Can demons kill you?

Indirectly at least - and they can hurt you spiritually ONLY IF - you give into Temptation to Sin

That said, they’ve ZERO POWER over the dispostion of your SOUL

You must come to SEE how “Fear of God - Is the Beginning of Wisdom”

It’s not afraidness as in the Fear of Death -

Rather it’s the Heart-Mind to God - of the Supreme AWE and RESPECT naturally Due to Him

That said… Yes. Pray to God for Fortitude / Courage / also a Gift of God’s Holy Spirit

We do not think God permits demons to murder people. So I am inclined to think this part of the story is an edifying narrative. Same when Raphael says ‘I am Azariah son of Hananiah the elder’. Angels cannot lie.
 
Surprisingly, this actually does make me more confident. I think yes it is the fear of demons and such, but also the feeling of unknown. But I’m going to pray to St Michael and Mary to protect me from these things. Thank you all!!

Look, I know that everyone is trying to find out the actual truth about this but it’s ok, something that I really needed to hear was that nothing can happen unless God wills it and the fact that St Michael and Our Lady will always be there for me
 
Demons actually physically harming people is not normal. It’s something we should expect not to happen with an extremely high degree of certainty; higher than we can be certain that we won’t get struck by lightning on a clear day. God almost never allows it to happen.
 
Yes it was a good post. I still do not believe we should upplay this topic, as the Padre Pios amongst us are very rare, and we should not be contributing to another’s fear.

People don’t talk like that in everyday conversations.

If somebody has a fear of flying and is worried that the airplane is going to crash, you can simply tell them that the plane won’t crash. You don’t need to tell them that you’re not metaphysically 100.00% certain that the plane won’t crash, or you don’t need to tell your child that you’re not 100.00% certain that somebody didn’t sneak under the bed.

Can a demon kill you? I have read a number of books on exorcism. Never has a demon killed someone.
Can a demon hurt you? Demons have physically hurt someone but this is very rare, so I wouldn’t worry about it. I wouldn’t think they would want to do it, because they would be openly revealing their existence, when so many don’t believe in them, think of them, or feel any concern, even if the person theoretically believes they do–or may–exist.

As a survivor of a physical demonic attack the answer is yes, a demon can kill. While the demon did not physically hurt me, it did try to smother my wife one morning and she had a hard time breathing. But that is not the usual way a demon will kill a person. Demons are fallen angels, smart and very cunning. The way they really kill is not the ways scary movies portray, but they do kill in a more subtle way.

It is through oppression, obsession, and possession that the damage is done. The demons don’t have to pull the trigger to kill, they can make the person they want dead do it with other methods, including temptations that could lead to death, such as drugs or diseases. They can induce thoughts that can lead to bad decisions or suicide. And it doesn’t have to be a single one time quick event that screams murder, it is usually a prolonged attack that manifests over time. As I mentioned, they are intellegent and cunning. They don’t want to make the 5 o’clock news.

When this happens who is screaming someone was killed by a demon? Ninety nine percent will just chalk it up to bad behaviors or mental illness and never even take a glimpse into the beginning roots of the evil.

If you want a good example, look no further than Judas. It was a demon, Satan, that entered into him and led him to do the things that led to his death. The demon did not put the rope around his neck, but the demon did kill him.

The bottom line, demons do indeed kill.
 
God is all powerful. They are under God. They can do nothing without Gods permission. Remember Jesus said do not be afraid? He wasn’t joking. This phrase appears 365 times in the bible. He also said he would not leave us, so there is a good reason not to be afraid. If you still feel afraid call out to him and ask him to shelter you in his Sacred heart. He will do, always.

As others say speak to your priest about your fears. In the mean time remember Jesus is your sanctuary. Read Psalm 16 (or others) and it will help, even try learn it or some part of it to say when you feel sad or distressed or even just ‘Jesus I trust in you’. God bless

I was a victim of physical ( as well as spiritual) demonic attacks. As you know, as I do, is that being in the midst of demonic activity, and particularly being the victim of a physical attack is something that you’re never forget and haunts you for the rest of your life. In my other post I gave a very brief example of how the wrath of demons are can take on extreme characteristics. I know those situations are pretty rare, but they do happen. The scene in The Exorcist in which physical objects are levitated, hurled, and violently thrown at Regan’s mother are spot on and extremely accurate.

