. They’re truly interested in learning the faith, not just how to do this or that.
Other than that, it’s been very hot and humid down here. I carry a portable oxygen tank everywhere. I helps me breathe much better. I’m really enjoying spending time with the younger brothers. They’re fun, intelligent, eager to learn, they ask questions, but they don’t question you. They’re always ready to laugh. Nothing is so sacred that one can’t laugh, because we know that God has a great sense of humor.
So he’s doing better, which is great because it means we get to continue to blessed with his counsel and teaching a while longer…and that he remains here with us too.

I suspect that with his limited energy levels he has to marshal himself for his work and so doesn’t post.

We all continue to pray for him and with him.

Thanks be to G-d!
Thank you Church Militant!

What’s the link to Brother JR’s blog? 🙂

That is excellent news. Agree with Brother JR or not, his posts were always informative and well thought out. I miss reading them, but am glad that his health continues to improve.

All my very best.

I believe this is the link to his blog. Someone correct if I am wrong.

There are several categories of blog posts on the right.
Thank you Clem 456. Yes this is the correct one. :angel1:

thanks. i was wondering and am still praying.

Hello friends, brothers and sisters:

To all of you who are praying for me, sending me PMs, emails and just following along, I want to thank you and offer a very special prayer for you and your loved ones as a sign of appreciation, because I don’t have anything material that I can give you as a gift.

So far, I’m managing to stay out of the hospital The last time I was in the hospital was in March. I’ve been in four times this year. Everything seems to be stable for the time being. I’m not cured, but I’m not going down either. I’m at a standstill.

I thank you for the prayers. Your prayers made things stabilize.

I come through here once in a while and read, but there is so much that I could speak to that I don’t have the energy to become involved in all the wonderful discussions that are taking place all over CAF. Right now, I’m trying to get my community in order. We’re getting more inquirers. This is a good thing. The brothers are very helpful with this. I still like to touch base with these men and learn a little about them.

From August 13 to August 20, I’ll be on retreat and with two days to spare, I hope to visit my hometown. I have not been there in a very long time. The Trappists have a monastery in the area. That’s where I’m going on retreat. Pray that the airline will cooperate. I have to carry a portable oxygen concentrator, but the rules are very strict. I’m trying to get one that the airline will approve. Unfortunately, the FAA does not have a standard rule for these things. Each airline makes up its own rules as far as size, brand name and even the size of the battery.

I’d like to ask you to pray for a very special intention. I have a friend who is upset about something. He’s the kind of person who tortures himself turning things over and over in his head until a pebble become a boulder. I hate to see him this way; but nothing that I can say has helped. I know that this kind of thinking takes away a person’s interior peace. Please pray for him. I truly appreciate it.

Thank you for your friendship and for everything that you do for me. You’re awesome.

Don’t forget, August 14 is the Solemnity of St Maximilian Kolbe. Well, it’s a solemnity on our calendar, because he’s the patron of Franciscans for Life. He’s a memorial on the OF calendar and does not register on the EF calendar. But remember to say a little prayer to him. He was a great man.
