Dear Theotokos:
We are a prayer group, every week in my own exoerience I can tell you that we begin always with the Lord’s Prayer, the Hail Mary and then with the Lord of mercy or the Rosary. then we pray to the Lord for he sick, people with problems(lose jobs, need jobs, etc) for the armed forces for the end of the war, abortions, some or our member inform the group of the visits to the sick at the hospital, homes, some give food or collect money for someone in need, we talk about differents issues also give testimonies of the Power of the Almighty in our daily life. Then we sing and praise the Lord! asking for guidance and protection during our meeting, today we talk about the 10 commandments… How important they are in our lives as christians, We praise and sing again, the member who lead the group read a versicle of the Bible. and we pray in silence and meditate about what we read. Our meeting are about 2 hours mostly at the end we hold hands together again we finish with the Lord’s Prayer, and the Hail Mary. During our meeting also is someone present needs a prayer we laid hands and ask the Lord to be merciful and grace with their needs, some of our member start speaking in tongues, we read the :bible1: a lot in our spare time , always asking for guidance and protection :knight2:. … you may feel Ok with what you do and I think is very good to feel Jesus in your heart when you worship our Lord,… as I told you before we attend mass weekly, confess, and do the same thing other catholic people or catholics groups do.we love our Church :love:the same way you do.:crossrc:God:blessyou:
I do realize this. I do. But can we consider the Charismatic Movement to only be a prayer group?

After reading most of these posts, I’m amazed at the misunderstanding and misperceptions of Charismatics.

Yes, as with any group, including “regular” Catholics, there can be a few that find themselves on the edge"fringe" of practice and can fall into error, but it’s not a common practice in the Charismatic movement to “see” angels on the altar, it is part of the regular Holy Roman Catholic Church with the “true presence” Eucharist, and is not some Protestant plot to infiltrate the Catholic Church.

The movement is a return from the overitualized Middle Ages formality of Catholic religous practice to the simplicity of the very beginning of the church. It puts the reponsibility of evangelizing and the building up of the faith and fervor of the church on the everday layperson and requires that they make a further commitment to accept an inflowing of the Holy Spirit…the love between the Father and Son… to develope a VERY personal relationship with God. Then to use and practice those spiritual gifts mentioned in Catholic scripture, used in the earliest Catholic Church by the Apostles and early followers, and given by the spirit to build up the faith and therefore the CATHOLIC church . It is accepted by the Holy Roman Catholic Church that at Pentacost the Holy Spirit filled those gathered and appeared as tongues of fire above the heads of those apostles gathered there. They then went out preached in different tongues and used those spiritual gifts given at that time to begin to build up the church. It’s all in scripture in Acts.

Granted…after going so long without seeing those gifts (healing, speaking in tongues, prophetic word, discernment etc.), mentioned in accepted Catholic scriptures, used by anyone but consecrated religous mystics for so long…it can be a big adjustment to witness. The emotional religious fervent joy also seems to be out of the quiet Catholic tradition that most of this era are probably used to seeing because of the long period that this was out of use. But it IS Catholic in it’s very history and form and should not contradict any Catholic Doctrine. Mass, Eucharist, and Mary should all be accepted…it’s just at base much more emotional, demonstrative, mystical, and therefore should be practiced under strict mentoring and guidance procedures and tested, approved, experienced leaders.

My prayer group is over 30 years old, has many of the gifts manifested, has a strict format that is found in Catholic bible scriptures, and goes through a series of discernment periods, tests, and monitoring procedures for gifts to prevent abuses.

We start with prayer, end with prayer…We use the Our Father, Glory Be, Hail Mary and other ordinary prayers. We sing our praise of God using some contemprary Christian music and also traditional hyms…even some in Latin, We read parts of the bible out loud, and sometimes have prepared teachings on a random subject or the next Sunday’s gospel by approved leadership team members. Sometimes even the ordained Deacon member tests out preaching his homily. We are under the guidance of a regular parish and diocesan charismatic grouping, and accept all doctrines and practices of the “regular” church. I have never seen abuses like those decribed at any event or level on a diocesan or state level. Only a sincere desire to please, praise, and worship the same God the Father and Jesus that the rest of the Catholic Church does.

