At some point in the future, Catholics who are bigoted against gays will repent of their evil hatred, just as they have for their hatred against Jews, and their support of slavery after the Emancipation Proclamation (cf ‘Battle Cry of Freedom’.) I know people dress up bigotry in nice terms about ‘protecting the family’ and other such nonsense, but they did the same thing when interracial marriage was prohibited (cf the ‘Loving vs. Virginia’ decision and reactions.)

Disgusting. Truly offensive this rabid support for bigotry, regardless of what weasel words are used to defend it.
for those who dont believe in God, morals and faith are not important. what is your problem?
if you want to live your life the way you want, you cannot be in the CC. that is all. no problem here.

Does not the Catholic Church promote social justice? We have long been supporters of those who suffer from discrimination and prejudice. Like it or not, this includes gay men and women (all children). We may not agree with their lifestyle but we must support their need for equality.

I suppose it’s a sign of the weakness of the argument that someone would say not believing in God means not having morals. It’s a ridiculous position, but attractive to a certain mindset, I suppose.

It’s not merely ‘being in the Church’; it’s the social ramifications. Denial of health insurance and early death, for example, to partners of gays. Is that ‘pro life’? It seems Catholic pro life morals are readily compromised if the issue is homosexuality.

Sodomy is disgusting and unhealthy. Being pro-life means helping people out of this lifestyle. The Church is never going to condone sodomy as it is a sin that cries to the heavens. The gay movement wants to make this a political issue as they seek taxpayer money. Your comparisons to anti-semitism and others don’t hold up either. Compassion yes, acceptance never.

And your premise is that it is ok to believe in God and live a promiscuous life. who is denying healthcare? why mix healthcare, the color of skin, gay agenda, and prolife all in the same category? the devil may be smart, but God has the great Wisdom of knowing the Truth from a lie.

It’s a desperate diversionary tactic that the mainstream media embraces.

The gay agenda seeks money from spousal benefits. They cry bigotry when told those benefits are for families especially with children. Society created those benefits to provide for stay at home moms and the children in the event the husband/father/breadwinner died. Why would a gay man want to benefit from the death of his male partner? It’s about greed and access to easy money.

The Church’s position is to hate the sin and love the sinner. Councel the poor soul inflicted with same sex attraction; provide empathy and support so he/she can live a chaste life as the Bible and Church directs them to.

No one is interested in your views of ‘sodomy’. In addition, it’s a common heterosexual practice. You might be interested in the fact the 4th Lateran Council of 1215 said marrying Jews was a sin. As to being a taxpayer issue, again, Christians used to lie about Jews and their ‘lust for money.’

Merely saying my comparisons ‘don’t hold up’ is an unsupported assertion. You guys were wrong about the Jews and you’re wrong about gays.

What paranoia do you people have about gays and money? You used to say the same thing about Jews. It’s the right of surviving family members to inherit. Greed? Yep…another charge leveled at Jews.

As to the bible, check Ephesians 6:5. Tell me if slaves should obey their masters. Is that still part of Christian teaching?

Actually, it is a relevant point. Where do you think that banner came from? It’s been in use at the Pride March in years past. Just do a simple google search and you’ll find it. And how about those t-shirts?

It is not a sin to be homosexual and Catholic. It is a sin to live an ongoing, unrepentant homosexual lifestyle. It is a sin to proselytize and promote the homosexual lifestyle.

Might I refer you to COURAGE - a group that supports Catholics who struggle with homosexual attraction, but who are committed to living a chaste, authentic Catholic life. You may want to look at the section of their site entitled “Five Goals”.

It used to be a sin to be Protestant. It used to be sin to marry a Jew. Again and again you bigots keep making the same mistakes. Grow up

Now let me see…you say that gays wanting to marry is ‘promiscuous’? That’s a classic oxymoron. And gay partners are denied healthcare because they’re not married. Are you saying there are NO legal benefits to being married? Go ahead and try to make THAT argument.

No one is interested in your views of ‘sodomy’.
You might not be but you don’t speak for everyone.

Sodomy is not common practice among heterosexuals, at least not practicing Catholics. Even if heterosexuals do practice it the sin remains the same. This is not my personal opinion it is the Church.

