If it’s so terrible on here, why do you read posts and interact on here?

No he didn’t say that.

What he said is, the way people present the teaching comes across cruel.
No, he didn’t say that.

What he said was the Church’s teaching that the homosexual inclination is objectively disordered is needlessly cruel.

What does that have to do with anything?
It has to do with your question:
May I ask why you find it difficult to believe?
Which bishops do you propose we “assent” to?
I don’t propose anything except an attempt to answer your question. I only read what the Roman Catholic Church teaches by way of papal encyclicals and the code of canon law. And according to “Lumen Gentium n. 25”. In matters of faith and morals, the bishops speak in the name of Christ and the faithful are to accept their teaching and adhere to it with a religious assent.

The pope and all clergy are to follow official catholic teaching and cannot teach anything contrary to it. They are the keepers of the Deposit of Faith. Anyone who teaches contrary to established official teaching is promoting heresy and should not be listened to. The clergy is called to correct one another when mistakes are made, with love in christian charity. Allegiance is to Christ and not to any human. The dubia Cardinals are called to correct Pope Francis - a formal correction will come soon I think.

Yes. It is. My Bishop is responsible for my soul, not some Bishop from some diocese 1000 miles away. That’s not to say what he has to say is not important, bit it would have no bearing on my day to day life as a Catholic.

I never said it was terrible in here, those are your words.

But you’re right. Why do I come here ?

Your question provided the answer, I won’t be back,

Jim

What happens when the bishop 1000 miles away is installed as your bishop? Will you be just as accepting of what he says as you are now of what your current bishop says?

Of course, because then he will be my Bishop. What gave you the idea I wouldn’t?
I never said the other Bishops didn’t have good things to say, just that the only 2 that really matter in my daily life are the Bishop of Rome and the Bishop of the diocese where I live.
