So there are Roman Catholic theologians who do believe that the teaching against artificial birth control can be changed?
In the 1960s Pope Paul VI created a commission of catholic bishops, theologians, laypeople, etc. He rejected their recommendations and issued Humanae Vitae. The people on the commission did not suddenly disappear. They were not treated as heretics or schismatics, but remained in the Church as bishops, teaching in seminaries and universities, etc. Some of their positions have changed as the result of the decision in HV, but basic principles and approaches that led to their position in the 60s have persisted.

I’m not sure if it is of any use to ask how any type of sexual attraction comes about. What causes pedophilia, or bestiality, or BDSM. or any of a huge number of sexual fetishes. How does one become attracted to threesomes or foursomes, or violence, or cross dressing, or philately or numismatism or a nudist lifestyle? Human beings are capable of any number of preferences and attractions. Only one thing is sure. There are men, and women. They are sexually complementary.
It would be just as interesting to know what causes most adults to be heterosexual. What exactly happens in the brain to bring that about? Even that is unknown.

Society’s fruits are far from Christian, and it’s fruits that we are told to judge people by.
I totally agree. I was surprised at first to find that 65% of Americans are Christian.
But it actually supports my opinion that Christians have been mute to the acceptance, introduction and promotion of sinful lifestyles for the last 40-50 years.

is that 65% who identify as Christians or 65% who actively go to church? I think you will find many who identify as Christians and a lot less who actually go to church.

Only 43% say they attend services at least once a month or more.

Yes that’s 65% who identify as Christian. Even if it’s only 43% who go to church at least once a month im still surprised with the numbers as i thought it was a lot less.

Hobbies that have nothing to do with sex in a list of sexual orientations and fetishes. They don’t belong. These are personal preferences; not all sexual “oddities” are.

It seems to me that they are all personal preferences, developed over time. People are born male or female, but nobody is born a philatelist, or with any particular ‘orientation.’ Those are all personal preferences developed over time and circumstance.

For sexual orientation, that doesn’t really pass the sniff test Jim. My chosen milk shake flavor is a preference. My inclination toward the fairer sex, in matters of romance, isn’t like that. I didn’t start from a position of “not knowing” and then evaluating the options and deciding a preference. I’ll bet you didn’t either.

At some point, the fairer sex just started to mean something, to have an allure, that the other didn’t. It was just clear where romance belonged. It’s not random. And it’s not a matter of trial and selection. Where does it come from?
