Thank you for sharing your beautiful story, Angelo. Living in Palermo and Western Sicily for some time, I came along more than a few converts, but very few with the added backdrop of war in their homeland.

May G*d bless you and keep you.
Thanks, dear brother. 👍

:blessyou: and all Christians.

Thanks for giving some credit to Quran. I may have to withdraw my argument if you also do not look for abrogation in the Quran. Otherwise, there verses from God in the bible. They are also verses. Why they cannot be abrogated.?
The Koran never claims that it was revealed to abrogate the former revelations, but to confirm them:

Surah 3:3
He hath revealed unto thee (Muhammad) the Scripture with truth, confirming that which was (revealed) before it, even as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel.
You are not interested in history because it disturbs you. Please note that there was no compulsion on the pagans that they must convert. They had the liberty to go away with their property and their pagan beliefs within 4 months. I believe 4 months is not a short time. They were the previous enemies anyhow condemned to death as per their own bad behaviour.

Are you in good senses and you can see good from bad or not?
So there was no compulsion until the end of 4 months? What happened afterwards? The Koran says those pagans were forced to conversion, which overtly contradicts and/or denies the earlier verse that praises religious tolerance and liberty.

Happy feast to you 🙂

Surah 3:3

**Ofcourse Koran was revealed to CONFIRM the previous Revelations ( Torah, Injeel
ecc.) sent down by the same Revealer (God Almighty). This CONFIRMATION is a CONFIRATION of fact of previous REVELATIONS (Wahiyy) in which all Muslim MUST/DO believe.

Whether those REVELATIONS are preserved in prestine form or not, this is different issue, nothing to do with the “Confirmation” issue.

The Koran did not say that it CONFIRMS so-called gospels (story-telling books) attributed to certain people named as Matthew, Mark, Luke and John who were not even disciples of Jesus nor they are real authors (as per the admission of your own Church appointed Catholic Bible’s commentators) and “canonised” in the 4th century
loooong after Jesus.

If Christiandom has not preserved the actual sayings of Jesus in his native language and the Revlelation he got from his “Father” (who is “Father” of all too), then blame your Chrstiandom for that not the Koran.**
What Koran says, it has to be understood in it’s context and how it’s first Reciever understood it and taught us.

If Christiandom has not preserved the actual sayings of Jesus in his native language and the Revlelation he got from his “Father” (who is “Father” of all too), then blame your Chrstiandom for that not the Koran.
"Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani

We don’t “blame” anyone for the different languages of Bible the because we don’t consider that a problem. The Bible was written in three languages by several different people over a long period of time, not dictated by one person in his own tribe’s dialect over a relatively short period of time. So what? What does that prove? Nothing at all. Jesus didn’t write the Bible in the first place, so your post makes absolutely no sense and has no relevance to anything.

And, for your information, since Jesus’ native language was Aramaic, there are Bibles that are in His language, used by Aramaean (Assyrian/Syriac/Chaldean) Christians. Again, this proves nothing.

The Quran was also canonized after Muhammad’s death by Uthman. I don’t really care about this either. It is only Islam’s problem that the people can manipulate the words of God. Christians don’t believe this, which is one of the many reasons why we do not accept Muhammad or the Quran. If you have a problem with that, blame Islam’s hamstringing of the Omnipotent God, not Christianity.

We see all too often how the Quran is understood within the time at which it was written, because some Muslims are stuck in those times, and want to take the whole world back along with them. No thanks. The message of the Christ as it is found in the Bible and in His Church is for all time and all peoples.

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free person, there is not male and female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:28)

The Koran never claims that it was revealed to abrogate the former revelations, but to confirm them:

Same way that Jesus came to confirm the Mosaic law. But you all abrogated it and called the law a curse.
Surah 3:3
**Yet you do not give any credit to Quran? You do not believe in it. **
So there was no compulsion until the end of 4 months? What happened afterwards? The Koran says those pagans were forced to conversion, which overtly contradicts and/or denies the earlier verse that praises religious tolerance and liberty.

Thanks angelos for the feast. You are very kind to those killers, pagans who were given four months freedom to adjust themsleves. But you want that they remain on their pagan religion keeping worshipping idols in Makkah which they had been doing since ages. For that they killed muslims and drove the prophet out of the city of Makkah.
Why can’t they be driven out of the city safely? Please be kind to us also and reasonable to Islam
.

Why should they be driven from the city in the first place? There are Muslims in Axum, Jerusalem, and other Christian holy cities.

