Can Catholics be Democrats?

I can’t refute this with certainty, but I’m sure we are all not that naïve when it comes to what’s on the ballot. There is a margin or error involved due to deception and dishonest politics, but when it comes to Clinton and the Democrats, to think abortion, euthanasia and same sex marriage (all non negotiable as Catholics) are not on the ballot is very, very naïve IMO.

Like I said, I suspect they are really not voting for the lesser of two evils when Catholics vote for someone like Clinton or the Democrats, can’t prove it though and only they themselves know, I can be fooled, but God can’t.

God Bless

Thank you for reading
To say that these issues are “on the ballot” through the candidates mentioned implies that these are the issues on which these candidates will spend the bulk of their time and effort. That, I think, is an unwarranted assumption. While Clinton was in favor of abortion rights, it was not the biggest part of her efforts. How much a difference did she make in abortion policy? Similarly, one can ask how much a difference Trump has made, or is likely to make, in abortion policy. It may be too soon to tell, but so far all we have is Neil Gorsuch, who has not yet made any difference in abortion policy, we don’t know if he ever will.

By ignoring the likely effect of electing various candidates and focusing only on their nominal positions on selected issues gives a distorted view of what voting for those candidates really supports.

The Democrats were so pro-slavery and so anti-black and anti-Jewish and anti-Catholic that they were easy pickings when Marxists came to the United States after the European “wars” of the mid-1800’s.
I sincerely apologize for the actions of men who have been dead for a century and a half.

There. Feel better?

I’m still a democrat.
I repeatedly mention “None Dare Call It Treason” because…
We all know it’s one of your favorite conspiracies. You needn’t elaborate.
When socialist and communist titles fell out of favor, they changed their descriptor to “progressive”.
Please do the reading.
As the American Progressive Movement dates to the 1890 (a period when most Americans had never even heard of “communism”), your reading on this issue is revealed to be rather one-sided…
And if YOU are not interested in learning but want to just throw insults…
None thrown at anyone personally, so please don’t say so.

Suggesting that someone “Read this! You’ll see!” assumes that they should care enough about your argument to spend their time reading and proving it for you.

They’re not going to; much to the chagrin of Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses worldwide.
Rewrite the Democratic Party platform to remove the option to choose abortion.
I would if I could. Really.

I’m still on-board with the dems a lot more than I’m on-board with the reps; 150 year old grievances notwithstanding. 😀

The Modern Day Republicans contain the filth of Southern Racists, White Supremacists, Neo Nazis, and the KKK. You can never ignore that fact.
neither side is squeaky clean.

the left has anti-fa. a communist inspired organization. things really haven’t changed.

clowns to the left, jokers to the right, here i am stuck in the middle…

at the top both worship wall street and their own personal wealth growth more than yours or mine.

we would not even have that if hillary won. the abortion issue would have been locked up for decades.

at least now and especially if trump gets one more pick we can hopefully kick it back to the states. where there are many willing to reduce abortions even more.

will it ever happen maybe not but at least we have hope. we would be hopeless under hillary.

Do you even know what anti-fa means?
The Antifa movement is a conglomeration of autonomous, self-styled anti-fascist groups in the United States Antifa (United States) - Wikipedia
Fascism is a form of radical authoritarian nationalism, characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition and control of industry and commerce that came to prominence in early 20th-century Europe. The first fascist movements emerged in Italy during World War I before it spread to other European countries. Opposed to liberalism, Marxism and anarchism, fascism is usually placed on the far-right within the traditional left–right spectrum. Fascists believe that liberal democracy is obsolete and they regard the complete mobilization of society under a totalitarian one-party state as necessary to prepare a nation for armed conflict and to respond effectively to economic difficulties Such a state is led by a strong leader—such as a dictator and a martial government composed of the members of the governing fascist party—to forge national unity and maintain a stable and orderly society Fascism rejects assertions that violence is automatically negative in nature and views political violence, war and imperialism as means that can achieve national rejuvenation Fascists advocate a mixed economy, with the principal goal of achieving autarky through protectionist and interventionist economic policies. Fascism - Wikipedia
Nazi Germany -Nazi Germany is the common English name for the period in German history from 1933 to 1945, when Germany was governed by a dictatorship under the control of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party (NSDAP). Under Hitler’s rule, Germany was transformed into a totalitarian state in which the Nazi Party controlled nearly all aspects of life.Nazi Germany - Wikipedia
Those that complain about antifa, have no clue what Fascism and Nazi Germany is about.