If you’re interested in seeing the website of a longtime Charismatic parish, not mine:), click on: stveronica.com See for yourself how “weird” they appear. It’s only one of many different spirituality movements accepted within the church that hopes to renew and revitalize fervent faith, and then inspire each one of us laity to go out to evangelize and serve.

Peace,

Corinne

I can’t imagine why someone has the desire to speak in tongues in the first place. As I said way back in this thread, gifts from the Holy Spirit would have a humbling effect, not a noisy, show off effect. I am really skeptical of that Lutheran minister “commanding” everyone to do it. The whole thing creeps me out although I am sure in some rare cases, the real gift of tongues is given.

Thank You Corrine:thumbsup:👍👍, I agree with all you have said. The meetings I attended were also this way. And had also been ongoing for a long period of time. The meetings I attended were part of the movement begun by Father Randall, who is a now retired priest from Rhode Island. But when I posted a podcast of him, I got the response that he is pentecostal.LOL. If anyone were to really look into him and the books he has written they would see the fruits and that he is truly catholic. I have come to the understanding of no matter what we say not everyone will agree. Maybe we are we are supposed to be and they are where they are supposed to be. I keep going back to scripture Ephesians 4;4-16. I tried my best to explain my positive experience. The point I was trying to get across was not to knock the group as a whole. We are told to test the spirits look for fruits. I feel those who are against it are picking one or two aspects of the group and tearing into them, And I think it is insulting to our Lord to deny any gifts He may offer some one. (Proverbs 3;5-6 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding.6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight.)

I don’t know how one can read the bible and then deny what is in it. It seems to me tongues were a very important part of bringing unbelievers to the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ. The bible is not just history it is Gods word for us, the way of daily life with our God it is the moral compass, it is full of lessons and graces. It is so much more that I don’t know how to put it to words. We are supposed to be united not divided, if the church does not condemn charismatics then as Catholics we need to come together and support each other. As there are groups that may be false in teaching just as there are false teachers we should know how to discern this and pray and trust that God hearing our prayers will cut off any branches that bear no fruit.
I don’t think I have any fullness or “more” that one not practicing this way, just as you should not look at me and say I am “less” wrong. We all have the same God and He loves us all equally. As long as we are truly honest in who we serve, meaning ourselves or God we are all truly on the same walk and should be hand in hand preaching His salvation and mercy and love. I believe we are each where he wants us if we are not the Holy Spirit will move (prompt) us if we are open to Gods will. We all have Gods graces manifest in different ways because He created us each as individuals but our goal remains the same which is as Christians is to proclaim the truth and lead other to the truth in the Lord Jesus. And to let Him continually mold us into who He created us to be, that we may eventually and eternally walk with Him in the fullness of His glory. 🙂 God Bless

Just wanted to add this scripture for encouragement.
Philippians 2; 1-18
1 Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, 2 make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. 3 Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; 4 do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. 5 Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. 8 Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
12 So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling; 13 for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.
14 Do all things without grumbling or disputing; 15 so that you will prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world, 16 holding fast the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I will have reason to glory because I did not run in vain nor toil in vain. 17 But even if I am being poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice and share my joy with you all. 18 You too, I urge you, rejoice in the same way and share your joy with me. :bible1::grouphug::hug1::amen:

I agree totally with this comment.

We never said that. No one said he was Pentecostal. I believe my words were that the show was indistinguishable from a Protestant broadcast.

This is taking our argument against the Charismatic Movement out of context. We have clearly stated in numerous posts that many of us do not believe the claims of the Movement that these are the authentic gifts of the Holy Spirit. No one is denying God. We are denying the claims of the Movement. The Church has rejected many Marian apparitions, can we now say the Church is denying the Mother of God?

I just wanted to clarify these points as it seems that some are getting the wrong impression about our argument. We trust God, but we don’t trust the Movement. We certainly have nothing against the people involved. 🙂

Here specifically is the root of my argument against the Movement. You use the word “overritualized” as if that is a bad thing. Have you ever seen an Eastern Liturgy? It far exceeds the ritualization of the Middle Ages and the liturgies stem from liturgies that predate the year 500 A.D. Yet, the usual scene in these Eastern Churches demonstrates a faith and fervor that far exceeds anything I have seen in the West.

