I wouldn’t say it’s “feel-good,” so much as it is taking the gospel seriously…
Indeed.

And the words of Jesus from the Gospels are quite radical! Living up to them, I can only imagine, is a nearly impossible task. Those few who nearly manage it are truly admirable people.

Really? I never would have guessed that.

What’s next?
My guess would be obedience to the moral law. He really didn’t talk all that much about social justice, and when he did it was more about the rich people can’t buy their way into heaven

Shark jumping is good aerobic exercise!
I really think none of you have been around hard core homosexuals,a homosexual priest that I grew up with ,and several other older gays, really believe, that same-sex marriage is the Normal Union, and that marying the opposite sex is abnormal. Hard core Male homosexuals really think their women trapped in a mans body, and hard core lesbians really think their men trapped in a womens body.? THAT my dear people is why I stated earlier that homosexuality is a Mental Illness giving the world a Physical Disease???.

Both these replies truly surprise me (not the obedience to moral law, part).

Someone must have categorized all of Jesus’ parables, etc. Who’s got the link?

Its startling statement. I’ve spent a fair amount of time reading two popular LGBT blogs which deal with political and social issues, and I have never read any such statement from a gay or lesbian person.

No, if they identified as such they would be transsexuals and not homosexuals. Homosexuality has to do with sexual attraction. Transsexualism has to do with sexual identity. They are different phenomena.

Just let the Catholics who support gay marriage deal with it themselves. They can’t change Church teaching… They know that they are in disagreement with the Church and that’s their choice.

We can’t “force” them to believe… We can’t impose Church teaching onto one another.

Does God impose His will onto us? Of course not…

Does Jesus impose the New Covenant onto anyone? Of course not…

Does Satan impose his temptations onto us? OOOH yes!

We canot save ourselves, only Gods Grace can save.

STOP IMPOSING.

Can you give an example of the “imposing” going on?

Also to conclude my lecture… Those of you who wish to show compasion for homosexuals -don’t expect to gain an understanding from those who don’t.

We cannot impose our passions onto others.

Does God impose His will onto us? Of course not… etc, etc, etc.

You don’t have any compassion for homosexuals? Is that what you mean? And is that what you think the RCC wants, as well–no compassion for gays?

It doesnt matter what I feel… My point is that not you, nor the Church, not even God can force your compassion onto anyone. Any further attempt to impose your views onto others becomes simply evil.

We should not impose, just like Jesus did not impose.

Here’s a Fact ,a Truism, The Rash of homosexual teenagers committing suicide can be put directly on the heads of the homosexual community, they are the ones that pressured the Psychiatric Association to take homosexuality off their books as being a Mental Disorder in 1973,thus the troubled teenager has no where to go for treatment if they were depressed or suicidal ,thats just too bad, your on your own! I don’t believe that homosexuals commit suicide because they are bulied, that is if they are bullied in the first place, any person who commits suicide is a very sick person, and its because they are homosexual.

It entirely does matter what you feel–and your church frequently discusses sins of the heart and asks you to examine it and work on cleansing it. I am agnostic, but I fully believe that even inside ourselves we can have bad thoughts and feelings, and that some of these are harmful and should be addressed and reduced. And your church specifically asks you to work on your heart in regards to gays. I can quote the letter from the Bishops of America on this matter if you would like. True, they can’t MAKE you feel a certain way. But the Bishop’s letter CLEARLY asks you to approach and treat gays with a certain feeling and love, and I would say that having “compassion” for them is clearly part of their request. If you wish to state that you think it acceptable to ignore that request, then I simply would like to see if you would write that here.