Your argument is full of fallacy and conjecture. If you can’t argue this subject without cloaking yourself in the cries of anti-semitism your credibility is suspect. The Church is not launching any Inquistions against homosexuals, just refusing to condone their sinful behaviour.

Why would anyone come into a Catholic chatroom to defend the gay agenda? Especially one stating no religious affliliation?

I was just waiting for one of your types to post on here. Bigots? Us? Oh my what a harsh word. First of all we are not biggots we want the entire world to be saved and to know Truth as we have come to know it, from the one true Chuch. I don’t have hatred towards the Jews and the Chuch never promoted slavery. Your comparision really does not hold up in this discussion. The Catholic Church NEVER prohibited interracial marriage, only governments Get your facts right before you spew out poison. Also it’s amazing how you fly to “tolerance” flag, but yet so quick to judge and be INTOLERANT of true Christians

Now you are just trying to start controversy with this statment.

No, I’m not, there are two sides to everything, what I tell you and what you believe I tell you, ie…what you HEAR.
Same thing can said about you

**Here we go the whole “social Justice” fad. Yes the Catholic Church promotes social justice for everyone, but her teachings on social justice are distorted to promote a sinful agenda, these teacings are only a small part of the Catholic Church. The Church largely promotes the SALVATION of SOULS, and guess what? When we condone, promote, or even allow sinful lifestyles to reign in the Church we are not doing anything to try to save those souls. The Church clearyl states the people who suffer from same-sex attractions must be given the respect as any human being with sensitivity to their problem, but we must never condone or promote homosexual acts. **

**It still a sin to leave the Church and become portestants, read the Catechism on what the difference between venila and mortal sin are, and what it takes to commit one. Seems like the only one that needs to grow up in here is you my friend. You only type and post things with emotion, but no proof or anything to back it up. We all have posted things that the Church clearly teaches in the CCC, but not one of us has posted anything hateful against people with same-sex attraction. **

“Sodomy” is not common among practicing Catholics? Uh, how do you know that? And I’m not arguing anti-semitism, I’m arguing history. The Church HAS been influential in making homosexuality illegal (cf. “Lawrence v Texas” for example, and the dissent by Antonin Scalia), so you’re wrong.

And you seem to think Catholics exist in a vacuum. You don’t. Your bigotry has a social influence…look at the $600,000 spent by the Catholic Church in Maine during the recent elections. This is a disgrace

Yeah you used to say the same thing about Jews when Dominicans forced Jews to listen to them preach in the synagogues. Funny how your ‘love’ of sinners is expressed in terms of force and law. And yes, the Church promoted slavery. I gave a reference, go look at it. The Church and State used to be the same entity. Go read your history.

No proof? I’ve given my references and citations. You? You offer assertions and little else. It’s hateful to say gays should be denied equal rights.

Latest CDC survey reports that 40% of hetero couples have tried anal sex. And if by “sodomy” one also means oral sex (as the term once did mean), then, well, the number is quite high, I am sure…

How do you know that it is? I base my statement on Church teaching. If you are a practicing Catholic then sodomy is not something you practice as well. The Church states that it is a 'sin that cries out to Heaven". The Bible isn’t too keen on it either. Have you heard of Sodom and Gomorah?

Nature proves sodomy to be against order and health too. Homosexuality is not self sustaining, leads to early death, and is therefore contrary to the public good.

If you or a close family member is gay then my heart and prayers go out to you. The Church wants you to practice a chaste lifestyle, offer your daily frustrations to God one day join him in Heaven. There are more productive things you can do with your time and talents then to make anti-Catholic posts in a Catholic chatroom.

“leads to early death”?

ha

Eating beef and drinking alcohol and working in the sun leads to early death in the same way that being gay does.

Does this mean that those who practice oral sex are not good Catholics? I can’t quite tell the extent of what you are claiming here, and I am curious. Is this the standard Catholic position on this matter of sexuality: that certain very common sexual activities, even between a married couple, are forbidden?

Who is deniying their equal rights? They have the right to live, eat, work, religion, that is the basic right of a human being. I told you that all the things I said can be found in the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

By the way where did you give your references and citations? Unless I missed it?