My point has been, from the beginning, that we don’t need the Charismatic Movement to come into our Church, “deritualize” it, make corrections as if something is wrong with it, and present a means of divisiveness (i.e., your way is better than our way). Catholicism has been defined. It is what it is. But certainly, one does not need the Charismatic Movement to “develop a VERY personal relationship with God”.

Let me revert back to an old question I posted on this board and have yet to receive an answer.

If the Charismatic Movement is a return to the behaviors of the Early Church…

A) Why then do we not see these expressions in the oldest Liturgies still in use today? To be sure, they are far more “overritualizied” than the Ordinary Mass of the Latin Rite.

B) Why such a focus on modernization (i.e., Christian rock music, Protestant methodology)?

Anybody?

Remember, our arguments presented here are hardly misconceptions. Each and every one was an actual, educated observation.

We are denying the claims of the Movement. The Church has rejected many Marian apparitions, can we now say the Church is denying the Mother of God?

No but the ones the church rejected as Catholics we now have the knowledge to stay away from these false claims to take no part, as for the one’s not approved we are told to use discernment. No you do not deny Mary but you may deny Gods power and ability to say He can’t or wouldn’t allow these apparitions to occur that I believe is why the Vatican takes this stance on any appartition they don’t want to deny what could be a grace from God.

I just wanted to clarify these points as it seems that some are getting the wrong impression about our argument. We trust God, but we don’t trust the Movement. We certainly have nothing against the people involved. 🙂
My belief is God is in control of all things ultimately, Correct? That even satan is under Gods command, Correct? That satan can do nothing without Gods permission, Correct? So then if God chooses to allow this movement as He has, do you not trust He will cut from it the branches that bear no fruit. Sure you can argue that you don’t agree but ultimately God is in control I trust the Vatican and the decisions of the Pope. So you don’t trust that God can and will by the power of the Holy Spirit move among His children.
I’m sorry but it seems to me a trust issue, I trust God. I walked down a long dark road once, sure it was my free will to go that way, but I now trust Gods will for me, meaning He gave me free will I used it and learned from it. It was the wrong way but He knew how much I could handle, He knows if He lets us go we will come back to Him, and when we come back we come back stronger in our trust with Him. If this movement is false and We use our free will to walk down that road God must have a greater glory that will come from this movement I trust that with all my heart. He will save His children who are lost and He will call them home, He will take whatever is bad and ultimately make it good for His glory. Do you think when people learned Mary was pregnant with out a husband they believed that this could be from God? Probably fro this reason alone may denied it. Do you think when they saw Paul persecuting Steven anyone would have thought he could then then proclaim Jesus to be Christ? Were these not events that seemed to be wrong or against Gods commandments but they were indeed for His glory. It is all in the bible God is always going to overcome any evil that seeks to destroy His creation. I am not saying sit back and do nothing but how can arguing with other Christians who are doing wrong in any way be of any use to the Kingdom Of God? We are in accord with the
Catholic Church so until we are not (declared by the Pope to be false heretical), maybe we should all be using this knowledge to inform unbelievers of Jesus Christ. God Bless

We should not use this argument. We will always have evil in this world until the Second Advent. Our trust in God should not mean that we are not responsible for protecting the Church against what could be less than appropriate intentions. Everyone keeps moving back to the approval of the Pope as the source of the Movement’s credibility, yet no one has been able to address why the other Patriarchs of the other Churches have not embraced the Movement in this same way. For me, that is very telling.
So you don’t trust that God can and will by the power of the Holy Spirit move among His children.
I’m sorry but it seems to me a trust issue, I trust God.
As I have already stated, I very much trust God. I don’t trust the Movement, which is something, I believe, was organized by man and his insatiable need to be entertained, born out of an area of ADHD religion. Now there may very well be good people in the Charismatic Movement and as such, will certainly produce fruit, but I would not be so quick to give this credit to the Movement, however. 😉

I don’t give credit to the movement I give credit top the Holy Spirit that is within this movement. I write christian poetry I believe it to be a gift otherwise I would be saying I gave myself a talent and created creativeness within myself. Nope sorry all the credit goes to God. I believe you have a gift you seem very intelligent and knowledgeable
of your faith. Do you think you are intelligent of your own accord. Sure you read you learn you are a devout catholic no doubt but gods grace is what brings this about. Sorry if you think I get way off topic I certainly don’t claim to be as knowledgeable in these matters as you are. I only write what I feel with all my heart to be true, I am simply trying to be honest. I am not a good debater I myself have ADD and tend to loose track easily. My whole point I think I am trying to make is we are all equal in Gods eyes how ever we choose to serve Him so long as it is not against teaching of the church and His word and it is something we should cherish in each other.