Islam needs to learn to live with the rest of the world. Haik Havgopian, Father Rahho, Father Jesus Reynaldo Roda, and all the men of God
what did they do to anyone of Mecca or any Islamic prophet?

Islam is not my enemy, but Islam somehow views people who do not believe in it (like me, like the pagans of Mecca, like all of us in kind) as its enemy. What did Jesus tell his apostles to do in reaction to those who will not receive them (Matthew 10:14)? “Whoever does not receive you, nor heed your words, as you go out of that house or that city, shake the dust off your feet.” No “four month” rule for Jesus, no sir! His gift to the world does not have an expiration date, save the final judgment that is reserved for God alone (in the very next verse).

I suppose the abrogation changing the qibla from Jerusalem to Makkah wasn’t really an abrogation?

I guess those Muslim exegetes and jurists were just making stuff up?

Thank you for sharing your beautiful story, Angelo. Living in Palermo and Western Sicily for some time, I came along more than a few converts, but very few with the added backdrop of war in their homeland.

May G*d bless you and keep you.
**The change of Qiblah was no abrogation. There was no verse ordering the muslims to face Jerusalem. There was no such order. So there is no question of any abrogation.

It was the good will of the prophet to follow the old revealed law (The law of Moses a.s. and the practice of the Jews) in all matters about which no new law was revealed. He even supported (and perhaps practiced) the stoning for adultry too until new law (of 100 lashes) arrived.
So facing Jerusalem was the practice of the prophet on his own goodwill. There was no order or verse to face Jerusalem.**

**You are blaming muslims for manipulating the words of Quran. The very old Quran are available in British library. You can compare them. There is no change of any word at all.

But look at your own work even today. Every day, words are being changed in the bible to make way for future comfortable ideas. That is all wrong and a sin to do that. Even though the change is small but it is misleading and making room for future misinterpretations. See just two examples below:

In Deut 18:20, it was previously written: If any one will try to be That prophet and will say that God revealed to him somethigns while God did not do it, THEN THAT PROPHET WILL BE KILLED.

Deut 18:20, 20 But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded him to say, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, must be put to death." **

Nowadays, it is being written “THAT PROPHET WILL DIE”. Why is that? Will not other prophets die? All prophet will die. But there is difference between dying and being killed. Room is made in that verse to mislead the people in future.

Also, in NT, John ch. 1, the reps of the Jewish priests asked John the baptist “Are you THAT prophet?” He replied , “NO.”

John 1= 19Now this was John’s testimony when the Jews of Jerusalem sent priests and Levites to ask him who he was. 20He did not fail to confess, but confessed freely, “I am not the Christ.[g]”
21They asked him, “Then who are you? Are you Elijah?”
He said, “I am not.”
“Are you the Prophet?”
He answered, “No.”

They have changed the words now to “Are you THE prophet?” Is it not cheating and manipulating the words to mislead people.

There is no such thing in the Quran in the last 1400 years.

So you mean that Mohammad acted as God and followed his own choice for the direction of prayers? Thanks for the confession that Islam is a man-made ideology created by Mohammad himself with nothing from above! 😉

LOL

No need to play with words you crafty Muslim poster! We do not need your faulty interpretation of the clear Koran verse or your silly allegations concerning Judaism and Christianity which were unknown to Mohammad’s scribes.

You are not allowed to pervert your own scripture this time. The Koran never says that it confirms the vague IDEA/NOTION of revelation, but the BOOKS before the Koran. Thus, your own scripture asks you Muslims to confirm the authenticity of the Jewish and Christian scripture with no accusation of textual corruption.

It is saddening to see that modern Muslims spread lies about the Old and New Testament at the expense of the clear statements and commandments in the Koran. How can we expect them to be honest people and believe in the Bible whilst they only pretend to believe in the Koran, some verses of which they deliberately pervert or ignore? đŸ€·

So you mean that Mohammad acted as God and followed his own choice for the direction of prayers? Thanks for the confession that Islam is a man-made ideology created by Mohammad himself with nothing from above! 😉
**Angelos, have a heart which can feel good things. Muhammad was a genious. He started the prayer system. In the prayer was the recitation of the verses of the Quran. So people memorised the Quran and recited it many times openly before all loudly so every one could hear it. The prophet could hear it too.

So if there was any mistake, it could be corrected. All recited the correct words.

