No, because destroying the whole country without any plan to replace what you have torn down is just plain stupid. It seems the conservatives want to drag this country back to before the civil war era. Perhaps I misunderstand but your comment sounds like you are trying to say that I am motivated by wanting the government to take care of me. Please note that the last democrat I voted for, before Obama, was Hubert Humphrey when he ran against Nixon. That was a long time ago.
But the GOP is not the party of Lincoln anymore. Eisenhower, Ford and even Reagan would not be far right enough for the new GOP. .Barry Goldwater’s daughter said that her dad would not be considered conservative enough and would never recognize what his party has become. I had great respect for Goldwater. The party has sold out to far right radicals in the Tea Party, where there is clear evidence that the “so called” grass roots movement started and was motivated by race, Limbaugh,Fox news and financed by the Koch Brothers. It is also interesting how the GOP has now distanced themselves from them at least until after the election. When the GOP again is about being fiscally conservative and moves more toward the center than I will join the party again. In the mean time, I think they are using us and the abortion issue to destroy what is left of the middle class and to raise up all those rich people and companies they are tied to. People like Grover Norquist. Respectfully-
