My own thoughts on the parable are that God is the landowner, each of us is the fig tree and Jesus is the gardener. I think it is speaking about the need for repentence and if we do not repent nor “bear good fruit” we will “be cut down” and go to hell. Just my own thoughts.
Then we both see similar the narration of Jesus (pbwh) we see the similar teaching.
G-d is all powerful and just Jesus (pbwh) is mercy and has G-ds permission. G-d has given to Jesus (pbwh) and he gives to the tree. So is the parable.
Parables were a way of avoiding confrontation Jesus (pbwh) seemed pretty switched on to me and could have easily spoke of a land owner deciding to keep and nurture his tree, but he did not. Who am i to know better. I respect many men say they do and teach as they do and lead others in their way. i aspire to hold the teaching of My Brother in my heart.
After re-reading your OP, you have made some very good points and your interpretation is certainly not wrong. Everyone is called to love their enemies. Our job is to teach them the Gospel through our actions as well as our words.
Amen
But that also doesn’t mean that we have to tolerate sinfulness and part of loving someone is correcting them when they are wrong.
Please help me, sharpen me please quote what i wrote that says this, please, please, please (not to be smart) so many others say this and i thought my previous acknowledged this with Sr Holly who also did not quote me.
I respect CAF is a place where people burn with passion to show the splinter in the eye but my intention for this thread was to build a kingdom on seeing goodness.
I spoke about Jesus being God only because you separated Him from God and put a “pbwh” after His name, an indication that you do not understand that He IS God.
The parable shows separation to teach us, i did not write it, and I have no right to change it or it will teach different. My understanding is the Catholic Church teaches The members of The One true Church are parts of Jesus (pbwh) body.
God does not need us to wish peace on Him - He is the one who gives us peace.
Yeshua (pbwh) is narrated to the effect he has peace and offers it to any called and chosen or to be so. So I tell you “true peace be with him”
You have free will and can choose different no offence to me i am only doing as i see i am called to do.

If you still dont see these as straight i will try to offer more or you may help me by explaining the scriptures i speak of with better clarity than what is written.
But that also doesn’t mean that we have to tolerate sinfulness and part of loving someone is correcting them when they are wrong.
Maybe above i am wrong clearly G-d did not want to tolerate sinfulness but Jesus (pbwh) said he would for the year and nurture it away. As for the bold you are spot on G-d entitles you to justice Amen many Muslims are very big on this also. worth some big thinking. “am i called to the mercy seat or justice seat”

Hey wait up for Christians Jesus (pbwh) tolerated being nailed to a cross that seems to imply either he was powerless or tolerated sin. If you say he is G-d then he surely can not be powerless. even if you say oh but he was in flesh then G-d has no power in flesh. I say G-d has power over all things and all states of being.

For Muslims the same does not apply as most deny he was crucified.

If Christians are not called to tolerate sin and Muslims are not why would they need to convert to the same belief?

Bless ya thanks for the help

I did not say what you seem to be attributing to me - or what you think I am attributing to you. I was simply giving you my opinion, which I thought you asked for. You can take it or leave it. 🤷

Please accept my apology that your feelings are as, my intent was not to be uncharitable.
If i had inteded to be uncharitable i would have not cut a chunk of your post out.
I may not a real food communicator, the question was more posed for your reflection, not as seeking answer. The double bounce on the ? maybe did not help, in future i will try to give more care. Please be paitnet with me. Did not see your post as uncharitable in intention or you trying to be charitable, thought it a reflection of how you feel. In honesty i found it for me very uncharitable, it is loaded with your back ground thinking of reading things into what i wrote ie

If that is you “trying to be charitable” i shudder to think what was really going through your head and where it comes from, if it was from what you had read of my post you could have quoted me.

I challenge Muslims offering they are praying and guided by an illa not Allah when they say Christians are bad because they are Christians when the Quran says there are good and bad Christians.

Now in light of the words of your post for a need of exposing truth who is the voice in your heart that spoke of the above quote?
The Father is truth.

