Believe me, I am glad I’m not working in that branch myself. Not so much for the moral dilemma but for the fact that gays are a demographic I’m more used to making light jokes about than sympathizing. (Lesbians may be a different story but that’s for another thread.)As a marketing tactic, I don’t think gay pride is appropriate, but the bottom line is they are hoping this will make them money.
The thing is people think marketing is just some filthy corporate conspiracy. It is not. Like any department, it’s another essential organ to the business’ body.
I find a lot of people are just clueless about how much power being a customer can be and more than that, being part of a much larger demographic. If you think one fat wallet packs a whopper (pardon the pun), try a whole mob of them. There you’ll see why businesses seem to ‘sell out’ so easily to the 1%/99% or whatever percent pays for your paycheck.