The Parable of the Weeds
24Jesus told them another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. 25But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. 26When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared.

27"The owner’s servants came to him and said, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?’

28" ‘An enemy did this,’ he replied.
"The servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and pull them up?’

29" ‘No,’ he answered, ‘because while you are pulling the weeds, you may root up the wheat with them. 30Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.’

If this movement is the weeds He’ll deal with it. But I think it has a bit of both.
No we don’t do nothing, that’s not what I mean or what I meant or what I am trying to say. We pray we teach catholic doctrines, read the bible so if we come upon a false group we will know it and stay away from it. If it bears fruit for the Lord we have a choice to embrace it or stay where we are which I have no argument with. God Bless I think I am learning from you so Thank You I appreciate your knowledge. I have to admit sometimes I don’t understand all of what you are asking me. LOL

Do you think you are intelligent of your own accord. Sure you read you learn you are a devout catholic no doubt but gods grace is what brings this about.
Well, it’s truly the combination of which you speak, that brings about a gift from God. The Grace of God and my willingness to accept such Grace.
Sorry if you think I get way off topic I certainly don’t claim to be as knowledgeable in these matters as you are. I only write what I feel with all my heart to be true, I am simply trying to be honest.
This is why I enjoy your posts. 🙂
I think I am learning from you so Thank You I appreciate your knowledge. I have to admit sometimes I don’t understand all of what you are asking me. LOL
Thank you for your contributions! I believe this all really comes down to incongruent discernment. The issue here is that it is confusing, to both sides of this argument, why two Catholics can discern two completely different conclusions off of this Movement. I must say that I do not have an answer as to why this is, as I believe that everyone here is sincerely discerning through prayer.

Perhaps the source of the controversy rests in the erroneous idea that the Church needs to refurbish its form and practice. Certainly one can be gifted with the Holy Spirit and not try to change the Liturgy, make grandiose supernatural claims, replace solemn and contemplative liturgical music with Christian rock, etc. I don’t think any one here is arguing against the reception of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. I really think it comes down to a distrust of the manifestations because the claims are so unnecessary.

I will share a very personal story with everyone here that may shed some light on this subject and my point of view. I never talk of this story, but I think in this case, I should. Perhaps, it happened for the purpose of sharing it with this group. Perhaps you can decide.

Many years ago, when I was younger and discerning a vocation to priesthood, I had an experience that could only be described intellectually as supernatural. I had no words for this event. I knew I was not suffering from any psychosis or other psychological pathologies, yet, I was seeing this. They continued for many years and even to this day, on occasion, it will still happen. But when it first occurred, I became alarmed and sought the help of a nun that I had worked with in my diocese. I told no one of these events, except her. Her advice was indispensable, even though, at the time, I thought she was minimizing my experience.

Anyway, when I asked her what I should do, she told me to do nothing, to go about my business as if nothing had happened. She told me to draw no attention to the event, continue my prayer life, and not become distracted by these extraordinary things.

I really didn’t know it at the time, but she was giving me a lesson in humility. There was no need to shout this out from the roof tops and declare how blessed I was by God to have been given this gift. The proper course of action was to accept the gift in a spirit of true humility, tell no one as to not cause my ego any harm and to, of course, not cause others to become distracted or jealous. The goal was to just blend into the rest of the Church like everyone else. Because, it is not the supernatural gifts we receive that determine how blessed we are, rather, it is the reception of the Sacraments that bestows on us, the fullness of God’s Grace and favor. So, in a way, we are all very much equally blessed to the furthest extent possible in this life.

There is great wisdom there. Great wisdom! I have a feeling, that those who are against the Charismatic Movement, like me, feel these private supernatural occurrences need to remain, just that, private. We have the Sacraments. There is more than enough endless Grace to be gained through them. If God grants us a gift of a supernatural experience, thank Him, and go about your business. Salvation and repentance is far more important than shock and awe.

