Cardinal Dolan: I wouldn't deny communion to Biden

He is Presbyterian believing in OSAS, so in line with their teaching. You continue to equate him as catholic.

I wonder how a Christian can take the position that he has never( in 70+ years) done anything he needs God’s forgiveness for.
So he has never had to ask for forgiveness for anything.
Every time I think about that belief it freaks me out.

“Do not give dogs what is holy, and do not throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them underfoot and turn to attack you.“

The church has always understood Jesus words as pertaining to the Eucharist. You will also find this in the didache.

Are Jesus’ words enough?

Donald Trump isn’t going to recieve the Eucharist and he needs a wake up call too. But Joe Biden isn’t getting any special treatment so there’s really no point.

Is someone offering Trump, a non-Catholic, the Holy Eucharist?

You are literally the only one who’s obsessing over Trump.

For the hundredth time, President Trump IS NOT CATHOLIC. He has no reason to come to Mass, and he would never be admitted to Holy Communion until/unless he converted. Quit bringing him up, or at least admit that you’re only upset because it was a democrat who was refused Holy Communion (at least for the sake of being honest with everyone else).

For all your talk of how we’re all “unworthy” when in reference to Joe Biden, but your constant (unprovoked) attacks on President Trump, I’m half wondering if we actually should invite him to Holy Communion. Since Canon Law can be disregarded, it seems, if it’s inconvenient, why not allow such a non-Catholic as President Trump to receive?

Or is Trump where you draw the line at being so open and non-judgmental?

Do you think Biden was scandalized by Trumps pride into supporting tax payer funded abortions? Is that why you keep mentioning Trump in a thread about Biden being refused communion? I’m trying to see the reasoning behind your non-sequiturs. It’s really quite challenging.

Read the Westminster confession
Chapter 15:
  1. As every man is bound to make private confession of his sins to God, praying for the pardon thereof; upon which, and the forsaking of them, he shall find mercy; so, he that scandalizeth his brother, or the church of Christ, ought to be willing, by a private or public confession, and sorrow for his sin, to declare his repentance to those that are offended, who are thereupon to be reconciled to him, and in love to receive him.

And having debated this before with a Presbyterian bishop he pointed this out to me in the debate:
  1. They, whom God hath accepted in his Beloved, effectually called, and sanctified by his Spirit, can neither totally nor finally fall away from the state of grace, but shall certainly persevere therein to the end, and be eternally saved.
  2. This perseverance of the saints depends not upon their own free will, but upon the immutability of the decree of election, flowing from the free and unchangeable love of God the Father; upon the efficacy of the merit and intercession of Jesus Christ, the abiding of the Spirit, and of the seed of God within them, and the nature of the covenant of grace: from all which ariseth also the certainty and infallibility thereof.
  3. Nevertheless, they may, through the temptations of Satan and of the world, the prevalency of corruption remaining in them, and the neglect of the means of their preservation, fall into grievous sins; and, for a time, continue therein: whereby they incur God’s displeasure, and grieve his Holy Spirit, come to be deprived of some measure of their graces and comforts, have their hearts hardened, and their consciences wounded; hurt and scandalize others, and bring temporal judgments upon themselves.
Salvation is wounded but not lost according to him citing the above.

This is your judgement of Biden, which is not necessarily true. For one, legislation prohibiting abortion hasn’t been put to the vote to the Senate and even if it were, the Senate would be forced to vote against it based on the precedent of the Roe V Wade decision.

So, there is no basis for you to judge that he has been in a state of habitual sin.
But what’s the nature of a habitual sin? Would Joe Biden have to vote in favor of the same pro-choice bill (or vote against the same pro-life bill) on a weekly basis in order for his action to be considered “habitual”? Or does the spirit of an action amount to anything?

From joebiden.com (dated September of this year):
Reverse the Trump Administration and states’ all-out assault on women’s right to choose. As president, Biden will work to codify Roe v. Wade , and his Justice Department will do everything in its power to stop the rash of state laws that so blatantly violate the constitutional right to an abortion, such as so-called TRAP laws, parental notification requirements, mandatory waiting periods, and ultrasound requirements.
  • Restore federal funding for Planned Parenthood. The Obama-Biden administration fought Republican attacks on funding for Planned Parenthood again and again. As president, Biden will reissue [guidance] specifying that states cannot refuse Medicaid funding for Planned Parenthood and other providers that refer for abortions or provide related information and reverse the Trump Administration’s [rule] preventing Planned Parenthood and certain other family planning programs from obtaining Title X funds.
    • Just as the Obama-Biden Administration [did],President Biden will rescind the Mexico City Policy that President Trump [reinstated] and expanded. This rule currently bars the U.S. federal government from supporting important global health efforts – including for malaria and HIV/AIDS – in developing countries simply because the organizations providing that aid also offer information on abortion services.
From Joe Biden’s Twitter, dated May of this year:
States across the nation are passing extreme laws that violate a woman’s constitutional right to choose. These bills are a blatant attempt to overturn Roe v Wade. It’s wrong. It’s pernicious. We must # StopTheBans and ensure this choice remains between a woman and her doctor.
Per the Washington Times (June of this year):
In a dramatic reversal, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden said Thursday he no longer supports a ban on federal funding for abortions, known as the Hyde Amendment, a move he announced after a day of sharp criticism from campaign rivals and key Democratic interest groups.
This is all just from this year, mind you. Do we have to wait a year (or four?) to finally say, “Enough”? Or are we going to see his very un-Catholic policies for what they are and admit to ourselves that he isn’t in communion with us?

However if you are arguing the Catholic position that contrary to OSAS that Jesus did not pay for all you sins past, present, and future, then welcome to our side 👍

OSAS is misunderstood as needing no works or penitence.
Those who are part of the elect would exhibit Christian repentance and would be transformed and sanctified.

Chapter 16:
  1. These good works, done in obedience to God’s commandments, are the fruits and evidences of a true and lively faith: and by them believers manifest their thankfulness, strengthen their assurance, edify their brethren, adorn the profession of the gospel, stop the mouths of the adversaries, and glorify God, whose workmanship they are, created in Christ Jesus thereunto, that, having their fruit unto holiness, they may have the end, eternal life.
