I see these as issues that affect our society. Why shouldn’t the church speak about these issues as well as others? What about war? There is no Church teaching that states that war is always wrong…it involves prudential judgment as well, no? Should Church leaders not speak up about whether to get involved in a particular war?Background checks already exist, millions are done every year. Laws already on the books need to be enforced more, not creating new laws too restrict the rights of law abiding citizens
I respect the Bishops highly but I do not understand why they comment on issues of prudential judgement like gun control, Paul’s Ryan’s budget, health care etc. It does not make sense to me. These are issues of prudedential judgement