Here specifically is the root of my argument against the Movement. You use the word “overritualized” as if that is a bad thing.
I find myself in a position to agree here.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with ritual, and it should not be looked upon as that post appears to.

Thank you so much for sharing that. I understand what what you are saying about what happened to you. I went through certain things that I also have not shared. Some I felt were distractions from the truth of the Lord. Like chasing miracles I learned that early on after I chased a few. I did always share with my mom as to make sure I wasn’t going nutty. I learned a lot in one year and I know it was by Gods grace alone. I understand your feelings of it all becoming showy or about selfish emotions. But I still firmly believe that the Lord knows our hearts intentions if someone is maybe doing the wrong thing but in their heart they think or I should say feel and believe they are doing it for HIM alone He will teach them and guide them to the truth. That is how I learned all this year I would be going one way maybe to find out through scripture or a reading at mass or from some one at the meeting that I was wrong. And as soon as I would learn I would go to the lord and admit my mistakes seek forgiveness and go onto a new day filled with lessons and love.
Before I attended these meetings I was afraid to share this poetry. I didn’t know how. I was afraid of everything I think I feared the devil more than God then and that has got to be the biggest thing I learned from them is that all this fear was not from God that I need only fear God and give satan no credit. John 4;4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. I was so afraid of what people would think of me or that I could be wrong. But I soon learned that this was not humble either. Because all that should matter is what God thinks what are my true intentions and that is to bring people to Jesus and His love. If I were to keep this gift to myself I would not be sharing what is not meant only for me. It is not my own to keep and this is what I feel. How can we keep these which are meant for the building of the church to ourselves. If we hide it away what use is it to be given these gifts. There were times at these meetings when I would read a poem and it might mean something to someone help them to see things in a way they hadn’t been able to see. Heck I go back and read them and see what I didn’t recognize when I wrote them. But I know I don’t do anything except write what I feel from my experience in this journey with our Lord. I agree some gifts are to be kept until the Lord desires them to be known. As with the saints, a lot of what they did for the Lord was not made known till after their deaths. I am no saint I am still a struggling sinner but I do my best to stay on the Lords path. To do what I feel He wants me to do to share as He wants me to share. I personally would feel selfish to keep these words to myself. I have asked a few priests what to do and was told it was alright to share and that I should. I have sought out spiritual direction but have yet to find someone all is in His hands I trust that, and so like all of us here I pray. I don’t always know how to share this poetry so I pray the Lord will always lead me to do so at the right time. I learned from reading St. Faustina’s Diary that we need to know when to be quiet and when to speak. So in your case you knew to keep to yourself your experience it was only for you. For your personal journey with Jesus. I write very often and I (usually) know what to share and what is private for my relationship with the Lord.
I am probably off topic again but I think I shared what I felt I should. I am still learning what it is to be humble, I was told once not to mistake his humbleness for my meekness. I still don’t know what that means if anyone does I’d appreciate if they would share there thoughts. I think it means being shy doesn’t mean humble but I don’t know. I pray everyday for the Lord to humble me and teach me how to be humble for Him. And to not let pride puff up my head and destroy my heart. It’s like mother Theresa said we are pencils in the Lords hands. I truly with all my heart know He loves each of us the same we are all equal we are all His. I am no better than a criminal we are no better than any other around us. He loves each of us in our own unique ways we serve Him within our church and the world. God Bless Thanks again for sharing your experience I appreciate you doing so.

I had to touch on the music just a bit. At our group we only listened to one song a night. And it wasn’t rock. But I do now listen to only christian rock I once listened to Metallica Heavy metal rock and all that junk. It has been a year since I have listened to any regular station. I listen to uplifting K love. The music sometimes feels like a thankful prayer to the Lord it shares with people what the Lord does the same as the songs in mass. I also used to not particularly like the church music now I love it. I wouldn’t want this christian rock music is mass I like it just fine. But while driving it is like singing prayers of thanksgiving or singing about all the Lord does within us. It is good to share this way because some one might be going through similar things and not even recognize it as the Lords doing. Don’t know if that makes sense but I feel it shows us all the different ways He is within our hearts and lives.