To nurture a tree one has to feed it truth and remove dead / poisonous soil. No worries it is probably bad english any way.
. Yes i should have explianed looking after a tree in more detail but had considered every one at CAF was very good at the truth part so needed no encouragement. Obviously I agree or i would have argued rather than say it was consistent with the post.

This is not the intended road of the thread.

Blessings to you all
Ok, I admit, I sinned against you by judging you and for that I, I sincerely apologize. Please accept my apology. I am going to be going to confession later this afternoon and then Mass. I will also confess to the sin of pride as I must have shown a bit of pride in the original post of mine. 😊😦 I am making a complete confession of sins since my baptism today so pray for me if you will. I appreciate your prayers.

I did not say what you seem to be attributing to me - or what you think I am attributing to you. I was simply giving you my opinion, which I thought you asked for. You can take it or leave it. 🤷
yes i am sorry i was thinking out aloud by typing. Thanks and priase G-d for your nurturing me

I want to share my views here.

First of all, I think Planten wanted us to respect Islam, and Steve John probably wants us to share his view between God and Jesus christ.

For Planten, I am sorry if we have offended your faith. The way I saw and read your posts is something we can not understand like the way you can not understand what is the difference between your faith and Christianity. the reason you may find that we are offending Islam is because we are trying to let you know that Christians can not be fooled by a mere man like Muhammed. Since you accepted Muhammed and let yourself deceived, then I am sorry that you will encounter more criticism from Christians who happens to have the truth.

Steve John, it seems you are in a journey of your own trying to know better between God and man. Please read the Bible again and again, then ask questions in the CAF apologetics regarding the interpretations of the Scriptures. Catholics will only have one “universal” explanation of each scriptures and they will gladly answer your questions.

rikkk, I feel that we all should apologise from Steven John. We all should read all the known scriptures, OT, NT and Quran.

Yes dear Sister, I had already for given you.
I really do understand i pray this thread is hep for us all us including me for me the meaning of the sword having two edges is because if i see it and pick it up it cuts me. I often dont want to pick up because of me but i know He heals us.

Sorry I did not read your post b4 posting my own apology to jay i had been doing my own penance last night for being in My Fathers way and rushed to post to Jay b4 morning prayer.

Praise be to Our Father for Yeshau (pbwh) teaching us we have power to forgive sins.

Bless you and yours pray well and stay well

Steve John, it seems you are in a journey of your own trying to know better between God and man.
Amen, I had assumed that is what everyone else is doing too

.

I do, the apologetics section has not worked out real well for me, i must be posting questions poorly phrased.

I dont think my take on this parable is out side of Catholic teaching, This is a pretty simple one.

Bless ya pray well and stay well

Peace and blessings to you all, i would like you to consider next Sundays Gospel with me, so together we may grow a greater love for the way of Yeshua (pbwh).

Next Sundays Good news

Sorry i do not have The Jerusalem Bible quoted but i think NIV is very close to the message in both.

The first half i would like you to not consider Muslims but only our selves.

For me i see sin is sin, some sin or lots of sin any sin makes us like all sinners.

What does G-d in justice do to sinners?

The second part for me shows Our Father, the just land owner, Israel the Fig tree, the vines the rest of the world, Yeshua (pbwh) the gardener.

Now for me G-d is saying Israel is not producing fruit so needs to be cut off, she is in sin, sin is G-ds enemy, G-d is just, but Yeshua (pbwh) asks for time to care and nercher her with the aim to bare fruit pleasing to G-d. Obviously G-d intended her to bare fruit or she would not have been planted. G-d never intended her to be His enemy.

Simple stuff i reckon.

Who is Yeshua (pbwh) on earth today, i would suggest that Catholic teaching says you as Catholics are part of his body, so would do his work as he would.

Note you are not G-d, you are Yeshua (pbwh)

Now consider how did Yeshua (pbwh) teach we are to treat each other and how to treat our enemy’s.

I suggest Yeshua (pbwh) actually teaches love your enemy don’t cut them down. The Gardener cares and looks after the tree, (the enemy of G-d) he actually steps up to help the enemy not be cut down.

Considering many today see Islam as “The enemy”, “of the enemy”, “ground for the enemy” can we now apply the same parable seeing Islamic religion as a substitute for the fig tree?

