If someone wants to be gay so be it. Thats freedom.
I don’t cherry pick my faith seeing as there’s not much of it left anymore to cherry pick. You sir have been among my best examples of the joke in my history on these boards. It is a joke for him/her. When you cherry pick your faith you can’t be taking it serious.
There’s a higher chance that you’re just another online poster who blows smoke about sacrificing critical business matters over morality but has never actually done it. Lose a business and a job for your faith. After that, get back up. Then you can talk. Till then, the little halo you’re taking about is right over there in the props section. So apparently obeying God and his Church makes one “holier than thou” now?
Well at risk of my "playing spiritually-higher-than-you card. I put God before business matters.
Now… Where did i hang my halo?![]()
It’s pitiful evidence of how far gone Catholicism has become in the culture crusade. Now we have a ridiculous ‘counter-culture’ movement that eats and drinks whatever ‘alternative’ theory there is just because it’s not ‘tainted’ by the ‘gay agenda.’And by the way, his name is Matthew. If you’re going to spit on a dead man’s grave, at least get his name right. Sam Shepard was a playwright.
Maybe you’re jealous of others strength in their faith? It seems that you get upset and try to mock people who demonstrate what you feel is a deeper commitment to the faith.I don’t cherry pick my faith seeing as there’s not much of it left anymore to cherry pick. You sir have been among my best examples of the joke in my history on these boards.![]()
You don’t know me nor what i have or have not done. Have i lost money through my employment due to my faith? Yes i have. And i don’t regret it either. Would i have went all the way and lost my job completely? Yes i would have,There’s a higher chance that you’re just another online poster who blows smoke about sacrificing critical business matters over morality but has never actually done it. Lose a business and a job for your faith. After that, get back up. Then you can talk. Till then, the little halo you’re taking about is right over there in the props section.
What should i do? Put a large sign outside asking some homosexual to come and try to make me do something that would go against my faith so i can take them to court? Grow up bro.Unless you’ve done as much as challenge the Supreme Court on the level of Hobby Lobby and Eden Foods, don’t expect me to take you seriously kid.
It is still the same now as it was when it has started. Saying that homosexuality is a sin is not something they decided upon last week. So where you got that " Now we have a ridiculous ‘counter-culture’ movement that eats and drinks whatever ‘alternative’ theory there is just because it’s not ‘tainted’ by the 'gay agenda" diatribe from i have no idea. If what the Church teaches is now “counter culture” then it is because everyone else has changed, while the Church has kept Gods law. I just find it sad that there are so called Catholics out there who because of weakness, brainwashing or what ever get upset and try to bully those who are doing nothing trying to obey Gods law. It’s pitiful evidence of how far gone Catholicism has become in the culture crusade. Now we have a ridiculous ‘counter-culture’ movement that eats and drinks whatever ‘alternative’ theory there is just because it’s not ‘tainted’ by the ‘gay agenda.’
Depends on the business matters !! God Bless, MemawAh yes, the whole I’m spiritually-higher-than-you card that religious people play so that business matters seem beneath them.
People like you are the reason why I sucked at my first job.
Done long ago.Lose a business and a job for your faith. After that, get back up. Then you can talk. Till then, the little halo you’re taking about is right over there in the props section.
That doesn’t make sense to me. Suffering for the faith is always a raw deal, in this life. That’s part of the reason it is rewarded in heaven. That does seem a raw deal. If the faith were valued more, then the loss of the job would be in perspective.
Suffering is always a raw deal. That doesn’t make sense to me. Suffering for the faith is always a raw deal, in this life. That’s part of the reason it is rewarded in heaven.
Yes, because I automatically make fun of something means I’m soo jealous. School kid logic much?Maybe you’re jealous of others strength in their faith? It seems that you get upset and try to mock people who demonstrate what you feel is a deeper commitment to the faith.