yes, it had it start in ww2 germany as a communist organization and still has communist connections but allows others in. look at the rallies and you will see the hammer and sickle. look at the flags of both organizations. it went underground but received new life when the left lost to trump.

Militant anti-fascism dates back to the 1920s, when anti-fascists were involved in battles against Benito Mussolini’s Blackshirts, Adolf Hitler’s Brownshirts, Francisco Franco’s nationalist army, Oswald Mosley’s British Union of Fascists and American pro-Nazi organizations such as the Friends of New Germany. Although there is no organizational connection, the lineage of antifa in America can be traced to Weimar Germany, where the first group described as “Antifa” was Antifaschistische Aktion, formed in 1932 with the involvement of the Communist Party of Germany.[17] Antifaschistische Aktion’s two-flag logo, as well as the three arrow anti-fascist circle used by the Social Democrats led Iron Front (which was formed in 1931 by Social Democrats), are the most commonly used symbols of contemporary U.S. antifa activists

Good article on whether Nazi Germany was socialist or fascists:

Above all, the Nazis were German white nationalists. What they stood for was the ascendancy of the “Aryan” race and the German nation, by any means necessary. Despite co-opting the name, some of the rhetoric, and even some of the precepts of socialism, Hitler and party did so with utter cynicism, and with vastly different goals. The claim that the Nazis actually were leftists or socialists in any generally accepted sense of those terms flies in the face of historical

reality.FACT CHECK: Were Nazis Socialists?

Synopsis
The government of Nazi Germany was a fascist, totalitarian state. Totalitarian regimes, in contrast to a dictatorship, establish complete political, social, and cultural control over their subjects, and are usually headed by a charismatic leader. Fascism is a form of right-wing totalitarianism which emphasizes the subordination of the individual to advance the interests of the state. Nazi fascism’s ideology included a racial theory which denigrated “non-Aryans,” extreme nationalism which called for the unification of all German-speaking peoples, the use of private paramilitary organizations to stifle dissent and terrorize opposition, and the centralization of decision-making by, and loyalty to, a single leader.
And that is where I believe Trump wants to head this great country of ours to.

Still, a lot of assumption on probabilities. Not everyone assesses these probabilities the same.

Illinois’s Dick Durbin tried to persuade Gorsuch to reveal his abortion views by quoting the judge’s book on euthanasia, in which he said “the intentional taking of human life by private persons is always wrong.” Conservatives have interpreted that line as a signal of Gorsuch’s supposed anti-abortion beliefs.

“How could you square that statement with legal abortion?” Durbin asked him. “Senator, as the book explains, the Supreme Court of the United States has held in Roe v. Wade that a fetus is not a person for purposes of the Fourteenth Amendment, and the book explains that,” Gorsuch replied.

Do you accept that?” Durbin asked. “That’s the law of the land,” Gorsuch answered. “I accept the law of the land, senator, yes.”

you really think he wants a strong federal government? he seems to be taking that government apart more than unifying it into his own little kingdom.

how do you see him subordinating the individual to advance the state?

You don’t need a strong federal government to implement a fascist/totalitarian government. All you need is strong and obedient Military. You can simultaneously take the government apart while building up the military. Along the same lines that Hitler did.

How was it done in George Orwell’s 1984? I have not read the book yet myself, but it is own the bucket list literally.

Just a simple google search on “trump and 1984 similarities” yields interesting articles.

Here is one for starters:
