I’m hoping the ECs who attended will respond. (There have been responses elsewhere from ECs who were involved.)From the Closing Liturgy of the Los Angeles Religious Education Congress 2010

Something very similar was posted elsewhere. I’m hoping the ECCs who attended will respond.
My Latin Church Director of Religious Ed was at the Congress, always goes and loves it. She was very excited to have gone to the Divine Liturgy there, her first experience with the DL. According to those who were there 1200 attendees went to the Divine Liturgy in one of the hotel ballrooms.
I’m so grateful to the EC clergy who were there. My DRE said the priest gave a wonderful explanation of the DL before it began. She then spoke with him at length at their information and vendor booth. She was very excited to tell me about the experience. It clearly had a big impact on her. What until now has been a vague intellectual awareness of the ECs and our worship was completely altered by her experience of the DL at the LA Congress.I’m sure she has a better understanding of me, her catechist, now as well. If they won’t come to us sometimes we have to go to them.
(Just please don’t ask me to go.

That was a “Mass”??? Looks more like a circus to me.The beginning of the Mass is a little more…interesting:
It’s even contrary to the traditional Latin approach to worship.I am very disappointed to see these Bishops participated in such a Mass. Maybe we should write a letter to them stating our concerns. Such a Liturgy is 100% contrary to the Eastern approach to worship.
What in the world is that?!?!?!?The beginning of the Mass is a little more…interesting:

Funny to see this video circulating on the Catholic/Orthodox forums.
Maybe they didn’t know it was actually going to be a Ringling Brothers production but, in all likelihood, they had at least some idea of what was going to happen. If so, they should have politely declined the invitation. To keep this post somewhat one topic. I wonder what the bishops actually thought of the Mass. Maybe they won’t be going back![]()
I wouldn’t exactly call them “dancers” since there was more gyration going on than any kind of dancing I’m familiar with. Were there liturgical dancers doing their things during the Mass? If so, that is in complete defiance of the Vatican regarding NO liturgical dancing.
LOL I’m sorry, but watching those dancers with the incense was too funny. Then there was the deacon dancing with the Gospels. Then the presiders (including the bishop) clapping while they walked to their seats. What in the world is that?!?!?!?![]()

Yeah, I have mixed feelings too: I don’t whether to laugh or barfLOL I’m sorry, but watching those dancers with the incense was too funny. Then there was the deacon dancing with the Gospels. Then the presiders (including the bishop) clapping while they walked to their seats.
I have mixed feelings though.![]()
Could be … shame they weren’t in belly dance outfits. It would have been a lot more entertaining.liturgical prancing?
Maybe that’s the loophole regarding the liturgical dancing prohibition.
The incense bowl bearers remind me of the cover of that TAN book with four nuns around a square Buddhist-style table.Yeah, I have mixed feelings too: I don’t whether to laugh or barf![]()
I wonder if they’re related to the Vestal Virgins? :The incense bowl bearers remind me of the cover of that TAN book with four nuns around a square Buddhist-style table.