Then why aren’t you?Yes i would have
Says the guy who uses school kid logic regarding jealousy and cites tabloid research against a homophobia victim. What should i do? Put a large sign outside asking some homosexual to come and try to make me do something that would go against my faith so i can take them to court? Grow up bro.
I don’t have problem with homosexual actions being described as a sin.bully those who are doing nothing trying to obey Gods law.
Correction: Do not value now. I lost the job (and brought down my parents’ business) because I was just as spiritually proud as you thinking my beliefs were a higher priority. Raw deal? Don’t get me started. You (claim to) lost a job for a faith that you do not value.
You’re right. But that’s the thing, I work in marketing remember? I don’t remember you saying the same. That’s why I’m telling people to give the franchise some slack. Honestly, I pity every BK employee of that branch who reads this thread or goes to church and gets the same boycott backlash. In any case, you are not the topic of the thread. Burger King and their latest marketing scheme are.
It is difficult to count people not going to Burger King, but it would be interesting to watch the P&L statements and compare with last year.
I never said you was jealous because you made fun of it. I said it because that’s how you came off. You seemed jealous of others strength in their faith. You indicated you wanted to be more secure in it. but couldn’t be, So you set about trying to mock those who were.Yes, because I automatically make fun of something means I’m soo jealous. School kid logic much?
Why weren’t i what? Fired? Because i won that’s why.Then why aren’t you?
It is now known that . McKinney and Shepard were gay lovers. It is also known that the chain of events started with a drug deal gone bad. And no, i didn’t get that information from tabloid media or “research” (what ever that means). Plus here is a pro tip my friend. Don’t spend a whole post calling people childish after calling them names and accusing them of doing things you have no proof of. Call me what you like. I refuse to be intimidated or bullied by you people any longer.Says the guy who uses school kid logic regarding jealousy and cites tabloid research against a homophobia victim.
Who said anything about quitting a job out of spiritual pride?I don’t have problem with homosexual actions being described as a sin. What I have problem with is using religion to justify something stupid like quitting one’s job and jeopardizing their income out of spiritual pride.
Now you’re playing the race card? You think white people are the only race to think homosexuality is a sin? Really, that’s just amazing. Either way, here you are again trying to down play someones strength in their faith. This has nothing to do with pride. It is only to do with following Gods law. What I have a problem with is using religion to justify over-reactionary responses and Catholics living up to America’s worse caricatures of white, right-wing Christianity out of spiritual pride.
Well. to me God is real and tangible. And maybe that’s your problem? I think everyone on here would agree about the importance of putting food and having what we would call modern day essentials. But as far as jobs goes. There are many jobs, but only one God.That’s what I see in you and in other people here: Spiritual pride.
At least the things I take pride in look tangible on my dinner plate and the electricity in my house.
See this?I never said you was jealous because you made fun of it. I said it because that’s how you came off.
This is a contradiction. Clear as day. I need not speak further. You’ve saved me that trouble. You seemed jealous of others strength in their faith. You indicated you wanted to be more secure in it. but couldn’t be, So you set about trying to mock those who were.
Nope, I meant why aren’t you still pushing it? Why are you trying to ‘win’? I thought your faith meant more to you than any job. So go ahead. Lose it.Why weren’t i what? Fired? Because i won that’s why.
Yeah. You call yourself a pro. Christian humility? You’re giving me another joke here. Whenever I see threads like this, it really says how much it brings comments like yours out of the cathedral woodworks. It is now known that . McKinney and Shepard were gay lovers. It is also known that the chain of events started with a drug deal gone bad.
People like you who jeopardize their livelihood for a so-called faith yet wear the act like a badge of honor. You’re quite willing to quit your job because it seems going to church and protesting marketing stunts seems a higher priority in your life. You call me childish?Who said anything about quitting a job out of spiritual pride?
Oh no, it’s pride in a stereotype. Look at what you’re doing. You’re taking great religious offense from a burger wrapper. You call it propaganda. You cry anti-Church agenda. Your comments are living, breathing parrots of the entire Christian right movement that’s making a court jester out of this religion. This has nothing to do with pride. It is only to do with following Gods law.