If look with an honest heart i have been the enemy, sin is sin. So i could be the fig tree, do i want to be cut down or loved and cared for?

The gardener > Yeshua (pbwh) > you actually do nerchering things to the tree. We dont slay it, we dont, shove to much fertiliser to fast we give it little bits to start and more as it gets strength we water it etc.

The image of the gardener is one who sees the tree is not producing fruit and gives of their time and effort wanting it to bare fruit.

The gardener intercedes on the sinners behalf with mercy.

I could use other scripture and argue this down to say you are called to be just and kill the tree, but consider if you have ever prayed the Lords prayer.

You said to My Father forgive my sins as i forgive the sins of others.

Any sin is sin, you asked My Father to judge you this way, My Father gives you so much of what you want.

In old days of Israel saying any thing 3 times makes it absolute, if you have prayed the Lords prayer 3 times or more, look at your actions, If you say Jesus is my way and are not caring for those you see as sinners will he deny you?

Lots of people see me as a Muslim defender and plonk me into the enemy box, it is true i do and will defend their right to love and every ray of My Fathers light i see from them.
But if you really look hard most of the time it is some of us i am defending from our own “false religion” way.
I am here for goodness in you but if it is in them then i am here for them.
You were given the covenant.
My Father will bless them.
It is the covenant they are to blesses through so your bible says, I am witness to it and we are witness of each other.

I love you and them, there are many great interpretations of scripture, i urge you to pray this Sunday and see if any of this post is true for you, If it is ask Our Father what actions of love are to come.

If you seen any good in this post know it is not me or my words but He who loves you better than i do.

“I will be what I will be”, you have free will so choose who you see
Thanks for the above explaination of the Parable, By the way what religion do you follow? If Muslim than I understand, and I say thanks once again for reading the Holy Bible, for whatever reason, If not a Muslim and not a Christian either than also I do try my best to understand and hope the Holy Bible brings you closer to God, But if you are a Christian, than I find it hard to accept your pbuh after the use of word Yeshua or Jesus.

Could you tell me what that PBUH means as a Christian? and What is in your understanding who Jesus really was?

Lastly here is another parable for you, hope you will give explaination for that too.

Mark 12:1-12 [1] He then began to speak to them in parables: "A man planted a vineyard. He put a wall around it, dug a pit for the winepress and built a watchtower. Then he rented the vineyard to some farmers and went away on a journey. [2] At harvest time he sent a servant to the tenants to collect from them some of the fruit of the vineyard. [3] But they seized him, beat him and sent him away empty-handed. [4] Then he sent another servant to them; they struck this man on the head and treated him shamefully. [5] He sent still another, and that one they killed. He sent many others; some of them they beat, others they killed. [6] "He had one left to send, a son, whom he loved. He sent him last of all, saying, They will respect my son.' [7] "But the tenants said to one another, This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.’ [8] So they took him and killed him, and threw him out of the vineyard. [9] "What then will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and kill those tenants and give the vineyard to others. [10] Haven’t you read this scripture: “`The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone; [11] the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes’?” [12] Then they looked for a way to arrest him because they knew he had spoken the parable against them. But they were afraid of the crowd; so they left him and went away.

Thanks wwolverine. I have taken the same parable from KJV bible. Please see below:

The parable of the gardeners.
Mathew 21:33-46,

33Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country:
34And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it.
35And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.
36Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise.
37But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son.
38But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.
39And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him.
40When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen?
41They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.
42Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
43Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.
44And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.
45And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them.
46But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet.
Explanation:
This parable which was spoken by Jesus, in it Jesus has told the whole history of all the prophets.
The vineyard (garden) is the world.
The husbandmen(gardeners) are the people (mankind).
The tax of the Owner is the good work of prayers and duty to the Owner.
The Servants are the prophets of God who appeared one after the other over a long time.
The Son is Jesus himself who appeared a long time after other prophets.
But the gardeners put him (Jesus) up on the Cross and did not care for his message. They killed him.
So what will happen after that?? It is said the Lord owner of the garden will come Himself. Who is that Lord??
This parable also needs more expalnation…

rikkk1958;6370465:
I want to share my views here.

rikkk, I feel that we all should apologise from Steven John. We all should read all the known scriptures, OT, NT and Quran.

