Can non-Catholics explain what the Rosary focuses on?

Worshipping and praising God and anything else He wants us to do.😉
And you think he won’t want us to help our fellow members of the Body of Christ who are still on Earth? Don’t be ridiculous!

What do you imagine we will be doing when we get to Heaven, if not praying?
Worshipping and praising God and anything else He wants us to do.😉
What do you think praising God is but praying. 😃 Worshipping is a different story but we do consider the Mass thee most powerful Prayer in the Catholic Faith because we are participating in the Worship of Heaven right here on earth.

The Rosary is right there too among powerful prayers. The Rosary is considered a powerful weapon for peace. And Peace starts in our hearts. Mary shows us the way of peace with her Rosary. She wants us to get to know Jesus in a way that no other creature knows Him. And who better than Mary. She was right there with Jesus until He died and rose and then ascended into Heaven. She was there in all the pivotal points of the life of Jesus Christ! :yup: And she is right there with Jesus right now in Heaven.

At the end of the Rosary prayer, which is meditation on the life of Jesus Christ, we recite this prayer;

Let us pray

O God, whose only-begotten Son,
by his life, death and resurrection,
has purchased for us the rewards
of eternal life, grant, we beseech Thee,
that meditating upon these mysteries
of the Most Holy Rosary
of the Blessed Virgin Mary,
we may imitate what they contain
and obtain what they promise
,
through the same Christ our Lord.
Amen.

“What they contain” is not just a bunch of Hail Mary’s and Our Father’s. Instead “what they contain” is actually the Life of Jesus Christ and what He did for us and how He lived His “human” life here on earth. We have to imitate Jesus Christ.

Can’t get any more Christian than that! 👍

My child and I are making rosaries right now. I registered with the Rosary Army. They make rosaries and distribute them. But they also need our help. So when someone requests a rosary, they also get some twine and instructions to make one. They do this in the hopes of recruiting one more Rosary Army Soldier! 👍 So all you Catholics (and non-Catholic Christians who pray the Rosary) can register and even donate. They are running a fund raiser right now and need our help.

They have a podcast radio program too. :yup:

You can even order their DVD with a talk on the Rosary and how you can better meditate on the Mysteries, a little history on the rosary and also has special feature with video instructions on how to make one.

You can view instructions right online too. You can hear part of the DVD as an audio right from the website. All Catholics should hear this, it’s good! 🙂 It won’t hurt if all non-Catholic Christians heard this also! 👍

Peace and God bless. :gopray:

Eat pizzas? Then? Go toilet? Do you expect to find toilets up there?

Goodness, if there is, whatever you release up there will fall down right on the head of Loginus and his muslim friends down below. 👍

I would hope I didn’t get anyone, only those birds that get me sometimes 😦

I’m an Anglican and have been praying the rosary longer than I’ve been going to church. It’s the thing that’s missing from protestant christianity… a safe pathway to contemplation of God.

As the flip side to this. I talk to Catholics, who’ve Never prayed the rosary while meditating on the mysteries, sure they’ve prayed the words, but they never meditated on the mysteries. The mysteries are what make the whole thing work.

By praying the rosary I’ve gained freedom from persistent vices which no one has ever told me another way to quit. I’m talking swearing, anger, abusive language.

Sometime I pray the rosay with just paternosters I do this to escape from an addiction process which torments me relentlessly.

The proof is in the pudding and the rosary works. I know my sins are forgiven by the grace of God, but I’m still going to try not to sin.

Being heaven of course you won’t get fat or spotty no matter how much you eat 🙂 … and the pizza will be goooooooooood … :yup:
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm yeah

with extra everything

Then we KNOW without a doubt that the saints in heaven are praying for us since scripture is quite clear that the body of Christ should pray for one another.

Clearly since Our God is The God of the living, and nothing can separate us from Christ, even death, the living saints in heaven will be praying for us and worshipping God just as we do on earth only more perfectly.

I was thinking about this today. I do not understand why Baptists especially do not have a good understanding about the body of Christ. They firmly believe in once saved always saved. Always part of the Body of Christ. Yet so firmly cut off the arms and legs from the hands and feet. Somehow when someone dies, Christ suddenly springs a new body. A body for those living in heaven and a body for those living on earth.

We do have different bodies. In heaven we have glorified bodies. On earth we have carnal bodies, for we know human flesh cannot enter into the kingdom of heaven…(1Corinth 15;44)

Tell me about it! You know who opened up my eyes and mind to the understanding of the afterlife for the believer before I became Catholic? It was C.S. Lewis. He had such a beautiful grasp on Christ’s Body and our being a very real part of it, not just a fantasy or some etherial talk that didn’t mean anything, but a reality more real than anything we know. And I had never been exposed to anything so deep and yet so simple in my whole Christian life.