OK, a bit of reality here. First a demon can hurt you. Usually, they cannot do very much harm, but theoretically they could kill you…the most common things you hear about are scratches and the like. However, this is very very rare and if you are a good catholic, praying the rosary every day and going to mass every sunday and confession regularly, wearing scapulars and having holy water nearby, God will not allow them to touch you. They can tempt you, but not touch you. It’s when you break your connection with God through sin that you can become vulnerable.
I feel I must comment that demons attacking people is very very rare. Usually it is a psychological disorder of some kind that the person is suffering from. This is why it is imperative you talk to a priest if you feel you are getting oppressed, which is the most common type of attack. Stay up to date on the sacraments and keep holy water around, and talk to your priest. That is the best defense.
 
You are very right that it will be with us the rest of our lives. Those who have not been through it can never comprehend the evil and the torment. I know I will never get over it. I still would never wish it didn’t happen because it’s the only thing that was able to bring me and my wife to Christ. We are not to discuss private what we believe to be revelation or anything else like suspect diabolical. These things must be confirmed by the church. Has your experience ? What does your wife say, and has hers?

If not proven, they cannot be held up as any type of proof or example.

If not, the catholic church regards these as need to be thoroughly investigated and every other potential reason discounted.
 
Have I had an official Church investigation? The answer is no. But every priest I’ve told absolutely believes me, and even if they didn’t it does not change what happened. You have to understand, I’m in the Church because of what happened. And my wife who was raised without a faith, well, she is now a Catholic and not just any Catholic, but the inspiration to me and my faith. We are in this together, and for the rest of our lives we will have a target on our back as Satan desires to taunt us, and he desires to kill me. For those who have not and are not going thru so much will never understand. The Spiritual warfare is very very real, and I’ve made the commitment and I offer my life to help others who are under attack as well. I’m scared to death every day, but the Lord encourages me to fight back. None of the Saints who were attacked needed a Church investigation to confirm what they knew. Sometimes we have to just get the legality stuff away from us and accept reality. With tears in my eyes, and in trembling, I need your prayers, for strength, courage, and the safety of my wife and I.

Aquinas reasoned that pure spirits are capable of causing local motion in matter; but if we consider that stealth is a prime motive for the devil I’m guessing that any such causation would not be conspicuous or significant under controlled, observable conditions. In any case, we should not conclude that all preternatural events are from the angels or saints.

As others have said, in the the vast majority of cases what people believe to be demonic attack is actually physical or mental illness or has some other completely natural explanation. I completely agree with you that one should not and cannot self-diagnose. Unless it has been investigated by the Church, one should not assume their experience is extraordinary.
I’ve said it before and I will say it again, the thing to fear more (and by fear I don’t mean excessive, obsessive worry), is not demonic attack but rather mortal sin. Demons can physically hurt us, they can temp us to commit sin but they cannot force us to commit mortal sin. Mortal sin destroys life in the soul and unconfessed mortal sin can send us to hell.
Demons can do absolutely nothing without God’s permission. They are terrified of Our Lady. Our Lord has them on a very short leash. The best defense against demons is living a life of prayer, Sacrament and virtue.

Unless and until these things are confirmed by the Church they are suspect for several origins. That is what we believe as Catholics in the Catholic Church.

Listening to exorcists and the example of Jesus in His temptation in Scripture, the diabolical are sticklers for the law of God. That means down to what we attribute to demonic attack or not.

I agree totally with your last sentence.

Your case , as stated , not being authenticated by the Church, CAF has rules we are not allowed to discuss any case of alleged Apparition or the diabolic not Church approved. An example of this is we cannot discuss the alleged Apparitions of medjugorge.