I don’t think personally anything needs to be changed with in the mass it is as God has kept it for 2000 years. I think most catholic charismatics would agree or I hope they would. To me as a prayer meeting seperate from mass it can be uplifting. But again the group was not like very dramatic or anything and if someone did get I guess to enthusiastic in the wrong way it would quickly and calmly be stopped and everyone would be asked to pray. (I learned some discernment at those moments) We are all going to make mistakes so the leader would just nicely redirect us to prayer.
I firmly believe it is not for everyone it didn’t make me better than anyone it just helped me along at a time when I was really feeling alone in my experience. These people had all gone through what I had and were able to help me discern. I had some pretty of the wall thoughts sometimes that they helped me to see clearly by Gods grace of course. I think when we are coming back to the faith we can be pulled back and forth and we really need help to stay on the correct path. My experience was after a great period away from the church. When I came back I really felt that struggle to do what was right and to really see what was right but then I felt pulled back to my old ways of seeing and thinking. I probably wouldn’t have been able to go to someone at mass and tell them what I felt. I would have felt stupid like I should know all this already being raised catholic. I was told by people so many times go to your priest go to confession which I did and was led to this group.
I have definitely had the same thoughts like how come we can’t all see it the same way if we are all doing it for God with good intentions. I’ll keep praying maybe while reading the bible I’ll find or come to some understanding. God Bless

agreement to PCM post I didn’t link that right,🙂 opps
I agree totally with this comment.
I agree only because I never witnessed it being loud and showy. It was usually at the beginning of the meeting and we would follow the person leading after she would say thank you Lord and then everyone whether speaking in tongues or native language would praise the Lord. I never even did it out loud in my heart I praised the Lord in english but I have to say the first time I was taken by surprise then felt at peace. It is or was in my experience done quietly with each voice raising together up to the Lord. I would say it must depend upon the group. No one ever fell to the ground nothing dramatic like that at all. It was special also when you would learn what others were going through as far as illness, loss, or any trial or suffering someone else was going through I think sometimes this can help us to see we are not alone and like just when we think we are facing the biggest mountain climb we could ever face and then we see someone else has a higher one and through it all remains so faithful to the Lord, or sometimes they need the encouragement and that is what we shared. Maybe if we took the name out of it it would be easier to accept. As you can see I could go on and on and on but I won’t I’m off to make dinner. God Bless :grouphug:

I always have.
I have a very difficult time seeing the Charismatic Movement as merely a prayer group. Especially if we are to take CorinneNj’s post as accurate. Corinne reports some serious implications. I’ve already covered the issue of overritualization. But there are other, very serious implications in that post.

After Corinne states that the “Movement is a return from the overtitualized Middle Ages formality of Catholic religious practice to the simplicity of the very beginning of the Church” (which bleeds of liturgical change in my opinion), it is stated that the Movement “puts the responsibility of evangelization and the building up of the faith and fervor of the Church on the everyday layperson.” Now is this not a bold expression of Protestantism? Only the Magisterium and its represented clergy is qualified to evangelize and build the faith of the Church. The laity is simple not skilled enough to do such. If a layperson is interested in being part of this, however, that person should apply to join the clergy as a priest, brother, nun, or monk.

Now I don’t know about anyone else here, but I know of no prayer group that makes such dangerous claims as those presented above.

Yep!!.. what Corinne said is true, I mentioned in one of my thread that after de disciples were gathered in a room hiding and scare of the treaths they receive and days after the resurecction of our Lord Jesus there was a big noise in the sky wich sound like a strong wind blowing filling the entire house and what look like a tongues of fire touch each person there, they receive the Holy Spirit an begin to profetize, healings. like Jesus did, also speaking in tongues etc,. As Corinne said all that was lost in the time, different reasons, no to be discuss here, but at the very begining Our catholic church have all that caracteristics , correctly said and written in ACTS.Ch.1 Vs:1-21.Holy Bible. (American Bible Society.) Any other translations cab be check if any doubt.
:blessyou:all!!

I would not be advertising Corinne’s post as an argument in favor of the Movement if I were you, but that’s just a word of unsolicited advice. See my above post for the reasons why.
