There was a thread on here a few days ago on this and I can’t find it so I don’t know if they took it off because it said governor and named the candidate or what happened so I will post it.
I will not name the candidate that he is backing but a quick search will show it. For that reason I can’t post the link from
LifeNews.com.
We have had many discussions on these forums on whether Catholic Casey was indeed pro-life.
Pennsylvania Senator Casey ran against and won Catholic Rick Santorium’s seat in congress.
I am somewhat familiar with the “Santorum Syndrome.”
Rick Santorum was the most high-profile defender of the unborn in a State that is pro-life in majority.
Admirably, Santorum would make speeches defending life at 2 or 3 am in the Senate chambers and have those speeches inserted into the Congressional Recoed."
There was very high hopes for Santorum, some even saw him as presidental timber. He was on the fast track to greater things. He oftentimes posed with his large family.
But during the last U.S. Senate primary in Pennsy, Mr. Santorum turned his back on a genuine pro-life contestant, Congressman Pat Toomey, a Roman Catholic with impeccable pro-life credentials. Pat Toomey was well-known throughout the State and was very popular.
Toomey was pitted against incumbent Sen. Arlen Specter.
Toomey, acording to the polls, was strong enough to unseat Specter in the primary.
Now, Arlen Specter has a 100% pro-abortion record among other vile and unacceptable endorsements such as late-term abortion, stem cell research from embryos, etc. If Arlen Specter was a Catholic he would have been excommunicated.
So, wher does Santorum fit into this picture?
SANTORUM ENDORSED SPECTER AND TIRELESSLY CAMPAIGNED FOR HIM (RAISING MONEY, TOO). This resulted in Specter winning by a majority of about 30,000 in a overall count of nearly 800,000 votes . Most of the votes that were lopsided in favor of Specter came from Philadelphia ( Pittsburgh, but not as lopsided). These two cities, especially Philadelphia are notorious for MORE people casting votes than are actually registered…many dead people vote in national elections in Philadelphia.
Had Santorum backed pro–Lifer Pat Toomey the voting irregularities would have not stood up in the final count.
This has to be the most hypocritical move by a “supposed” pro-lifer Had to make the pro-life voters have a backlash against Santorum. They did. They switched to now Senator Casey over Santorum. Casey won over Santorum in a landslide.
Santorum,in so far as having a political career is over in Pennsy. He might have a career as a Democrat in New York, New Jersey or Massachusetts.
Po-Life is not a pick-and-choose vigil; it is 24/7. To back a virulent pro-abortionist like Specter is nothing but hyperbole. I am glad Santorum is gone…as are many thousands of others.
Sic semper tyranus!
The article states one of two openly pro-life Democrat senators. I wonder who the other is. Harry Reid from Nevada, a Mormon, is pro-life. I wonder.