I belong to Christ’s Body and I will not cease to belong to it when I pass on to the other side. And my place in it will still be as active, if not more active, than it is now. I find it very exciting and wonderful! To live your whole earthly life as a Christian and to not see this, the logic and the beauty of it, is just the saddest thing. 😦

Gareth-

What a great inspirational post! I have heard many people tell of the power of the Rosary to help them overcome moral struggles and addictions, and I am very happy for you that it has helped you in your struggles as well. I need to take this to heart myself as I struggle with things in my life that so far I have not received the grace to overcome yet, maybe someone is trying to tell me something? 🙂

God Bless!

I think you are missing Maria’s point. She’s talking about Christ’s Body, not our individual bodies. We are members of One Body, as St. Paul said. One Body. Not one on earth and one in heaven, but One Body, period. We never cease being members of that Body, even when we pass on. We remain in that One Body.

Oh wow, I love it!! :clapping: I love to hear that other Christians pray the Rosary too. :yup:

Yes they are what makes the whole thing work. :yup: And I can relate as to only praying the words. 😦 A long time ago, no one told me about the mysteries. I would see pictures but no one told me what they were for as far as the rosary. Poor Catechesis and poor Catholic education is at fault here. My child told me that they would pray the rosary in first grade but the teacher would not tell them about the mysteries and they only did like one decade, and this was not every day either. I took my child out of that Catholic school and now we homeschool and my child is now in seventh grade.

Yes 🙂 I know what you mean. The Rosary brings peace to your heart and that is why we should pray the Rosary for Peace in the world; after all, Peace starts in our hearts.

As a Catholic we also have something else to overcome bad language and that is the Divine Praises;

Blessed be God!
Blessed be his Holy Name!
Blessed be Jesus Christ, true God and true man!
Blessed be the Name of Jesus!
Blessed be his Most Sacred Heart!
Blessed be his Most Precious Blood!
Blessed be Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar!
Blessed be the Holy Spirit, the Paraclete!
Blessed be the great Mother of God, Mary most Holy!
Blessed be her holy and Immaculate Conception!
Blessed be her glorious Assumption!
Blessed be the name of Mary, Virgin and Mother!
Blessed be St. Joseph, her most chaste spouse!
Blessed be God in his Angles and his Saints!
The proof is in the pudding and the rosary works. I know my sins are forgiven by the grace of God, but I’m still going to try not to sin.
Yes it sure does work. And God pours graces on you accordingly. Yes we should strive to live a sin free life but we know that we are weak and we constantly sin. As a Catholic I know that my venial sins are still kicking at times. 😦 But I pray to stay away from mortal sin. Confession and receiving Jesus in Holy Communion along with the Rosary helps a lot with keeping mortal sin away.

That’s not a prayer. It’s called a psalm. Also known as a song or hymn. Where did you ever get the idea that was a prayer?
What do you think the psalms are if not prayers?
Just curious, do you believe Jesus died for ALL of our sins?
YES.
Or do you believe that water baptism washes away original sin?
Yes Baptism washes away Original Sin for infant baptizm. And if a convert comes in to the Catholic Church that has not been baptized, they can be baptized into the Catholic Church and with the Sacrament of Baptizm Original Sin is forgiven AND all their OWN sins are ALSO forgiven.

You were already baptized as an infant so your original sin was wiped clean. But let’s say you were never baptized and you want to come back to the Catholic Church, you would be baptized and then ALL your sins would be forgiven including Original Sin.

What did you think? That I was going to say that Baptizm ONLY washes away Original sin? Well you thought wrong.

That is it exactly. While we certainly will have our glorified bodies after death (through Christ and His cleansing blood applied after death through a state or place known as purgatory:) ), this is not the point. We do not cease being part of Christ’s One body.

There is not one body of Christ in which all those glorified in heaven are part of and another body of Christ in which those of us on earth are part of. We are all ONE Body of Christ. And death cannot separate us because Christ has defeated death.

…I’ll do what the Bible says. I am always open to reproof. The Bible says not to repeat and I obey it. Because if I hate reproof, the Bible says I shall die.
Hmmm that’s strange, your authority is a book? I know that “book” of which you speak is the bible but did you know that the Bible says that the pillar and foundation of truth is NOT the bible? If you want to “do what the bible says” then I would “breathe in” these words which are in the bible.

Pray to the Holy Spirit and let him guide you as you read the following passages from Sacred Scripture; :gopray:
15 But if I should be delayed, you should know
how to behave in the household of God, which
is the church of the living God, the pillar
and foundation
of truth. 1 Tim 3:15

I was going to put the rest of my posts in here but it was somewhat off topic. So I was going to start a new thread. But then I saw that the thread already exists. Except that I was going to name my thread, “You Obey the Bible Alone?” So there is the link to my posts in that thread.

Of course it can - Jesus arose bodily into Heaven. If He had acquired a different body, then His old one would have remained in the tomb.

The whole point of the empty tomb is to teach us that the whole person goes to Heaven - not only the spirit and/or soul.

St. Paul is telling us that our bodies will become glorified - not that we won’t have them.

Jesus body was incoruptable. Our bodies decay but our spiritual bodies rise up. Flesh and blood cannot enter into the kingdom of heaven.(1 Corinth 15;50)