Pff… many jobs.I think everyone on here would agree about the importance of putting food and having what we would call modern day essentials. But as far as jobs goes. There are many jobs, but only one God.
I should i wrote it.See this?
No contradiction. you appear jealous, so that’s why i said you’re jealous. This is a contradiction. Clear as day. I need not speak further. You’ve saved me that trouble.![]()
Because i won. I already said this. How much clearer can i make it? And since i won, why quit? I don’t understand the logic.Nope, I meant why aren’t you still pushing it? Why are you trying to ‘win’? I thought your faith meant more to you than any job. So go ahead. Lose it.
I call myself a what now?Yeah. You call yourself a pro. Christian humility? You’re giving me another joke here. Whenever I see threads like this, it really says how much it brings comments like yours out of the cathedral woodworks.
Oh and FYI, the only source I’ve checked that makes your claim is some guy named Jimenez and I can’t say he’s reliable.
My so called faith is real. And i don’t wear anything like a badge. I only brought it up because it was relevant. Your assumptions are running wild again. In fact they are bordering on lies. I wasn’t going to quit my job over any marketing stunt. What are you talking about? But yes. Going to Church is more important than my job. No one is going to die if i quit or have a day off.People like you who jeopardize their livelihood for a so-called faith yet wear the act like a badge of honor. You’re quite willing to quit your job because it seems going to church and protesting marketing stunts seems a higher priority in your life. You call me childish?
I grew up in a house with 3 atheist brothers. Who had foul mouths and a sharp wit. Believe me. I am not going to feel any great offense over a rainbow burger wrapper.Oh no, it’s pride in a stereotype. Look at what you’re doing. You’re taking great religious offense from a burger wrapper. You call it propaganda. You cry anti-Church agenda. Your comments are living, breathing parrots of the entire Christian right movement that’s making a court jester out of this religion.
Did i say people should quit their job? No i didn’t i am talking about myself. So really i have no idea again about what you’re talking claimingYeah, I’m sure your local panhandler would like to hear those words. Maybe you should be preaching to them instead of BK. I’d forward your words to the local beggars here but they don’t understand much English.![]()
Lose a business and a job for your faith.
You never seemed to address the fact that people who sacrifice business for the sake of morality defeat the very notion when they’re just shooting themselves in the foot. There’s no morality to speak of and yet you pretend there is.
I fail to see the point in a morality that lets you sacrifice work ethics just so you could feel more ‘righteous.’
From my experience, that moral absolutism didn’t pay my bills as much as shut down my parents’ business.
What I have problem with is using religion to justify something stupid like quitting one’s job and jeopardizing their income out of spiritual pride.
So which is it?I thought your faith meant more to you than any job. So go ahead. Lose it.
I would simply let the assumptions run.It really drags the convo on when i have to spend half my post correcting you.
Apparently you don’t as evidenced further below.I should i wrote it.
I appear jealous because I criticize the faith. You said so yourself. No contradiction. you appear jealous, so that’s why i said you’re jealous.
The fact that you had to ‘win’ kinda defeats the idea of sacrificing that little victory for your faith. And since i won, why quit? I don’t understand the logic.
Thanks for proving that you didn’t read the link. And FYI. Just because you don’t like the source, doesn’t mean it isn’t true.
Wanna bet? Again, why don’t you quit your job then? You talk of assumptions but frankly, I’m just calling you off on your boasts. You claim the faith means so much to you that you think it should give you some license to trod on a company you don’t even work for as well as flippantly align with people who think the folks at BK should be sacrificing business sensibility for your moralism.I wasn’t going to quit my job over any marketing stunt. What are you talking about? But yes. Going to Church is more important than my job. No one is going to die if i quit or have a day off.
Yet you condemn the branch all the same. Really, your comments speak for themselves.I grew up in a house with 3 atheist brothers. Who had foul mouths and a sharp wit. Believe me. I am not going to feel any great offense over a rainbow burger wrapper.
You and some people here certainly take joy in being able to do that for their faith and wear it like a badge so you can wave it at BK along with your moralist wagging finger.Did i say people should quit their job?
All of the above. So which is it?
The job is lost because of faith?
The job is given up?
The business is lost for the faith?
The job is walked away from because of faith?
The job is given up because of pride?
The fact is any marketer will tell you more or less the same thing: You don’t know squat about why companies really do this. You’re not the CMO, you’re not anyone working in BK’s marketing department, and you don’t even know marketing, period. Thus, the criticism I see being lobbied in this thread is uncalled for.At face value, we are supposed to put up with your abuse of the church and its teachings on the basis that somewhere along the way this faith proved a problem.
We are also asked to accept you as a marketing expert on what BK is doing and apparently the wrongness and taking some kind of economic response to this.
There are times and places when boycotts and buycotts are appropriate, certainly, but the way in which they have become the default method of public discourse and social advocacy is troubling.
Simple logic and ‘morality’ a sales report does not make. And frankly, neither does it make a complete business strategy. There are too many variables to consider but you only base yours on rigid, self-righteous moralism.I am having a difficult time believing my own economic decisions against BK, as well as others are ill-advised based solely on your word. There just seems too much anger against the church and minor inconsistencies in the events for me to simply take at face value.
This is why simple logic and morality are best when presenting a case.
I told you why.Apparently you don’t as evidenced further below.
I appear jealous because I criticize the faith. You said so yourself.![]()
I don’t understand. I won. Should i have asked my boss to sack me just so i can “sacrifice” something for my faith? Wasn’t that the kind of behaviour you have just spent half dozen post complaining about? The fact that you had to ‘win’ kinda defeats the idea of sacrificing that little victory for your faith.
You don’t believe a homosexual who put his career on the line. Because it is just “tabloid” journalism. Yet you expect me to believe some pro homosexual blog? Thanks for proving that you didn’t read the link.
Why should i quit my job? Tell me why? I fought for it and won. So why should i quit it? Your logic would do even Dr Spocks head in honestly. And ieven if i was unemployed. I would still have he right to voice my opinion. And i highly doubt that BK would sacrifice a penny for me. But, that’s not why i am saying i will not eat at BK. It is a personal choice. A choice i made based on my faith. Yeah, BK can support sin all it wants. But it wont be doing it on my dime.Wanna bet? Again, why don’t you quit your job then? You talk of assumptions but frankly, I’m just calling you off on your boasts. You claim the faith means so much to you that you think it should give you some license to trod on a company you don’t even work for as well as flippantly align with people who think the folks at BK should be sacrificing business sensibility for your moralism.
I don’t support it because it goes against my faith. Not because it hurt my feelings.Yet you condemn the branch all the same. Really, your comments speak for themselves.
Don’t tell me what i take joy in. I told you last post to stop making assumptions. If you want to do that, go start another thread where you can have imaginary discussions with me all you want. You and some people here certainly take joy in being able to do that for their faith and wear it like a badge so you can wave it at BK along with your moralist wagging finger.
Not that you have sufficient information for this conclusion…You don’t know squat about why companies really do this. You’re not the CMO, you’re not anyone working in BK’s marketing department, and you don’t even know marketing, period. Thus, the criticism I see being lobbied in this thread is uncalled for.
No one said they do.Simple logic and ‘morality’ a sales report does not make.
If the choice is to sin or not to sin, there is only one law to consider. God’s law.And frankly, neither does it make a complete business strategy. There are too many variables to consider but you only base yours on rigid, self-righteous moralism.
Yes, grade school logic. I am jealous because I criticize the religion. Uh-huh.I told you why.
Obviously.I don’t understand. I won. Should i have asked my boss to sack me just so i can “sacrifice” something for my faith?
