what you are doing is putting works before the Teachings of our Lord. dont you belief Jesus built One Church?
Huh? Jesus taught us to work with people. You know the poor, the hungry, the homeless, the sick, those in prison, those in need. Those ARE the Teachings of our Lord.

Is the gospel being preached in all the world? are the naked being clothed? are the hungry being fed? are the captives being set free? If yes then the gates of Hell have not prevailed!
Well Christians worldwide are working on those things. As Jesus taught what was right in Matt 25:35-46

yes Matt, i know. but what you are doing is trying to use this to be disobedient to the CC.

the CC and good work goes together. they dont go against each other.

you dont abandon the Teachings of the CC because you want to do the good works. you dont use these against the Church.

I think there are differing ideas about what should/does divide us. I have seen some on the Catholic side say I am excluded from Christ’s church if I dont take the proper sacraments presumably from a Catholic priest(please correct me if I have that wrong wisdomseeker) others on the extreme protestant side have said Catholics are excluded from Christ’s church because prayers to Mary are blasphamas(I hate it when my spelling is so bad that spell check cant figure out what Im trying to spell!😊). But there are those of us who believe that a perfect understanding of ALL truth is not what matters to the Lord and that there are certain essentials but primarily it is a heart condition that will be judged. If that is true then we are in fact brothers and sisters in Christ.
I don’t believe for a second you are excluded. Nor of course do I believe Catholics are not Christian. I fall closer to the part of your post which I highlighted.

i think he makes a good point. that is exactly what is happening in modern times. forget what Jesus tought and let’s do it our way.

let remind you Matt that Jesus did not build a cafeteria buffet where people go by picking the Teachings they like and leave what they dont feel is important. everything Jesus tought is equally important. we dont get to tell God what is important and what is not.

if Jesus built a Church, it is His Church not yours not mine. therefore everything the Church Teaches are equally important. we dont have the right neither the competency to decide what we should follow and what we should not follow. we only have the obligation to embrace all the Church teaches.

Wisdom, you have totally lost me. You asked Eric if he feels being with those who are in disobedience is more pleasing to God than being in obedience to Christ’s Church?

How is Eric, who is doing Christ’s work alongside other Christians, who are also doing Christ’s work, not pleasing God or how is it being disobedient? The CC now teaches Eric can’t hang out with other Christians as they do Christ’s work together?

Wisdom, no one is forgetting what Jesus clearly taught was necessary for righteousness.

Joe, you really did! 🙂 I would probably say though for those who believe symbolically, Christ is still truly present in at least His Spirit wherever they are. And if someone doesn’t even believe that much when they receive Communion, they probably still want to be receiving worthily by remembering the Sacrifice He made for all of us at the time they receive the Communion elements used in their church.

But you did give it your best shot! Peace my brother and friend in Christ!
He allowed Himself to be nailed to a cross so save people! He said it is His body and Blood! We do as He commanded us to do, we take it in rememberence of what He did for us. If He wants it to be literally transformed, transtubstansiated or discombobulated before it touches our lips IT WILL BE! and no power on earth could prevent it. If He only meant it to be symbolic then thats what it is. But the notion that He let spikes be driven through His wrists to then look down at His children taking communion and say nope they dont think Im literally in the cup so Im going to burn them for eternity, nope for them my agonizing death was in vein! REALLY???🤷

I want to be one, and pray with Jesus, that we may be one. (John 17) When it comes right down to it, it is the Protestant believers, yes, our “separated brethren,” who are adamantly against being one with Catholics. They are protesting the Catholic faith. Many don’t believe we are “saved,” according to their tradition.😦
there are those on both sides. thats why I changed my “religion” from Protestant to Evangelical Christian with a side of protestant, I didnt want to be cosidered so much anti-Catholic. there are some Catholic teachings that I will “protest” but not the church in general.

Matt,

if you knew that the CC teaches the Truth, you would know which one is lying. this is very important. we use judgement every day weather we know or not.

lies comes from satan and not from God. we should know where the lies are and where the Truth is. if the Body and Blood of Christ is important, really important, than we must know who is speaking the Truth, protestants who deny or CC who believes. one is the Truth and the other is a lie. which one do you want to believe? do you think that a lie is pleasing to God? remember, St Paul condemns those who lies.

If I put a coke in my fridge and when I leave the room my daughter helps herself to it without my knowing, then You drop by and I say there is a coke in the fridge, help yourself. Would you, upon opening the fridge and finding no coke presume to call me a lier?

I am a Catholic, and I should be as one with the Pope, but he is a thousand miles away, and he is not my neighbour, in my community. As such I feel I have a greater need to strive to be as one with my community despite all our differences.
It seems strange that the Pope living a thousand miles away, should be in a position to say, who I should be as one with in my community. I really do feel a blessing, being able to pray with people from other churches.

Every blessing Eric

The reply
so, you feel being wiht those who are in disobedience is more pleasing to God than being in obedience to Christ’s Church
***My thought:

My dear Catholic friend. Surely you must know that the CC does not in ANY WAY discourage friendship with other churches. Further, She [Mother Church] strongly advocates Charity in all its forms and applications with our seperated brethern. But this somehow seems insuficient for you. How very sad, and how very un-catholic that position is.:o

Don’t confuse charity, with an equality of beliefs. Don’t confuse friendship with faith-practices. Use your associations to bring truth to those who lack it, true love to those in need of it.👍

Love and prayers,

Pat

First, there arent many Truths, there is only One Truth. what is a protestant truth? what truth does protestant have that was not taking from the CC?

Truth # 1 there exists a God, that is a truth. truth # 2 I love my wife. shall I go on? there are many truths! Were protestant truths first held by the RCC, yes! Im ok with that.👍

many opinions indeed. it is like some are trying to create a whole new religion.

but Christ has given us A Church, One Church. the reason there are so much confusion is because opinions of men seem to be prevailing over the Word of God. being outside of that One Church, they are free to build churches based on their own opinions without an understanding of who God is and what He says. it seems that as time passes, people are more and more convinced that what they think that what jesus said it is more important than what Jesus in Truth spoke.
Because of what the Pope says that we can call others bretheren in Christ, people now have the tendency to desbelief everything else the CC teaches. it is the spirit of modernism ruling our minds and hearts instead of the Spirit of Christ.

So the Pope is wrong???

I want to make sure Im clear, I wasnt saying that I believe that Catholics are not Christians, I most certainly believe you are.

Sure we may be required to eat what the Lord serves but what we need not eat, Is what man tries to add to the plate.👍

Oh I know. You believe Catholics are Christians as I believe you are. You actually appear to believe I am a member of Christ’s body more so than some Catholics might appear to believe I am. 😃 Peace!

Dear Matt, we Catholics believe you are a member of Christ’s body, we simply believe, though, you are in error to think it is OK for us to be one big happy family when unity with the separated brethren has not yet been achieved. Trust God,for it to happen in his time, try not to jump ahead and do it for him because you think it should have happened yesterday.:p:)Peace, Carlan

Thanks Carlan. Matt 5:9 (GNT) Happy are those who work for peace;
God will call them his children! 🙂

I am not Matt but would like to say I believe that Chriet would have us all to be united. Do away with all the rules and regulations and be united in Christ’s love They will know we are Christians by our love. Would do more than preaching I am more right than you and I know better yhan you. Love one another and let God do the judging.👍
