I agree. But how does the fact that we have the capacity to choose address or explain the accepted reality that some people experience sexual attraction to persons of the same sex and none to people of the opposite sex?

Are you saying the number of people attracted to both sexes is large compared to the number with only same sex attraction? Or are you saying much homosexual behaviour has nothing to do with attractions - just a means for gratification?
 
They know nor believe any such thing. They are looking forward to showing us these things can be changed.
 
I am simply guessing , imo correctly, their thoughts. They do believe these things can change, they are trying to show us neaderthals that we are wrong for thinking otherwise.

So there are Roman Catholic theologians who do believe that the teaching against artificial birth control can be changed?

65% of Americans identify as Christian in 2019.
In 1960 over 90% of Americans identified as Christian.
In 1985 it was 85% and in 2005 it was still above 70%

We live in a society where people “identify” as lots of things. Society’s fruits are far from Christian, and it’s fruits that we are told to judge people by.
 
Well, that would be the indication based on the reports I have read. Perhaps I am wrong and all of the bishops and theologians involved in planning this German synod are completely orthodox.

There have always been some of that desire. But bishops? That’s another question.
 
True. And there’s hardly a more base desire than the desire to couple with someone of the same sex.

Individuals can get aroused by themselves, so another person is not essential. Nevertheless, I mostly agree with you in so far as adults are concerned.
 
I’m not sure if it is of any use to ask how any type of sexual attraction comes about. What causes pedophilia, or bestiality, or BDSM. or any of a huge number of sexual fetishes. How does one become attracted to threesomes or foursomes, or violence, or cross dressing, or philately or numismatism or a nudist lifestyle? Human beings are capable of any number of preferences and attractions. Only one thing is sure. There are men, and women. They are sexually complementary.
 
As for the German bishops, maybe some of them think the time is ripe to try to change the Church. Some bishops thought the same way back in the 1960’s.