Nobody is fooling any one. No man of God will try to fool any one. Let us give equal rights ( reasonable measure of breathing space) to all teachings. Of course, there is a difference of understanding. I feel that you should never offend any one. Do not believe in Muhammad but do not be judgemental, abusive, reaching malafide conclusions. That will not hurt any one. It will also not hurt you.LOve for all is the best and Hatred for none.

As per J C advice, I will try to act on the principle of Love so I do not become a Liar.

.

You have judged things very badly. You need not criticise any one. Why don’t you preach your gospel and leave the criticism of others alone. Then they will not attack your bad beliefs.

Steve John has also been judged. I suggest to Steve John not to drop the bibleOT and Quran from his offerings, not to rely on the bibleNT only but to take every one along with good faith in future discussion. May Allah be with Steve John.
We are all judging here in the sense of getting to the truth and because you are obviously here judging our faith to be erroneous and the works of Muhammed to be the rightful one then you are not in the right place to begin with.

The reason why you can not give us reasons that Islam is right is because we already JUDGED that the gospels and the writings of the apostles are all we need to be justified to be faithful to our faith. If you come in here to educate us because you think Muhammed gave you the best to believe him then you must accept being judged because you believe in someone that is obviously a fake. That is our judgment!

You can not tell us about LOVE! The love we share in the teachings of Jesus Christ is much much more than the love your prophet teaches. Even the numbers do not match at all. How many words of “love” mentioned in the quran? two or three? the slaughtering may be be even more, or even hatred.

If you want the meaning of LOVE, planten, read the gospel well and you will find that the LOVE we speak of is the real love of God.

That is why I kept telling you, once you accepted Jesus Christ, then you are not far in entering the Kingdom of God. For you do not need Muhammed or Joseph Smith, or anything else. The gospels, the teachings of the apostles are there for you to read, but then of course we are Catholics who depends only in the universal interpretations of the scriptures. This is our faith Planten:
I BELIEVE IN GOD, THE FATHER, THE ALMIGHTY, CREATOR OF HEAVEN AND EARTH.
I BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST, HIS ONLY SON, OUR LORD.
HE WAS CONCEIVED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT BORN OF THE VIRGIN MARY.
HE SUFFERED UNDER PONTIUS PILATE, WAS CRUCIFIED, DIED, AND WAS BURIED.
HE DESCENDED TO THE DEAD.
ON THE THIRD DAY, HE ROSE AGAIN.
HE ASCENDED INTO HEAVEN, AND IS SEATED AT THE RIGHT HAND OF THE FATHER.
HE WILL COME AGAIN TO JUDGE THE LIVING AND THE DEAD.
I BELIEVE IN THE HOLY SPIRIT, THE HOLY CATHOLIC CHURCH, THE COMMUNION OF SAINTS, THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS, THE RESURRECTION OF THE BODY , AND THE LIFE EVERLASTING.

This the catholic faith.

Jesus is not our “brother” He is our Master. He is united with the Father and the Holy Spirit.
The parable shows separation to teach us, i did not write it, and I have no right to change it or it will teach different. My understanding is the Catholic Church teaches The members of The One true Church are parts of Jesus (pbwh) body.
No, you did not write it, and you also do not understand it, because there is no separation. Jesus is not the gardener.
No,no, no… Jesus was not the gardener, He did not tolerate it… You seem to try with all your might to separate Jesus from God, by linking God with justice, and Jesus with mercy… This is wrong! Jesus will be the one to judge on the last day, Jesus will condemn many to death!
By Jesus being nailed to the cross, you say he “tolerated” sin? No, Jesus died on the cross in fulfillment of the Scripture. He knew long beforehand what His mission was… His mission was to become a spectacle of humiliation for all to see, and it hurt.

By dying He destroyed our death, by rising He restored our life. He is the First of many who will follow after Him.
If Christians are not called to tolerate sin and Muslims are not why would they need to convert to the same belief?
That was not the message of Jesus, to “tolerate sin”… We Christians are to tolerate sinners but Hate sin. But Muslims need to convert in order to show God their willingness to repent for their sins… Because those who do not repent will perish.

