😃

But at least those there have something those in hell don’tā€¦ā€œhopeā€. They know that they will see God again. They just have to wait out their sentence.

I believe 90% of those who make it to heaven and not hell will go to purgaotry.

I believe that I’ll be the last one in purgatory when all is said and done. They have a chair with my name on it down there.

:o
Well, I think it’s safe to say I’ll have the seat next to yours… I hope you like to play chess…

I want to thank you for your biblical quotes. :blessyou: I do a lot of posting on boards where I’m a Catholic minority. This will help me in postings where someone makes some comment about Catholic Purgatory being un-biblical. ('Course, if history serves as a predictor, their response will be something like, ā€œOh, that piece of Scripture doesn’t mean THAT! Besides, if you’re baptized and confirmed in the Holy Spirit, you won’t NEED Purgatory!ā€ :doh2:

<><

So what you have been posting latley, according to your interpretation of Romans 2, one who holds to the belief of Islam and its Allah God that states Allah has no son, etc.,etc. in other words, deny the divinity of Jesus Christ, but yet ā€œloveā€ Mary, there concept of her that is, are then secured a spot in heaven after their time is served in purgatory.

If you believe in this, then what do you do about Romans 10:8-10?
But what does it say? ā€œThe word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,ā€ that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: That if you confess with your mouth, ā€œJesus is Lord,ā€ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame."
I think this is where we would have to trust in the Mercy of G_D. If the Muslim in question believes in his or her heart and has never been inspired by the Holy Spirit to confess that ā€œJesus is Lordā€ (i,e, he or she has never been given the gift of faith in Christ Jesus), then that person must be judged according to natural law.

If this is the case, then there is every reason to believe there will be Muslims (as well as Buddhists, Hindus, and the occasional Catholic šŸ˜‰ ) in Purgatory.

(As a side note, this is why I believe that, while the Pope may have said that ā€œGodā€ [Yahweh] and Allah may be the same, the Islamic faith has been led so far away from the Truth that I believe the question remains, is the Allah they worship the same as Yahweh? Consider that it is the only religion on earth which makes a major declaration of faith that G_D has had no children?)

<><

But it also could be your reference.

We need a Muslim here!

😃
Muslims believe that unfaithful Muslims not true to their religion will be punished in Jahannam, but will eventually be forgiven. As for non Muslims, they will be doomed there forever. For as stated before, God only knows who will go to Jahannam and who will go to Jannah.
This is taken from Wikipedia, so take it with a pinch of salt.šŸ˜‰ Is this Purgatory, kind of? I think there’s some kind of Limbo too.

Yeah, I saw the same definition.

It is some kind of limbo.

Jews too believe in a state of waiting outside of a final destination.

The only ones who don’t believe in this are Protestants that don’t beleive in Purgatory.

Is there a Protestant definition of Purgatory?

If not, why when the world 3 Great Faiths do believe in it?

Romans 2
God’s Judgment Is Fair
1Some of you accuse others of doing wrong. But there is no excuse for what you do. When you judge others, you condemn yourselves, because you are guilty of doing the very same things. 2We know that God is right to judge everyone who behaves in this way. 3Do you really think God won’t punish you, when you behave exactly like the people you accuse? 4You surely don’t think much of God’s wonderful goodness or of his patience and willingness to put up with you. Don’t you know that the reason God is good to you is because he wants you to turn to him?
5But you are stubborn and refuse to turn to God. So you are making things even worse for yourselves on that day when he will show how angry he is and will judge the world with fairness. 6God will reward each of us for what we have done. 7He will give eternal life to everyone who has patiently done what is good in the hope of receiving glory, honor, and life that lasts forever. 8But he will show how angry and furious he can be with every selfish person who rejects the truth and wants to do evil. 9All who are wicked will be punished with trouble and suffering. It doesn’t matter if they are Jews or Gentiles. 10But all who do right will be rewarded with glory, honor, and peace, whether they are Jews or Gentiles. 11God doesn’t have any favorites!
Code:
12Those people who don't know about God's Law will still be punished for what they do wrong. And the Law will be used to judge everyone who knows what it says. 13God accepts those who obey his Law, but not those who simply hear it.

14Some people naturally obey the Law's commands, even though they don't have the Law. 15This proves that the conscience is like a law written in the human heart. And it will show whether we are forgiven or condemned, 16when God appoints Jesus Christ to judge everyone's secret thoughts, just as my message says.
Oh, you are good…you are very good. šŸ‘

I think Al’Araf is kind of like Limbo, or Purgatory.

I don’t think there’s an Protestant definition of Purgatory because of Sola Scriptura and Purgatory not being explicit in scripture.

Ah the famous ā€œGet Out Of Hell Freeā€ or ā€œGOOHF!ā€ :ouch:

Chess? I like it, but I never have the time…well, I guess I ā€œwillā€ have the time eventually! :rotfl:

Chess + Dominoes…I’m Puerto Rican, I need my Dominoes there too!

I imagine myself at The Pearly Gates and the first thing that happens if that Saint Peter and The Templar all come out and give me high fives!

:extrahappy:

And Jesus gives me one of these…

:tsktsk:

Then I…

Then He…

:console:

Then off to Purgatory with me to…

:coffeeread:

and to…

:getholy:

There’s coffee in Purgatory?

Is that a question by any chance?

If so, could you break it down to me as if I’m a 2nd grader?

I found it difficult to understand.
You know what I’m asking, and so far you have skirted the issue nicely with assorted smileys. Nice use of them btw.

So…

I am not so sure that Dominoes delivers there. Besides, if they say 30 minutes or less that could be 30 years, 30,000 years…

Well, I guess you know it WILL get there, so there is hope, meaning that it is purgatory and not hell…

… unless the only pizza they deliver is anchovy …

… or maybe Canadian bacon and sauerkraut …

I’m sure there are Protestants who believe in Purgatory.

Any on this forum?

If not, then why not since Christians have always believed in it?
Our esteemed friendly neighbourhood Methodist (as she calls herself) Zooey would be one.

Dominoes? Sheesh … Now that’s a REAL definition of purgatory: where you have the time to learn all the things that you should have learned when you were living in your skin.

… although I always figured it would be stuff like learning to love your neighbor, but dominoes? Well, whatever …

Does anyone else remember the ā€œGot Milkā€ ad where the guy wound up in what he thought was heaven, complete with chocolate chip cookies, until he found there was no milk?

Answered already.

Romans 2.

Any man that pleases God will be allowed into heaven.

the only problem though Moslems do not have a path to get to heaven.

Never mentioned in the quaran how one gets there?

No one gets to see Allah
