Of course conflicts of interest are real. It’s why the study participants are legally obligated to reveal any and you’ll usually find them in the opening portions of the journal article.

I’m unaware of any laws about it. But even disclosure policies have their own inherent flaws.

And I’ve already said one needs to know how to read research and abstracts are never enough. I’m hoping that wasn’t pointed toward me.

By that logic no one should do anything about anything. You’re tying the hands of an entire sector of society - doctors are corrupt, studies are always flawed, pharmaceutical companies are evil, meds are dangerous. owning up to potential conflicts of interest probably isn’t sufficient…

It’s as though you leave nothing for anyone. I’m serious.

(Disclosure is required by the NIH for Federal funding, and most studies receive some sort of Federal funding in the US - even “private” ones by drug companies. It’s Federal code.)

All those people who died of polio before there was a vaccine would probably disagree with you, but they can’t - they’re dead of a disease modern medicine eradicated in this country. (For now, anyway.)

I’m not against the polio vaccine, it’s been around for generations. And do realize that the wave of deaths in generations past was due to poor sanitary conditions. It’s the vaccine safety of today and the schedule of massive number of doses, compared to what was given in the past, is what is troubling.

You’re not ingesting the gas.

You’re breathing in the fumes the whole time you’re there. Benzene is benzene. It gets in through your mucus membranes passively, even if you held your breath the whole time.

My point is - the small amount of benzene we’re all directly exposed to isn’t aggregately harmful because it’s so small an exposure.

Life is not a conspiracy theory. People and government entities really don’t have the time or the FUNDS for this sort of thing. Even drug companies - who suck, they really do suck - don’t have time for this.