Peace and blessings to you all, i would like you to consider next Sundays Gospel with me, so together we may grow a greater love for the way of Yeshua (pbwh).

You know Steven, we as Christian respect everyone regardless of religious orientation because we are all brothers that are created by God. Respect does not mean we can not judge. For you who are struggling to interpret the Holy Scriptures will find it puzzling because like other religions, they want to decipher the context to mean closer to their understanding. The story in the Gospel were already discussed by our early Church Fathers who happened to be there even while the Gospels were even written. When you read the Scriptures like the fig tree and the Gardener and the stoning of a sinful woman, you are only trying to understand certain scriptures which in the process of misinterpretation of these certain verses you might be in conflict with the whole meaning of the story of Jesus.

Could you tell me what that PBUH means as a Christian? and What is in your understanding who Jesus really was?
I did not offer what you typed i assume you have hit the wrong key.
I did type PBWH peace be with him as he is narrated as saying he has peace and offers it to those who are willing to accept it so peace is with him. i dont know of another who had such peace.

yes i understand this but would have thought discernment rather than judgement would be better for ones own self but that could be just picking at words on my part.

I am very happy for any one to offer an interpretation of this parable and who the characters represent and would especially like to here how She explains it.

Bless ya

Ok Tepo the Master in my heart.
What you say on my words of what was tolerated i understand we are called to hate sin and love sinners that is kinda the point of me starting the thread.
  1. To allow without prohibiting or opposing; permit.
He permitted it to happen in this world to reveal that there is much greater in the true kingdom.

I was trying to explain that Yeshua (pbwh) had power to stop what was happening but did not as you have elaborated, (you are most great here for this) for the big picture (and have shown me how i am a lowly sinner, may G-d bless you as He wills). And the kindness and humility of your seeking goodness in me inspires me to say, i dont want to be of your “religion”.

While i am loathed to speak with you at all post my fist i offered “there are many great interpretations of scripture”.

You have spoken against what i offered and shown me for the fool for having got a wrong sinful message from this scripture, (you are most great here for this) i would have benefited more if you explained who is who in the parable.

For what it is worth the priest at our parish explained the gardener as Yeshua (pbwh), but unlike your self they teach they dont have all of the answers and i find their take very encouraging, i would also expect the Catholic churches explanation to be encouraging and at a guess if you offered an interpretation it would be encouraging unlike your posting so far. Scripture encourages growth toward perfection, as you appear to have attained perfection please share with me.

May G-d forgive me for my swaying in and out of sarcasm in posting to you but you are so discouraging to a little one like me if it were not for G-d loving me, I would want noting to do with Him, you and Catholics. I spend so much of my life discouraging in Muslims what i see from you.

Bless ya Tepo

Steven John,
if u’re not interested in Catholic interpretation of the verses you brought, it’s ok, it’s clear that you’re using ur own understanding (and ur suggestion of “other version of christian”). But I don’t think Tepo was trying to make you feel as if you become a looser of being a sinner as in Catholic everybody is sinner (bible has also mentioned that too).

If u seem angry at someone else’s standing, it just shows that u’re not being tolerant ur self. Your own argument seems to be the thing that u’re opposed to of Catholic being uncharitable to other, u’re in fact fall to the same hole.

Seems to me that whatever u have try to present urself as believer of one true G-d, it only stresses ur inclination towards Islam, and it’s shouldn’t be a problem since whatever u want to believe is a matter of your private relationship with God.

Bless you.😉

No i am tired of Tepo attitude he says what is not but does not say what is ie who is the gardener in the story?

sure but please read the argument i include myself in it.

Well it is a problem to others not me that they have decided my “inclination toward Islam” “Islamic tenancies”. I dont mind if people feel pleased to decide i am Islamic but people then want to correct what i have not written.
As for the part i have bold is it true for you by its words and if you say yes does this show your inclining toward Islam?

i see your post as constructive at helping me as in iron sharpens iron

Bless you too