Then the prophet had a Qiblah, a direction to face during prayers. That was the sacred house in jerusalem in the beginning for about 14 years. But there was a direction for every muslim to face during prayers. Did he know that his religion will spread in the world, all over the world and people will need some direction to face for prayers.

Peopel have mosques. They need direction. People pray at home. They need direction. If Muhammad had no guidance / revelation from God,how could he know that all these things will be need for a long time?

If there was no direction then peopel will fight to set the direction of every mosque in cities and villages. People in the same house would stand up for prayers, all facing in difefrent directions in the same house, sme room. father will be facing west. Daughter will be facing east. Can you imagine that Prophet knew all these problems of the future. Is it less than a miracle?**

It is rather weird to hear such an allegation from you, a member of the Ahmadiyya movement, who uses a different version of the Koran devised through perversion for the support and confirmation of your peculiar doctrines.
**

What is your point? Please be clear and specific.

What does this example prove? How is it possible to mislead people with the help of that verse? Please be clear.
**
There is no such thing in the Quran in the last 1400 years.**
Yes. The Koran has been perfectly preserved with all its mistakes, logical fallacies, and textual variations since Othman’s revision of the text. Omar was the one to tamper with every Koran verse during his reign of 10 years. 😉

Now you are denying your previous statement that Mohammad chose Jerusalem as the first direction of prayer all by himself! If God had revealed to him His verses and given him guidance, Mohammad would not have made personal choices for the Qiblah without God’s consent and/or permission, and God would not have needed to change the direction.

Which one is true? Was Jerusalem chosen by God or Mohammad? If by God, why did God change it afterwards? Please decide.

What difference does it make which way we face when we pray? If you consider that a miracle, you haven’t the faintest idea of what a real miracle is any more than the Muslim who claims to have found the words “Allah” and "Muhammad in a rotten mango, unless it goes to prove that “by their fruits you will know them”!

I am repeating that BOTH you and the Koran are wrong because the Koran confirms the Jewish and Christian scripture despite the fact that the Bible proves the Koran a fabrication. Muslims are wrong because they deny the clear statements in the Koran with regard to the authenticity of the Bible. You are condemned to a paradox. You are in manifest error no matter which of the two ways you choose 😃
**
Thanks angelos for reading Quran without understanding. Please note that the same Quran which confirms the earlier revelations has got clear verses telling the world that the Jewish and christian scribes played hell with the words of God. This is a lie. The Koran never endorses the modern Islamic theory that there was a worldwide corruption of the Jewish and Christian scripture. The Koran only accuses SOME Jewish groups of Mohammad’s time for distorting the Torah through misinterpretation and oral modifications (only in the Medina period for some political reasons!). Nevertheless, no Koran verse even implies that the original Torah was lost or replaced with a fake copy.
**
So we Muslims have been told by the same Quran about the good works of your scribes. It is all there in the Quran. Please read those verses also. Do not just read those verses which confirm the grant of books to Moses and Jesus.**
The Koran never mentions Jewish or Christian scribes. You must be daydreaming or reading a distorted Koran version to bring up this assertion. In sharp contrast to what you claim, the Koran teaches that the Jewish Rabbis had authority to deliver sound judgments with the help of the Torah in the same way as the prophets:

Surah 5:44
Lo! We did reveal the Torah, wherein is guidance and a light, by which the prophets who surrendered (unto Allah) judged the Jews, and the rabbis and the priests (judged) by such of Allah’s Scripture as they were bidden to observe, and thereunto were they witnesses.

amazing.

May be Angelos or any Catholic who is an expert in Jewish theology can answer my question.

No, I don’t want you to quote from Prof. Israel Shahak or any other so-called “self-hating Jew”'s books/sayings. If you know Talmud, please quote directly with the references
Thanks**
Dear Analyzer,
I had to rest in bed for the last couple of days because of severe pain. Now that i am here