Indeed. But since you consider the act such a wonderful virtue, why did you fight? Your job is second place to your faith. Fighting for something you value less seems illogical and pointless.Wasn’t that the kind of behaviour you have just spent half dozen post complaining about?
Who’s playing cards now? What does the homosexuality of either party have to do with the challenges to Jimenez’s ‘facts’? He claims to have painstakingly researched yet the link I showed you questions the very origins of his assumptions. You don’t believe a homosexual who put his career on the line. Because it is just “tabloid” journalism. Yet you expect me to believe some pro homosexual blog?
Because your faith seems soooo important to you.Why should i quit my job? Tell me why? I fought for it and won. So why should i quit it?
I see no difference. Offended is offended.I don’t support it because it goes against my faith. Not because it hurt my feelings.
I’m not assuming anything. You’re the one contradicting yourself saying your job matters little compared to your faith yet still chose to fight for said job. You’re the one who naively suggests that jeopardizing one’s job is just child’s play if your so-called ‘faith’ seemed far more valuable.Don’t tell me what i take joy in. I told you last post to stop making assumptions.
Following your logic. There’s no need for due process. Not that you have sufficient information for this conclusion…
One does not have to know all of the details behind a sin to know it is a sin.
That’s not for you to decide. That’s for whatever BK determines as the largest source of revenue. Personally, I hold no stake in the outcome. I’m just sick of moralists thinking their ideals are all they need to make judgment calls on topics they neither have knowledge or experience with. Such people are no different than the far-left Occupy and Ad Busters movement. No one said they do.
I just was curious to see if the fruits of their sin are apparent yet.
Yeah sure. A law that seems to fall on itself stating that’s it’s better to commit injustice to oneself than another perceived injustice. If the choice is to sin or not to sin, there is only one law to consider. God’s law.
I see.Indeed. But since you consider the act such a wonderful virtue, why did you fight? Your job is second place to your faith. Fighting for something you value less seems illogical and pointless.
So again, why don’t you quit?
Due process is a process to determine a violation of man’s laws. Not God’s.Following your logic. There’s no need for due process.
Decide what? That’s not for you to decide.
For someone that claims no stake, you certainly are spending a lot of energy berating those that know the wrongness of the action.Personally, I hold no stake in the outcome.
As stated before, one does not need all of the details behind a sin to know it a sin.I’m just sick of moralists thinking their ideals are all they need to make judgment calls on topics they neither have knowledge or experience with. Such people are no different than the far-left Occupy and Ad Busters movement.
It is apparent you have no understanding here.Yeah sure. A law that seems to fall on itself stating that’s it’s better to commit injustice to oneself than another perceived injustice.
It’s really one big joke.
Don’t look at me. That’s the religion you’re describing. If that doesn’t make sense to you, it makes me wonder why you even defend it.I see.
So if someone has not suffered for their faith, it is meaningless.
If circumstances do not provide the suffering, then we are to force it.
You make no sense.
Oh I see, so either you’re automatically guilty or your innocent. No investigation necessary. Yeah that’s Christian justice for ya.Due process is a process to determine a violation of man’s laws. Not God’s.
Since we are discussing God’s law here, your statement fails.
Decide whether or not their plan worked. You don’t even work at BK. What makes you think you’ll be privy to all the details?Decide what?
You are making unwarranted assumptions again.
Says the guy protesting a burger wrapper. Pot, your friend kettle really likes blowing steam. For someone that claims no stake, you certainly are spending a lot of energy berating those that know the wrongness of the action.
The lady doth protest too much, methinks.
Uh-huh. Yeah keep talking like that. It gives me more proof of the inapplicable rigidity of Christian morality. Oh and while you’re at it, how the morality justifies zero lack of due process. As stated before, one does not need all of the details behind a sin to know it a sin.
I’ll take my ‘worldly’ real life experience over a mind that lives in the bubble of ideals. It is apparent you have no understanding here.
