Can Catholics be Democrats?

Read “None Dare Call It Treason” by John A. Stormer.

He also wrote a follow-up version … " - 25 Years Later".

They are both available from Amazon.

Do not dismiss so casually the International Communist Conspiracy.

And the Democrats are in it up to their eyeballs.

Since then there has been a 180 paradigm shift of the Parties
The parties then are not the same parties now.
Largely in part due to George C Wallace of Alabama.

The Republican Party prior to George C Wallace was for all intentional purposes was the Liberal Party. The party that fought for Liberal ideals such as Women’s Rights and giving Blacks the right to vote, etc.

It is convenient for the Modern Day Republican to ignore it’s own history and what part it played in the PROGRESSIVE FIGHT.

This is actually very true.

since neither party is going to ban abortion, I no longer consider that a relevant issue to vote on.
That’s a lie.
How would you know if it is a lie? The poster was making a statement about what he considers a relevant issue to vote on. Short of reading his mind, how would you know what he considers when he votes?

How would you know if it is a lie?
Because it is a lie whether the poster knows it or not. Not only is it not hopeless like they claim, but ‘hopelessness’ even if true, does not give Catholics the green light to vote for this stuff especially when it concerns the mass murder of the most innocent in their mothers wombs. We have to try even if it may appear hopeless. Voting for someone like Clinton and the Democrats, who not only consider abortion a right worth protecting, but something to be expanded upon and funded, is not trying, it’s not the ‘lesser of two evils’ and it’s not Catholic.

God Bless

Thank you for reading.

Progressivism is a far left political philosophy.

Read “None Dare Call It Treason” by John A. Stormer.

What items of the Republican Party would you consider progressivism?

The far left espouses high welfare payments and as a result controls the cities in the United States.

The Republican Party was founded to abolish slavery.

The Democratic Party supported slavery.

The Democratic Party supports abortion.

The KKK was the military and terrorist wing … opposed to blacks, Jews and Catholics … of the Democratic Party.

I doubt he ever voted for abortion. That has never appeared on any ballot I have seen. In any case, what a Catholic should or should not do, does not change what a Catholic does or does not do. He said he did not consider it. You said he was lying. It is also true that dealing with Democrats, or just non-Republicans does not give Catholics the green light to bandy accusations.

I doubt he ever voted for abortion.
Not just him, but other posters defending the Democrats, I really hope so.

And not just abortion, but euthanasia and same sex marriage too.
That has never appeared on any ballot I have seen.
I think this is a cop out to be honest.

I can’t refute this with certainty, but I’m sure we are all not that naïve when it comes to what’s on the ballot. There is a margin or error involved due to deception and dishonest politics, but when it comes to Clinton and the Democrats, to think abortion, euthanasia and same sex marriage (all non negotiable as Catholics) are not on the ballot is very, very naïve IMO.

Like I said, I suspect they are really not voting for the lesser of two evils when Catholics vote for someone like Clinton or the Democrats, can’t prove it though and only they themselves know, I can be fooled, but God can’t.

God Bless

Thank you for reading

It is data. One should not ignore data. This is why the Church teaches a little differently that Republicans do. I guess it is time to post this again.

Then please, by all means do not usurp Him. Accusations need to be tempered by our own humanity. Humility is the footstool of charity in political discussions.

As far as what you said about the lesser of two evils is why many cannot vote for either major party every election.

If your referring to an apparent reduction in abortions that posters like @JoshuaIsLord have quoted, then with all due respect, you need to stop and open your eyes.

Nobody provides funding to, subsidizes and makes more widely available something they wish to reduce, that’s nonsensical.

God Bless

Progressivism is a far left political philosophy.
“Progressivism” is sorta like “socialism” in that it can mean different things in different contexts and probably gets tossed around too much.

But philosophically, it is the “Idea of Progress”.