Let me have you know that the Talmud is a controversial piece of work that is not accepted by mainstream Judaism. It espouses excessive legalism, strained understanding, unhistoric content and superstitious beliefs.
[ Both Pablo Christiani and Geronimo de Santa FĂ©,
At the disputation of Tortosa in 1413, Geronimo de Santa FĂ© brought forward a number of accusations, including the fateful assertion that the condemnations of “pagans,” “heathens,” and “apostates” found in the Talmud were in reality veiled references to Christians.
These assertion were denied by the Jewish community and its scholars, who contended that Judaic thought made a sharp distinction between those classified as heathen or pagan, being polytheistic, and those who acknowledge one true God (such as the Christians) even while worshipping the true monotheistic God incorrectly.****Thus, Jews viewed Christians as misguided and in error, but not among the “heathens” or “pagans” discussed in the Talmud. **** in addition to criticizing the Talmud, also regarded it as a source of authentic traditions some of which could be used as arguments in favour of Christianity. Examples of such traditions were statements that the Messiah was born around the time of the destruction of the Temple, and that the Messiah sat at the right hand of God.](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talmud) However controversial the Talmud maybe to a Christian, its contents are purely assumptive truth concerning the historicity of Christianity. It is no different of the Qur’an in this sense. But despite differences, Orthodox Jews are making better progress with Rabbis than they are with the Muftis of Islam.

I can bring up far worse quotes from your “unauthentic” Hadiths which refers to Christians and Jews “apes and pigs”.

Salaam/peace
Quran is words of God Almighty --came to the last Prophet ( pbuh) through Angel Jibril / Gabriel (p).

To save the holy words of God free from corruption , Muslims memorised those & wrote down since the beginning. There is no human author of holy Quran. No human being added or deleted even any single word from that holy book.

Several times not only words but many verses were deleted , added , again deleted from Bible . Ask any Bible scholar.
The Qu’ran was penned more than 600 years after Christianity, and thousands of years after Judaism and Zoroastrianism. It even incorporates Gnostic Christian teachings, which mainstream Christianity denounced!

It’s odd that God would wait such a drastically long time to correct errors of his teaching, courtesy of human failure. Don’t you think?

"Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani
"

We don’t “blame” anyone for the different languages of Bible the because we don’t consider that a problem.
**Incidentally, your quote “Eloi, Eloi
” reminds me an another dilemma in your Gospels.

As per Mark, Jesus, when on the cross cried out the words “My God, My God why have you forsaken me” in Aramaic:

Mark 15: 34 (New American Bible ) **
And at three o’clock Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” 14 which is translated, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

The footnote clarifies:

14 [34] An Aramaic rendering of ⇒ Psalm 22:2. See also the note on ⇒ Matthew 27:46.

vatican.va/archive/ENG0839/__PWH.HTM#-3GY

But according to Matthew, the Word for “My God” seems cried out in Hebrew. Which one is a true statement?

Did Jesus cry to his God in Aramaic with the words “Eloi, Eloi” or in Hebrew by calling:“Eli, Eli” ?

If Matthew and Mark both were really inspired by the Holy Ghost, then howcome Holy Ghost did not even inspire correctly the last words of your God (Jesus), let alone other unimportant stuff such Jesus riding on a donkey
ecc.?

Matthew 27:46
And about three o’clock Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” 28 which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

Footnote: 28 [46] Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?: Jesus cries out in the words of Psalm 22:2, a psalm of lament that is the Old Testament passage most frequently drawn upon in this narrative. In Mark the verse is cited entirely in Aramaic, which Matthew partially retains but changes the invocation of God to the Hebrew Eli, possibly because that is more easily related to the statement of the following verse about Jesus’ calling for Elijah.

vatican.va/archive/ENG0839/__PW0.HTM

If you still; insist that Mark and Matthew were indeed inspired by Holy Ghost, then:
  • The scribes of your Bibles altered the text, on a so many copies that made the translators of your Bibles to pass on that alteration even into Latin or English.
Or,
  • the authors of so-called Mark and Matthew’s gospels were not really inspired by the Holy Ghost as such they made so many errors/mistakes that cause clearly evident inconsistencies and contradictions.
And another funny thing in the same chapter Mark 15 is, the verse # 28 is not published in it, in the main text in the New American Bible. The number is there but the text is NOT THERE. Why?
incidentally, the footnote of an UNPUBLISHED/DISAPPEARED verse says that:

12 [28] This verse, "And the scripture was fulfilled that says, "And he was counted among the wicked,’ " is omitted in the earliest and best manuscripts. It contains a citation from ⇒ Isaiah 53:12 and was probably introduced from ⇒ Luke 22:37.

Wow!..an another DELIBERATE OMISSION.

Warning: While responding to the issue at hand in this post, please don’t bring Pslam 21 of DR Bible or Pslam 22 of NAB into the discuttion. If you do, then

Was Jerusalem chosen by God or Mohammad? If by God, why did God change it afterwards?
The fools among the people will say:
What has turned them from their qiblah which they had?

Say: The East and the West belong only to Allah; He guides whom He likes to the right path