As JoshuaIsLord rightly pointed out, the republicans were the progressive party until roughly the time of George Wallace. After that, we saw the American south begin its slide from being “blue” states to being “red” states, while remaining conservative the entire time. Southerners generally identify more with their conservatism than their stance on federalism vs. Anti-federalism. So when the dems and reps switched on who was the more socially conservative party, the south went with them.
Read “None Dare Call It Treason” by John A. Stormer.
Make your argument or don’t. Asking someone to devote hours to reading a book in order to help you make your argument is completely ludicrous.
The far left espouses high welfare payments and as a result controls the cities in the United States.
No, the “far left” controls most cities because “limited government” doesn’t work when you have millions of people stacked on top of each other. You need more rules to govern interactions. When you live in Montana and your closest neighbor is 2 miles away, you don’t need as many rules, so you’re more likely to be a Republican.
The Republican Party was founded to abolish slavery.
Abolitionists were a big part of their origin, sure. But their popularity came from it being the go-to haven for Whigs when their party failed.
The Democratic Party supported slavery.
Sure. Many, if not most, of their leaders were southerners at that time in American history.
The Democratic Party supports abortion.
All the dems I know don’t “support abortion”. They’re saddened by it.
They support the right of a woman to have one if she so chooses.
The KKK was the military and terrorist wing
And now they’re all republicans, for the most part.

You can have them.

true as pertains to you but has it ever appeared on local initiatives? like the SSM issue being voted on in australia.

but to the point. you aren’t voting for a person but on what you expected the person to do: on their stand on the issues.

a single issue abortion voter is in fact voting for or against abortion.

have those that say it doesn’t matter really thought through the choice they made?

if hillary put her judges on the scotus it would truly not matter: abortion would be here for decades to come.

with trump putting anti-abortion people on the bench we may one day see it kicked back to the states where it will not be done away with but may be greatly restricted

it does matter.

I guess you can put me down for progress, though I am not “left”. I think by the very definition of the word, “Make America Great Again” is a progressive idea, in that it want something better.

The Democrats were so pro-slavery and so anti-black and anti-Jewish and anti-Catholic that they were easy pickings when Marxists came to the United States after the European “wars” of the mid-1800’s.

So, the Democratic party gradually embraced Marxism and socialism and that’s where it is today.

Generally today those extreme leftists in American politics caucus with the Democrats [or ARE Democrats].

I repeatedly mention “None Dare Call It Treason” because in it John A. Stormer documents how that transformation of the Democrats from pro-slave party to pro-socialist party.

When socialist and communist titles fell out of favor, they changed their descriptor to “progressive”.

Please do the reading.

And if YOU are not interested in learning but want to just throw insults, then my recommendations for John A. Stormer’s books and other authors’ books are intended for other posters who choose to participate in these debates and discussion.

Rewrite the Democratic Party platform to remove the option to choose abortion.

Perhaps instead of ‘poo poos global warming’ you could write ‘sensibly challenges the impending disaster rhetoric on scientific grounds’.

Instead of saying ‘denies access to the poor’ you can say recognises that somebody has to always be paying for health care and questioning the viability of a health system where this reality is not recognised.

How do you reconcile Republicans giving more in charity and in volunteer time to the poor with the idea they want to deny health access to the poor? Perhaps there is more that you are not realising?

As with many who have come across from the Left hand side of politics I realise there is a great evil on that side of politics that is covered up with falsehoods. Whether it be the racist, slavery supporting Ku Klux Klan founding Democratic Party making Republicans out as the racists or the Socialist academics telling us that Hitler’s socialists Party and Marxist Mussolini’s Party were really somehow right wing there is a lot of evil deception coming from that side of politics. It is wrapped up in victim politics with an incorrect view of history, a right to thieve others wealth through the state and a lack of recognition on the terrible results such thinking has already produced. No, the left hand side of politics is not moral, but they are very good at telling each other that they are and ignoring the irrationality of that.

None Dare Call It Treason
In 1865 when the Republicans pushed through the anti slavery bill in the house voting in favour by 100% the NORTHERN democrats only supported abolishing slavery by 23%. The Democrats fought for slavery, fought against Republican amendments for negro rights for 100 years before the civil rights movement.

Progress is seen to be different things by different people. The Republicans were willing to fight against slavery because all should be equal under the law irrespective of race. This is the exact same principle the party still fights in it’s opposition to race based quotas, what is called ‘affirmative action’ and the taking of wealth off certain people to be given to other people because of their race. The Democrats are still the party who wants to categorise and favour people by race. "They call that Progressive, the Party with the greater moral history on it’s side (the Republicans) call it racist, as do I.

Progressives are people taking us backwards. Hitler’s socialists were Progressive.

And that is called Liberal and Progressive. A rose by any other name is still a rose…

We are in the here and now.

The Modern Day Republicans contain the filth of Southern Racists, White Supremacists, Neo Nazis, and the KKK. You can never ignore that fact.

Well, we have a contradiction right there. By definition, a lie is an untruth that is stated with full knowledge that is an untruth. It is impossible to “tell a lie” and not know it. The most you can say is that the poster believes in something that is incorrect.
